I'm using Auto Aid, it's £38 a year for the bike and 2 cars. If you breakdown you have to sort it out yourself but they pay you back in full. I've not tried them out yet but the reviews all look ok

i added mine onto my Bennetts insurance, not cheap, about £75 for 12 months

considering if you buy a months cover elsewhere it will cost £50

That auto aid sounds cheap and it covers your car aswell...not too keen on trying to get my money back afterwards though.....will try my insurers, hastings , and see what they have to offer first...

AutoAid is fine have been using them for years, it is there if needed and have only needed it once so far, when car fuel pump went , asked em to take me and car home paid on credit card made sure I got receipt

filled in the form for autoaid sent off with receipt and got full amount back within 14 days and paid off credit card in full straight away., will carry on using them for £38 that covers 2 bikes and car or if needs be any other vehicle.... keep copy of receipt and claim form before posting just in case..

good for the money and no worries on getting cash repaid...

when touring europe on bike just have a hunt online for 10 day cover or whatever days needed checking it covers what countries am visiting.

So with Auto Aid,,you breakdown in Southern Italy,,gearbox gone,, it will cost how much to get your bike back to England ?

then you can claim it back... :rolleyes

Do Auto aid then hire you a car to continue you trip,,? put you up in a hotel if you are not going to your prebooked accomodation?

No autoaid is just for uk...do not remember on hotel/car hire claiming but think it does have a section for that..will have to have a read of it again been a while

As for europe as above I just get a 10 or 20 day cover online for bike touring the europe countries.

If your insurance is up, Bennetts are doing a decent package - all the add-ons inc RAC Euro cover for £50 (just decline the options at first! and wait for it to offer you) on top; I just went with them and have all the stuff and insurance for £140 all-in.  I have so say the one time I used RAC in the past, I was recovered off of the Fluelapass in under 35 minutes and back on the road quick (tbf the recovering garage were bloody helpful).

I have used QDOS previously, but they don't do personal cover for the continent anymore, still worth a look for single vehicle cover or short trip.

Not sure how old the OP's bike is, but I was told my 2003 could be left in Spain and effectively written off if I had to have it recovered back the my home in the uk as the costs could out way the value of the bike ...

just something else to consider

I get decent breakdown cover with my bank account, it's with green flag and covers my car and bike and euro cover as well I think.  Also account insures my iphone, free love film subscription, free world wide travel insurance incl sports and a couple of other things, Costs £10 per month with Rbs.

There are a lot of guys that use Breakdown Direct on the scottishbikers.co.uk forum. They swear by it. I'll see if its ever been used.

Tried Breakdown Direct but my Gen1 is 1 month over the less than 11 years old limit
, so used the company I bought it from last year Vehicle Rescue Direct, cost £32 for 18 days cover.

Just 10 days before I leave for Malta, can't wait
