throttle grip loose
« on: 06 August 2020, 09:27:25 pm »
My FZS600 was knocked over the other day but the only obvious damage was the throttle grip was loose, as that's what hit the road. Tightening those two allen key bolts on the housing just to the left of the grip, seemed to make it tight. However, I was on the motorway and suddenly the the grip became loose, this time not from side to side as previously but rather as you turned it. So you had to turn it much further than normal to get power. Managed to get home thankfully

I've taken a very short video that hopefully illustrates the issue.  Would be grateful for any advice about how to tighten it up.

Nb those 2 allen key bolts to the left of the grip are tight. Also, the outer plastic around the cable (as it meets the grip) is cracked and looks terrible admittedly, but has been that way for a long time, so I don't think is the cause here.

Glue between the rubber and the plastic tube has come unstuck. slide the grip off, put some more glue on. job done.

thanks for quick reply.  Can pull it about as much as shown in picture below. I'll put a few dabs of superglue on it tomorrow. Cheers!

Superglue is not ideal at all as it will become brittle over time. You need something like Evo-Stik Impact glue.
More people are born because of alcohol than will ever die from it.
