Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: I'm Happy« on: 11 September 2013, 09:57:40 pm »
I,m more than happy with my Gen 1 Fazer's looks( like a proper motorbike) , acceleration , handling , fuel consumption at least 200 miles to a tank , comfort , touring ability( didn't miss a beat on my Scotland trip) , front brakes (saved my ass a few times) & even for a novice mechanic like me it's easy to work on .

They're not your side of Bristol but you could try JHS racing at the end of Keynsham bypass , they will fit tyres while u wait , for MOT I use Victor motorcycles on West street Bedminster .

General / Re: When did you pass your test and how difficult was it?« on: 26 August 2013, 08:22:44 pm »
I did the 2 part test in 1983 at 17 on a Z200 , can't remember much about the off road bit apart from a figure of 8 , I had to redo the road part when I nearly ran over the examiner on the emergency stop .

Had the front sprocket cover off to check the front sprocket , then spent 2 hours cleaning out the old lube , went through a whole can of degreaser .
Later in the day , took the Fazer for a blast down to Cheddar up through the Gorge and then back home . Nearly got squashed between 2 cagers when the car in front decided to do a u turn in front of me and the BMW behind nearly ran into the back of me when i slammed on the brakes to miss the car in front . 1089

Shame the Police can't put the same effort into the drug dealing /taking scumbag neighbours of mine , who have taken to sitting in there front garden smoking weed , throwing their empty cans of lager all over the street , playing loud music and shouting there heads off till 2 in the morning , when I have to get up for work in the morning . I don't blame the Police , they do want the government tells them.

I didn't get to Oban , but I will definitely visit Scotland again , friendliest people I've ever met , great scenery , great roads , couldn't find a pub selling thatchers gold though . That was the A82 by Loch Ness Red , shame we missed each other by a day , I was impressed with the Glen Nevis camp site . a good road I found was if you turn left at Nessie land , go a few miles then turn right towards Beauley . I've got the camping bug now , trying to get the missus to give camping a go , she won't get on the bike though . here's some more pics .

Yes , I made it to the top and back down in 7 hours , the average time is between 6 -8 hours I thought I was pretty fit until I saw people running up the mountain pass me , I got really bad cramps in my thighs about 900m up but I still made it up , I didn't have the right footwear though , it was a choice between canvass shoes or motorcycle boots so I wore the boots , glad I did it though .

I just got back from Scotland last night , if your looking for a wild camp you could pitch up by the lake halfway up Ben Nevis , joking aside I found Glen Nevis campsite at the foot of Ben Nevis wild enough for me , and an idea base to ride out from.
