Whats under ya saddle
« on: 26 January 2014, 09:18:42 pm »
So its my first bike with under seat storage (bar the TRX) and I'm wondering what you fine people carry in yours. I'll carry my disc lock and probably a bottle of water.
I'd like to hear your ideas / suggestions  8)

For those without Stiggy's patent bazooka, I had the Yam toolkit, assorted bungees & cargo net, and a puncture repair kit. I bought a little compressor off ebay, but it didn't work off my 12V.

Yam tool kit --- beefed up with some extra spanners pliers big cable ties. Puncture repair kit (think it was a hein gerick one with o2 canasters and a plug thing) short chain and padlock, stand puck  and still got loads of room.Which reminds me about the mt09 its got enough room for a credit card.

Spare clutch and brake levers

Why so

Ok incase you crash yeh, I would think in an off they are still workable or in such an off that they were not then that would be the least of your worries
Or should I get some myself

A habit I got into from trail riding.   :)

I had my bike knocked over years ago and the fall broke the brake lever.  :'( It  was a pain in the arse riding with it broken until I could get a replacement.

They take up so little space and it was a good a place as any to keep them. Better than getting lost in the garage  :lol

I got nothing under my FZ1 seat apart from the Two Brothers tuning box. That's because there's no room for anything else! :'(
That's what my tailbag is for! (waterproof trousers, puncture kit, visor cleaning kit, small get you home repair kit, pen, large plastic bag, cargo net).

Thundercat's a different story, there's absolutely nothing in there. If I break down/puncture on the way to work, I just phone recovery!!
Stop polishing it and ride the bloody thing!!

Standard fazer toolkit, cable ties, some disposable gloves, couple of rags.

Chris

It wouldn't be fun if it was easy, I just wish it wasn't this much fun.

Not even enough space to get a well oiled midget in there!

Does everybody fill up the sides as well?

I.e. Apart from the obvious area directly under where the pillion's bum would be, you can actually pack a lot of stuff down the sides too. From the outside, these are the plastic side body panels. Know what I mean?

I've got a decent sized first aid kit, chain lube can, & hi vis vest tucked down one side, and levers, plastic bags, cargo net & 4 bungees down the other.

Yeah, I make full use of the side bits - surprising what you can stuff in there, very deceptive space.

I didn't even know there was under seat storage of any value. I shall be investigating later.

I'm assuming it's easy to take the seat off to get at this space.

Side lock, turn it, seat lifts up at the front.  :)
