Funny you should say that UNFAZED...the round plug in the timing cover is rubber/plastic and I dont really want to paint it, its just starting to flake on the edges, hardly noticeable but I know its there  :rolleyes  so was thinking of stripping the silver off and leaving it black.........might work...

instant gasket it is then for the timing cover   :thumbup

no work on the fazer today, started work at 7 this morning and only just got in.....time to chill   ;)

Mmmmmm, not bad, I have a black frame which I think will help...

busy with other things at the weekend so no fazer fiddling, did have a hour in the garage tonight though and made a start on the masking.

Bought a few bits and pieces on the way home tonight, a bit more masking and blasted , cleaned and painted the front engine mount to give me a bit of motivation to get the job done  ;)

It would have been quicker and easier to have pulled the engine out than do all that masking up  :eek

Up early this morning, finisned sanding the block, scotchbright pad all over, bit more masking and I think all the hard work is now done, next is to give it a blow down and a wipe over with some panel wipe ....should have some paint on later today, ill post a piccie so SLIMWILLY can watch it dry  :lol

will give the garage a quick tidy before I start, why I have to completely empty my tool box and spread the contents over the floor to do a simple job ill never know   :o

Looks very good Red. Did you manage to get behind the block, below the carbs easy enough? How many coats did you use?
I really need to do mine.

Cheers guys  :)......day off today, so scotch bright all over and gave it another coat.iam using HYCOTE VHT paint, not used it before, not a bad match colour wise, coverage is really good and no runs...will leave it now untill the weekend to fully harden and then start to put things back together .

FIREBLAKE....back of the engine was ok so didnt paint, I just blended in on cylinders 1+4.when I de-mask I'll take a piccie of that area and post here...

Cleaned the rad bottom center bracket tonight, the one that bolts to the centre of the engine, sprayed with grey primer in readyness for a top coat of black, hung it up to dry and then brushed by it and knocked it too the floor    :o...I'll start again tomorrow  :rolleyes

Fitted the slotted timing cover plug to see what the colour match is like, I haven't painted the plug, not perfect but not bad ....

looking great red.

painting can be a nightmare - i finished my r6 wheels with their final coat of lacquer on my garage floor, stood up and knocked a spanner off the shelf which fell into the rear wheel and bounced around it before settling, took a step backwards in horror at what i had done and back heeled the front wheel which fell off the wooden supporting blocks and put a load of marks into the rim!
is it clean enough?
