General / inventive reasons for getting your fazers out
« on: 21 June 2015, 01:13:11 pm »
Ok fazerists....mrs red is not a bike fan and cant see the attraction of motorcycling....so I do feel a little guilty when I dissappear for hours on end , on the fazer, just for fun   :)........so, I find myself making excuses to go out, I do like to fettle and my latest excuses centre around test rides to see if things are all good......couple of weeks ago I painted the engine on my thou and had to take it out on a long ride so the heat of the engine fully cured the paint....worked a treat, gone best part of the day and no back lash   ;)

Iam planning to go out this afternoon, so have spent some time in the garage.....I gave the thou a quick wash and shammy, but how ever hard I tried could not fully dry the fazer, dont want to put the cover on a damp bike so will have to take it for a test ride hoping that the wind blast will cure this nightmare of a problem....if I cant cure the problem I ill have to use mrs reds car for work in the morning   :rolleyes

so, what excusses have you used in the past to sneak out on your fazers.....got to be good uns as I might use them myself  :lol

General / fazer down
« on: 16 June 2015, 07:14:55 pm »
After 35 years of accident free riding ive had an accident   :\...filtering through very busy rush hour ,lady decides to do a U-turn, said she looked but did'nt see me.pulled out hit my left bar end, steering the bike into her drivers side door, bike went down on its right side leaving me standing there ......bit shook up with bruises on my legs just above the boot line and
a sore /  bruised right wrist......my speed 4/5 mph, cars speed 1/2mph we both stopped dead....

admitted she was doing a u - turn but would not admit liability, said the same to police lady who stopped to see if we were alright  :thumbup

Two vans stopped, turned out to be brothers and bikers, gave me their card as were witnesses, and then loaded bike onto their van and gave me a lift home......you dont meet people like this very often , its foccin good when you do.top guys   :thumbup

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / engine re-paint, silver
« on: 06 May 2015, 08:27:31 pm »
The silver paint on my thou's engine is flaking bad, ive just replaced the fork seals so thought it a good time to sort the flakey paint out, forks off the bike so I can easily get to the front of the engine, started dismantling at the weekend, exhaust, radiator, oil filter +oil , clutch cover, generator cover and timing cover, going to blast the three covers as they are quite bad and are the first thing you see, will paint them off the bike and refit with new gaskets, front of the engine I will attack with gunk and a selection of wire brushes, a lot of it will be hidden by the rad and exhaust but it looks awful  :eek....I bought a blast gun years ago but my compressor is not quite man enough to power it, got loads of air at work, most of it hot  :rolleyes and the boss is away untill next week, guess what iam doing friday  ;)

so, anyone else done this job ?.or got any tips ?...

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / brake or fork oil ?
« on: 28 April 2015, 08:01:33 pm »
Bit strange this...checking the bike over a few weeks back and I notice offside front caliper is soaked in what looks brake fluid.looks like its been sprayed on, cant see any obvious leaks and the reservoir is more or less full....a closer look this evening and the inside of the fork leg is also wet...so iam now thinking the fork seals are weeping, dripping onto the wheel and then coating the caliper as the wheel turns.........to rule out any brake problems ive made up some wooden brake pads  :rolleyes and clamped the lever to the bar to create a bit of pressure, will leave over night and check in the morning.

anyone have fork seals go like this ?
