There is no drain hole for those pipes. They go rusty and get full of crap if you don't keep on top of your maintenance.

If you're going to fit the Ivan's kit (recommended) I would also replace the float valve o-rings while you are at it.

For Sale & Wanted / Re: For sale...IVAN's slip on jet kit
« on: 01 February 2023, 12:56:06 pm »
Just found an old post by Mike which says the Slip-On kit has 122.5 main jets, the MB kit has 127.5 mains and a different needle profile. On that basis, it seems that this is indeed a slip-on kit, albeit in an MB box. Strange.

Yes. Looking at Ivan’s website it seems that the only difference between the two kits is that they have different needle profiles, which is probably going to be difficult to discern visually. Might be worth consulting Mike (Falcoln 269) as the resident expert….

If it's definitely the full monty I'll offer £80. Probably the only way to be sure would be to check the jet and needle sizes. I suppose it's possible that Luke could have put an SO kit in an MB box..... particularly as the parts are not in their original plastic bags and there appear to be more drill bits than normally come in one of Ivan's kits.

Are you sure that's the slip-on kit? The MB suffix indicates it is the 'full monty' kit. Part number for the slip-on kit is FZ-0102SO.

Another good way to check if the valve is bent is to put it in a drill (preferably a bench drill/press but any drill will do). Spin it up at a slow speed and you will immediately see if it is slightly out of true.

There is a fork overhaul procedure in the pinned posts at the top of the forum ....."common maintenance tasks".

No need to measure it if you follow the stated procedure:

"40...wind the rebound adjuster screw out all the way, then back in again by 42 clicks. [/size]Fit the fork cap and wind it down as far as it will go on the damper rod. Then back-off the lock nut up the damper rod until it tightens/locks against the top cap."

Sorry, don’t have any shots. Don’t really have a blank wall in the garage. Might be able to set something up on the garage door at some stage.

If anyone is looking to upgrade their headlight bulbs to LED, I can highly recommend these as a direct replacement. No heat sink, ballast resistors or any modifications required whatsoever. A bit pricey, but great quality.

« on: 05 September 2022, 08:55:56 pm »
Had mine powder coated in satin black. Looks good to me but I think the original was slightly more glossy.
The 2 times I had this done the coating has not lasted (the longest was 2 years), so with both paces I used were sh*t or PC isnt all its cracked up to be.

Must have been a dodgy PC. First one I used were cheap and crap and had to have both wheels redone by a firm specialising in bike parts. Well over 2 years ago and two sets of tyres fitted and still spotless.

« on: 17 August 2022, 02:01:39 pm »
If the top bushes were a problem to fit, maybe the scraping noise is the bushes being too tight a fit around the stanchions? I would be surprised if the springs are causing that sort of noise. Assuming there was no scraping noise before the strip down then I would say to start with the parts you have changed. Personally I would only use OEM bushes.

Got my Fazer wheels done by Triple S powder coating. They did an excellent job although they have changed ownership since I had my wheels done.

If you follow the fork overhaul procedure you will see that it isn't really necessary to measure the exposed thread on the damper rod:

39. Wind the lock nut all the way down the thread initially.
40.  Before refitting the top cap wind the rebound adjuster screw out all the way, then back in again by 42 clicks. Eight clicks equates to one full 360 degree rotation of the screw. This ensures that you retain the full range of adjustment on re-assembly.
41.  Fit the fork cap and wind it down as far as it will go on the damper rod. Then back-off the lock nut up the damper rod until it tightens/locks against the top cap.

I don't get any pad "rattle" but the pads do have some radial movement when applying the brakes resulting in an initial "knock" when the pad plates contact the caliper. There is also some slight wear in the caliper where this contact happens. Normal I assume.

Couldn't find anything specifically listed for the Fazer on that site. I usually get my titanium hardware from these: Fazer 1000 Titanium Front Brake Disc Set 01-05 | Racefasteners Ltd

So far I've found the linkage seals for a fiver (bit much) on yambits.com and the needle roller bearings 17 x 24 x 15 for about twelve quid each on simplybearings.co.uk, better than £120 from main dealer I suppose, now I've got to find some bushes as they're a bit marked also.

OEM needle roller bearings are IKO TA1715Z. Sourced mine from Henderson Bearings and cost £13.07 for three, although that was 18 months ago.

Got the bushes/sleeves from Wemoto for about £7 each.
