Anybody watch that incredible pole lap from Marquez in Texas, my, that guy is good. 3 minutes to go parks Number 1 bike at the pit wall, jumps the wall, sprints back to the pits, gets on number 2 bike, does one out lap and blitzes the qualifying record he set last year.

I received an email message from a person called Dan who was having problems with his FZ400 Fazer and the TPS. Unfortunately I have no way of contacting him as the email seems to have come from the forum, but it does not appear on my messages and there is no return email address. The only thing I know is that he lives somewhere in eastern Europe or Russia as his currency is the Russian Ruble. If Dan sees this would he contact me again and leave an email address, I have posted this on 600 section and 400 section in the hope that he may see it or someone may know him.

Was having problems of surging under 3000 revs for the last few weeks, worse when cold and now getting worse when hot. It was a right pain riding in traffic. I eventually got around to do some checks on Saturday. I decided to check the TPS first as it is the easiest thing to check so lifted the tank, switched on the ignition, disconnected and reconnected the TPS to set it to test mode. The rev counter went into to a mind of its own, going from 0 to 1000 numerous times. That is certainly not right, twisting the throttle slowed it down and it eventually settled on 0. Loosen the screws, rotated the TPS and it would not settle at 5000, 0 and 10000 yes, but no way could I get it to settle at 5000. Next half an hour looking for the spare, finally found it and replaced it. Adjusted it to 10000 side of 5000 as a start point until I could take it for a run. All back together and it started easier and sounded better, more revvy. Off for a a spin, what a difference all the 130 odd horses are back Acceleration is back to wild and I have not fitted Ivans Kit yet, which is still in the box. It was happening so gradually I had not really noticed the drop off in power. Rode the long way to work this morning What I had not expected was how much difference a properly working TPS would make. A good wash and check the carb balance and reset the TPS on the cards for next Saturday and will be all ready for a blast Sunday Roll on the weekend. Oh FOC! it is only Monday

I always thought that the SP stood for Special Paint and related to the multi coloured 2000 2001 2002 and 2003 models Michelin seem to think differently

Having been stung by Ben600 for £80 by selling me 2 useless discs which he said were perfect and has refused to reply to any emails or PMs sent since. I am looking for a good set of OEM front discs to fit the 98 to 03 Fazer 600.

I need the reflectors for an old Foxeye headlight I have in the garage with the chrome on the reflectors damaged. Anybody have a broken foxeye headlight they are throwing out?

I am on the look out for a good clean lowish mileage Foxeye 600 for my son. On many ads the fins of the engine are painted and look crap without the silver edges and the decals are missing from the fairing. I have contacted about 6 of the advertisers When asked why the engine was painted, 2 said it was not and others did not know When asked if the bike has been crashed or dropped they say no and my next question is why are there no decals on the fairing, 2 (a different to previous) said they did not like them another said there are no decals on the fairing as standard Another who said it had new tyres and I asked what tyres and what size they were I was told the front was a 115/70 17 Battleaxe and the rear was a 160/70 17 Battleaxe One fellow had the nerve to tell me I knew nothing about what an original Fazer looked like as his was original with no decals front or rear, fins painted black, silver wheels and a 120 front tyre. I give up

After what happened at the Traffic lights this morning I decided to start this thread I had to call to a building off Shandon Street in Cork to drop in some forms. On the way back to work I stopped at the traffic lights behind a car on the top end of Shandon Street. Light are red and a woman with dark glasses and a guide dog approaches the the pedestrian crossing. It was obvious to me the woman was blind. Light go Green as the dog reaches the traffic light pole and he stops and sits down. Driver in front does not pull off and there is no traffic coming the other way The woman moves her head from side to side in a motion that appeared to me that she was listening for the traffic. Wait for it The driver of the still stopped car raises his hand and waves her across the road. Dog stays sitting as he is trained to do waiting for the pedestrian beeper. Woman moves her head from side to side as if she is still listening for the traffic Again the driver raises his hand and waves her across the road. A fellow pedestrian beside the woman who was also waiting to cross went back to the wall of the house to hold on to it and was doubled over from laughing, he could not be consoled. I am still behind the dozy driver watching all this and had to take the bike out of gear and trying to stop me and the bike falling over from laughing. Driver finally drives on and I am there trying to put the bike in gear while still trying to stop laughing. Made my day

HELMET NUMBER PLATES INTRODUCED UK motorcyclists will need to display a front number plate from next month onwards, under new laws passed by the British Government last night. Motorcyclists will need to apply to the DVLA by 30 April and purchase an envelope-sized sticker (at a cost of £19.95) – which they will need to attach to the front of their helmets. The UK’s top traffic cop, Thames Valley Police Commissioner Anthony Stansfeld , said bikers have been getting away with speeding offences for far too long, claiming that 61 percent of bikers caught speeding by traffic control and speed cameras escaped a fine because of the lack of front number plates.

Anyone got a Gen 1 Fazer 1000 servo motor, having changed everthing else because a serious rust issue, now find the foccing server motor is acting up. Took it apart and cleand up the shaft but still working when it feels like it. 3 years of winter salt in London and out and used in all weathers has certainly taken its toll on the complete EXUP system.

I posted this on the 600 forum but curious to see if any one here might thrown some light on it. I have not come accross the problem on the 1000 Any suspension technical Gurus out there who can answer this as it seems to defy the laws of physics I have spent many years setting up supension for friends to suit the Irish roads "Gixers, R1s, S1000RRs, Fazers and recently an RSV" (even the mighty S1000rr on standard suspension setting can be embarassed by a 600 fazer on Irish twisties), but one thing with the 600 fazer, my own included which baffles me is this. The right fork leg presurises over a period of time to such an extent it effects the static sag. I have not noticed it on the other bikes I have set up. When you open the fork cap air gushes out. All the seals were fine with no leaks. I first noticed it when I could not set the static sag on my own a good many years ago and noticed it on 2 other Fazers since including the 400 recently (I had installed the preload adjusters on the 400 when I fitted Progressive springs). Here is the strange thing, after my altercation with a bus a few years back I "missaligned" one of the forks legs and replaced both the legs and seals and now it does not happen. My question is how in the hell is the air getting in? I asked the lads in Hagon when I first noticed it and they were also mystified. Maybe it is the reason for the question on the post about the "right fork leg seal"

13 Observations from 40 years of motorcycling 1. Any rider can ride fast; the really good ones can stop fast.2. A flashing indicator just means the bulb is working3. Brakes only stop the wheels, it is how you apply that knowledge, is what stops the bike4. When following the leader do not assume he knows where he is going or what he is doing.5. Just because the rider in front did not brake for the approaching corner does not mean you don’t have to6. Just because the rider in front took the corner at a certain speed does not necessarily mean you can.7. Wait 3 seconds before taking off at a green traffic light.8. An insect inside you visor, especially a stinging one really ruins you concentration.9. When filtering, the exact second you break your concentration, the car in front will attempt to change lanes.10. When filtering up to red traffic lights watch for the “I’ll get out here brigade” especially on rainy days.11. If someone brakes on a straight road for no apparent reason, they may have seen the speed trap you didn’t.12. Just because the car driver looks you straight in the eye does not mean he saw you.13. Look at where you want to go and you will nearly always go there. I am sure you can add a few more
