General / My most favorite day of the winter.
« on: 21 December 2016, 10:17:31 am »
Why ?
Because its the 21st of December and the shortest day so from here on its gonna be getting lighter everyday until I can have a 10pm sunset ride.
I hate the winter - its not the cold its lack of light.

General / Compulsory Insurance Excess
« on: 26 October 2016, 05:13:17 pm »
Is there any bike quote that has a lower than £250 compulsory excess, I have already set my vol one to zero. Seems they all start at £250.
Bennets are looking the cheapest so far, I take it that its not worth buying any of the extra legal cover, personal accident.

Has anyone got one of the new "BlacK" ones, not the more expensive smart one but the standard one.

I am trying to find out if it has a guide that shows what is on across all the catchups all in one place or do I have to go to each of the separate players - itv player etc to then see what's on there.

General / Not raining but its too hot now

 :grumble
I know it wont last but when it gets like this I start to think about another jacket, my current one is leather and heavy and I use it all year around by adding thin layers underneath in the winter.  I would prefer leather with armer but just recently some styles with leather on the bits that might go down the road and textiles that let in air in other places and lighter to wear than my leather.
So some recommendations please on summer months only jackets as I will still be keeping my leather for the other 11 months of the year  :rolleyes

General / NEW PM
« on: 11 July 2016, 05:50:20 pm »
I was wrong about Gove being PM.

By Wednesday we will have a new PM Mrs May

Now that leadsom has fallen on to her stroller/buggy and thrown her terry toweling nappies into the ring.
We now will have a new PM who was a reluctant Brexiter who hopefully has the ability to unite both the inners and the outers and finally move forward.
Now watch the children of the markets stop crying and watch the pound and the markets rocket.

General / Starting after a few weeks
« on: 04 June 2016, 10:43:09 am »
Is there any wisdom in pushing the bike in first after a period of a few weeks standing. And would this get the oil around.
I dont normally let it bother me but I have recently changed the oil - correct amount, let it run then checked - re adjusted to the perfect level, but over a few days of standing I have seen the oil level very slowly going up until after about 5 days it has filled the glass. Which tells me the oil has completely run off the internal parts

General / Tourque arm
« on: 09 May 2016, 10:05:15 pm »
Whilst I was refurbing my centre stand I decided to do the torque arm, one bolt came off ok but the other got rounded a little (Yamaha cheese metal) I have re filed some flats on to it but could do with a new nut, but what is it? its like a nylo nut but instead of the nylon it has a bit of metal that sort of digs in.

Also what torque should I re do at

General / My Centrestand Refurb
« on: 08 May 2016, 10:39:14 pm »
Well as per my last few posts I need to repaint my centre stand which I have started today, I have been putting it off as I would rather be riding it but so not wanting to give myself extra work I have also not been plastering it with ACF50, so I have been promising myself that the next thing I do before I ride again would be to re paint it.
Here are some pics with it in place and the last one with it off.
It isnt that bad but needs doing before it gets worse

General / Toshiba Laptop Charger Help
« on: 28 April 2016, 11:25:52 am »
I am in need of a replacement charger for a toshiba satellite C660d-1c7, its defiantly the charger - well actually the cable from constant bending has split and is shorting.
My problem is trying to find a reputable supplier - looked on amazon and they seem to be fake/dodgy and blow up, found a couple of UK laptop R us type places but when looking into them further they all seem like knock -offs.

So I need to tap into the focer font of knowledge of a trustworthy place to get a replacement charger please

General / Nuther Computer Help post
« on: 05 February 2016, 08:14:01 pm »
Need some help with a graphics card driver install.
I have a driver already but I am trying to get the card to run from an older driver, the reason is that after 2009 nvidia seems to have removed the ability to save profiles as .nvp.
I have found an older driver for the card and saved on desktop then gone into device manager and "update driver" - browse and pointed to the place where I have put the driver I want but because its an older driver-- computer says
The best driver softwre for your device is already installed . Windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date"

Is there a way around this without deleting the graphics card driver and then doing my install to the older one I have downloaded
Cheers
