Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Isle of man tt
« on: 04 May 2016, 09:22:47 pm »
Thought I let any of you TT fans know that's its still possible to get there during practice week, i think this year will be my 20th visit to the island but i will only go to the practise week as think its just as good as there a lot more room on the roads(its still busy) and the 10miles of mountain road is still one way so its nice to get there during practice week before the mountain circuit become a race track! if you return before or on Thursday 2nd june you save yourself around £100,a hour ago you could go on the 27th/28th May returning on Thursday 2nd June £109 bike+ rider, cheers Steve

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / front brake pads
« on: 04 May 2016, 08:58:37 pm »
well I just been on the internet trying to find how much genuine front brake pads are for my 2005 fzs1000,i not got a price yet, but I not in a rush its just that after fitting a new Yamaha clutch cable a few weeks ago that changed the whole bike I wondered what difference there be if i refitted my original brake pads that were fitted when I purchased the bike new on 1st March 2006,i had EBC HH in for some years but I don't think they be going back in(well not until I find out the price of OEM ones! the original pads are so much quieter, smoother, more feel & more powerful,i am not saying don't buy aftermarket parts but it been quite a shock to find out how good the OEM pads are,i will have to consider OEM pads as I believe they may be organic material which may not wear the disc much as all these HH sinstered pads appear to do,cheers Steve

Thought i post this incase it helpd someone,i purchased my new fzs1000 on 1st March 2006,the bike would have been in its 3rd year with 8000 miles on it before i first lubed the the whole clutch cable with WD40 or light weigh oil, since then i have done it at least once a year until i see oil dripping out the bottom of the cable, well i bit the bullet last week & ordered a new clutch cable from fowlers £40.57 + vat+ £3 postage! today i have fitted the cable today & i cant seem to get my head round how much lighter the clutch now is,its gets better than that all the gears up or down now select much much easier,if anyone was thinking of buying a genuine Yamaha cable i hope this helps, cheers Steve

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / my vibration has disappeared
« on: 11 June 2014, 07:16:06 pm »
I have owned my fzs1000 since march 2006[it was one of the last of the gen 1] at 2000miles I fitted a hyperpro front & rear springs which I was quite happy with until last year when at 21000 miles it was time to spend a bit of money on the best bike I ever owned,so last june I fitted a the upgraded r6 shock together with a set of Avon storms xm & a genuine chain & sprocket kit,the one thing I was disappointed with was the vibration thru the handlebars as I remember fitting chains kits to XS650s/CB750s/Z1 etc & it was like having a new bike but after fitting the original sprocket kit I was a bit disappointed that the bike felt  no smoother than before, when I was over the classic tt last August I asked a friend to take my bike out to see what he thought & he confirmed there was to much vibration there so when I got home I reved it up to 4000rpm on the mainstand to confirm how much vibration was there,i then slackened all the engine bolts off & restarted it on the main stand & reved it to 4000rpm & all the vibration had gone,i was so happy it had just gone & this bike has not been fitted with the ivans kit yet,i did then torque all the bolts back up to the correct figures but the vibration had come back,i then undone the bolts again & just done then up by hand & it has been super smooth since then,i just come back from the tt where I clocked up 1000miles & it still super smooth & all the bolts are tight so hope this has helped someone

Hi all,for those who have yet to fit  your new tyres I went to Wheel House Tyres in Coleshill today to  have a least 1 tyre fitted,on the way there I was thinking i just have a pair of Avon Storm Ultra:s fitted as I used them since the Storm range came out with no problems at all,if I had fitted the older Storms Ultra it would have cost £118 fitted but the quote for the Storm 3d xm fitted with the Avon free fitting was £114! With the new Storms 3d xm fitted the bike felt good from the word go,i only done 20 miles on them but yes I recommend them as I think they may well turn out to be  better tyre than the older Storms ,i post again in a week or so if anybody intrested, cheers Steve
