Exhaust headers
« on: 26 November 2015, 04:09:10 pm »
I need to remove my exhaust manifold and have read the bolts are prone to seasing/snapping, ive doused them in Wd40 over the last few weeks and just wondering if I need to heat them first as well or try taking them off cold, I could leave engine running for a few minutes first or us a torch on them or just od cold ????

Hi there.
Use plusgas wd40 and anything else as often as possible after riding. Use a plumbers blow torch on the nuts only and with care. Wanted to change my headers. Snapped two studs. Engine now out. Tried removing other studs snapped them. Ground them all off, centre punched carefully and going to drill and tap tomorrow. Should be 6mm studs with 10mm nut. Hope you have better luck than I did.
