For Sale & Wanted / The time has come.
« on: 10 July 2023, 10:46:10 pm »
I'm selling my Fazer and thought I'd offer it on here before sticking it on Ebay or Autotrader. 2003 blue foxeye, just over 10k miles just fitted a full Motad exhaust, aftermarket Shock Factory M-shock, fresh coolant and oil, lovely condition, lots of spares including unused full Hel brake lines set (3 line front) blah blah blah. Will go into more detail and post some pics if anyone thinks they might be interested in buying it

FZS600 Fazer / Motad full system.
« on: 12 June 2023, 04:45:10 pm »
 Hi all,
I've finally got round to fitting my Motad system. I had to remove the original system to get to the front of the engine to clean a repaint it while I had the radiator off for a respray cos it had start flaking paint off too. It was overdue a coolant change anyway. So I decided to swap the exhaust while it was off. The headers went straight on with no problem but the link pipe centre stand stop bracket is in the wrong place and the rubber bung misses it entirely. I've had to make a diy bodge to make it work. The silencer fitted okay but the hanging bracket is a PITA to fit. Has anyone else had this problem fitting a Motad? Can post pics if anyone's interested.

I imagine quite a few of us remember winter (and summer) rides before the days of breathable waterproof linings.

OK so I know he wasn't a motorcycle racer but still a sad loss. A legend from an era when Grand Prix racing was worth watching albeit extremely dangerous.

General / Is this the best standard paint job on any bike ever?

If not what is? Kind of related to the cool bike thread, can a paint job make a bike cool/cooler?

General / Dame Emma Thompson joins London protest
« on: 19 April 2019, 08:45:17 am »

I've just read that Emma Thompson has flown in from L.A to join the Extinction Rebellion protest. Isn't it a bit hypocritical to disrupt peoples lives, in order to 'educate' them in the damage they're doing to the world (as if they didn't already know) when your champagne swilling, jet setting, high consumption life style has the carbon footprint of a small town? From what I've read and heard they all seem to be virtue signal, middle class lefties so I suppose she's in good company.

FZS600 Fazer / Which Fork Oil?
« on: 13 April 2019, 11:24:36 am »
Following on from my previous post. I need to buy some 15w fork oil. I'm thinking of Motul but I don't really know why. Does anyone have any recommendations or otherwise. Thanks.

FZS600 Fazer / YSS PD valves
« on: 02 April 2019, 10:06:39 pm »
I'm hoping to finally get started on my forks before long. I've got .85kg KTech Linear springs, YSS PD Valves and a pair of damper Rods for drilling and I'm thinking of starting with 10w oil as I want a plush comfortable sports touring type setup rather than track day handling. FireFox Racing have told me that the damper rods don't need drilling but everything I've read on here and everywhere else online says they do, so having got a donor pair I might as well do it. Can anyone tell me whether I need to use the washer from the bottom of the original spring or whether the new spring should sit directly on top of the PD valve, this seems wrong to me but would the washer restrict the oil flow if it's fitted? Any other hints and tips would be gratefully accepted, thanks.

I'm just coming up to 2 years with my Fazer and have no plans to change it yet. Just wondering how long owners tend to keep them before they decide it's time to move on or is it your 'forever bike' particularly if it's the only bike you own.

FZS600 Fazer / Comfort Seat
« on: 10 December 2018, 11:15:27 pm »
I'm thinking of having a more comfortable seat made for the bike in the new year and have been looking around for someone to do it for me. I've contacted Core Seating in Lincoln cos they look top quality and are only a few miles down the road from me. spoke to Ed who seems to know his stuff but I'm just wondering if anyone on here has used his services as there are a couple of really nice looking Fazer seats on his site. Cheers.

FZS600 Fazer / FireFox Racing
« on: 23 February 2018, 05:04:32 pm »
Just spoken to a guy at FireFox Racing about linear fork springs and YSS catridge emulators and he tells me that I don't need to drill bigger/extra holes in the damper rods now, they just drop in with 295mm K-Tech linears, I'm guessing he should know, being an official YSS R&D centre but it goes against everything I've read on here. Any opinions?

A happy birthday to all of the 27 Foccers celebrating their special day today, 18 of whom are 48 years young. Looks like the summer of love in 1969 started in the spring.  :lol

FZS600 Fazer / Which Throwovers?
« on: 08 October 2017, 09:14:25 pm »
I've got a pair of Oxford Lifetime Sports throwover Panniers that are fine for solo use but get in the way of the pillion footrests, so I can't use them 2 up. Just wondering what other people use when they go touring on their Fazer with the Mrs on the back. I don't want the width or expense of hard panniers.

FZS600 Fazer / Front indicators for the back.
« on: 17 September 2017, 08:25:10 pm »
I've been looking for short rear indicators to replace the originals because my throwovers sit on them and bend them down. Looking on Ebay, it seems like the front indicators fit on the rear too and are obviously that bit shorter. So has anyone on the forum done this? I don't want to go with mini LEDs and thought these would keep the standard look if they fit properly. Thanks

FZS600 Fazer / Fitting new fork springs
« on: 22 July 2017, 02:07:33 pm »
My new fork springs arrived today. The forks had new oil a few weeks ago so I don't need to change that. I was wondering if it's possible to lower the bike onto the fully compressed forks to measure the air gap while on the centre stand or will it just tip forward too far and roll off the stand? It would be nice if I can avoid having to remove the forks if possible. I have a trolley jack so I can lower it gradually and cable ties for the brake lever if needed.

FZS600 Fazer / Trying to make it all fit.
« on: 02 July 2017, 06:30:17 pm »
Just spent a couple of hours trying to fit everything on the bike ready for next weekends trip to the Mallory Bike Bonanza. I just hope there's room for me on it now

General / Anyone used one of these?

I have a habit of leaving my indicators on so I was looking for an audible warning device. This looks quite trick. It's my birthday soon and the OH keeps asking what I want.

Anyone else going? We're camping for the weekend, we've been going for the last 10 years or so. Always a great weekend especially if you like the old stuff. Loads of the old names milling about and a relaxed atmosphere.

General / Riding History. What bikes have you had?

It seems a lot of us have had a long time in the saddle. I was wondering what bikes we've owned in chronological order.
