Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Ivanised or not
« on: 07 July 2015, 01:14:13 pm »
Bought my first fazer 1000 last april 2014, never ridden a fazer before so had no idea of what to expect.
My mate has a same age fazer 1000 with 14k on the clock mine has 24k the only other diference is mines got a beowulf can on it and his is factory fitted, he had an opportunity to ride my bike at weekend and is reporting how much quicker mine is and he says its noticable big time. Could it be that something is wrong with his ie carbs not ballanced correctly or could i without knowing have bought a bike that has been ivanised. Is there a way of physically telling on the bike.

Thanks

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / paint - the right one
« on: 06 March 2015, 10:25:57 pm »
Hi Folks

a long story but wanted to get mi fazer 1000 repainted as it was tatty with minor scratches, some fool of a self proclaimed bodyshop i took it too used a blind man to spray it and yes it was the wrong colour to boot, so they resprayed it with the same incompetance with guess what another wrong colour. I have not been back for a third time and they have now decided that they no longer touch bikes.

My main concern is getting it back to its originol colour which is red its a 2002 model it used to look like this
http://databikes.com/infophoto/yamaha/fzs_1000-2002.html

Under the seat there is the label which tells me the model production code and yamaha colour code the colour code is C and i cannot find it on this list
https://www.motorcyclespareparts.eu/yamaha-parts/color-codes.aspx

Can anyone please help

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Gen 1 Exhaust question
« on: 18 September 2014, 12:14:22 am »
Ok going from biker virgin to wanting to make my ride my own - don't know why as i have never been interested in modding a car in anyway. I feel a bit like the bloke out of close encounters of the 3rd kind-  moulding the mountin out of anything he can get his hands on, but he has no idea why - perhaps i am starting to build a rocket ship.

Anyway like the look of beowulf gear, new stainless steel radiator grill and sides arrived today and their now on and the bikes looking better already. My mate has a gen 1 with a titanium beowulf exhaust and sounds great i am more of a shiny person so i want stainless to match the grill. My question is they do a 450mm silencer and a 380mm silencer they claim either gives more power and they have confirmed i will not need to retune anything on the bike unless i have not got a non standard air filter fitted or have a power commander on. Ok i know what an air filter is but wtf is a power commander i know the bikes not got one as it is standard. Also and be careful ladies why the difference in size is it cosmetic or is there a more scientific reason.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Suspension
« on: 16 July 2014, 09:31:19 pm »
As i have already said i am new to bikes, i sometimes feel the back or front tyre twitch but this could be in my mind. I have checked the tyre pressures and their ok. The twitch could be in my mind and nerves but as the bike is a second hand Fazer 1000 Gen 1 i have been thinking the previous owner may have been adjusting it to suit him/herself and it may not be right for me. I weigh 19stone can anyone advise me on what settings the front and rear suspension should be on.

Thanks

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / know nowt about bikes but...
« on: 04 July 2014, 12:56:29 am »
After my intro post i have since passed my big bike test and had already bought my fazer 1000 on advice of my instructor. My wife now thinks she lives alone as if its light and dry i am out like a big 41 year old kid. I trained on a 650 kwak which i thought had some go but the fazer is some other animal.

Yep i ride like a newby, call me mc chicken strip who cares,  i am a slow rider as i have not got my confidence and after passing my test now i am starting to learn to ride a bike.
The bikes not lite but the slow speed handling its a doddle to manage, but when i open it up and i say open it up most of you would laugh at what i call opening up as i have yet to get past 6000 revs and to be honnest until i am happy i wont either, but the power is unreal, it doesn't dip and just keeps ruddy going, have done almost 2400 miles in 3 weeks mostly around the peninnes, and thats only after work lol but i cant simply stop wanting to ride the animal. Someone told me they are a wolf in sheeps clothing and by god they were right.

I never clean my car and have it valleted when needed but i have found myself washing and cleaning my bike on a regular basis and even looking for radiator grills, double bubble screens, beowolf exhaust whats the hells happening to me.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / windsheild and mirrors
« on: 14 June 2014, 12:06:54 am »
Hi

Please forgive me as this is possibly a repeated question. I have a large frame and despite adjusting the mirrors the best i can i have to move my arms in to see behind me, is there an easy solution to extend the mirrors.

Second question the fazer i have has the standard windscreen, again as i am 6ft 4 can anyone advise me on where i can get a larger windscreen to stop some of the wind flow

thanks
