For Sale & Wanted / FOR SALE Fazer 1000 PRICE REDUCED
« on: 01 August 2023, 07:28:08 pm »
Hi I am putting my 06 fazer 1000 up for sale I bought it in January 2011 with approx 13000 miles it has now covered 25120 miles 2000 miles in the last 4 years, I am the 4th keeper, the MOT was done on 23,3,23 at 25015 miles. The oil and filter was done at 23500 along with set of plugs, front tyre at 23500 rear tyre at 22800 both are Michelin pilot, had a new battery a couple of years ago, I had the forks rebuilt last winter and replaced the front brake pads, the rear shock was replaced with a bmw s1000rr, the alarm immobiliser has been removed as it was starting play up, the end can is a MTC stainless tri oval.
It is getting a bit big and heavy for  me as I am on the wrong side of 60 so I looking for something smaller and lighter.
I was looking for £1700 ono, there is also a top box (detachable) to go with it.
I am in Ayrshire SW Scotland

As you can see it has had some alterations, they were all done by myself in 2011 and has never had any problems at MOT time.

Fitted a new set of plugs as the bike was missing sometimes at low revs after being laid up for the winter, phoned the dealer and was quoted £38 a set, phoned euro car parts, 200 yards from the dealer, and got them for £22.40 a set a decent saving.

a 56 plate tango green se auto with manual override,  heated electric memory front seats heated back seats and a third row all leather, cruise control, climate control, sat-nav uprated ice a fridge in the cubby box and more, since buying it 7 months ago i have had a lot of work done to it. A new turbo, decat pipe, silicon hose kit, egr removal kit, all the timing belts, 6 new heater plugs, 6 new injectors, all the hard to get at brake pipes while the body was off, 2 rear tyres, 2 tie rods, a recon compressor and a ride hight sensor all the ride hights were set using an outologic computer and steering geometry set using a 4 wheel laser alignment, changed the sump pan filter and oil in the gearbox, it has 11 months MOT. and now the bad points it has done 190K mostly moterway miles as it was a company car and the front of the bonnet and grill could do with some paint, the parking sensors dont work but it drives better than some cars with half the miles, my local dealers words not mine, i have spent in the region of £12-12,250 on it i know i wont get that for it but it is overkill for me as i only do about 4K a year as its a second car and takes up a lot of space on the the drive and hope to replace it with a 90 CSW, i am looking for offers about £10.750, i know there are cheaper out there but most of the things that can go wrong have been done. suspension arms and bushes have been changed by the previous owner.

Went to the ulster gp, up at 00:45 down to Cairnryan for the 4 'o'clock ferry arrived at 6:15 went up to the circuit and had a walk round the paddocks before heading up to the hairpin to park up, watched the racing between tornagrough and the hairpin, had to bump start the bike heading back to the ferry, left the parking lights on for 8 hours, but made it on time for the 19:30 ferry back to Cairnryan a wet run home and bed about midnight, a long day. dont know the name yet of the rider who lost his yet RIP it can be a cruel sport.

I bought an arai quantum a year or so ago its a good fit, quite and comes with a pinlock as standad, as said earlier in the post you have to try them on, it wasnt the cheapest but it should last and if you work it out its not a lot per year if it lasts 5-6 year. but i still like an open facer for commuting during the summer.

there are a few good campsites, a good one within walking distance of Portree is torvaig, and another at the bottom of glenbrittle which is at the bottom of the black cuillin but there are plenty of good bunkhouses then you dont need to carry as much and they have drying rooms for wet kit (not that it rains much :lol ) youre second picture does look like Sgurr Nan Gillean taken from near Sligachan, another good campsite next to the hotel with a good selection of local ales and a vast selection of whisky and good food.
