« on: 06 April 2019, 11:39:44 am »

Me, im in a suburb 40mins south of Perth in Western Australia and just 8 mins to the beach 8) .. we emigrated complete with bike in 2016 from Buckinghamshire. ridings is not the same here, you dare not ride around dusk or around dawn due to the daft feckin roo's.

General / Australian owners
« on: 06 February 2017, 06:40:55 am »

hi guys, ive surfaced again ;)
well my 600 fazer arrived in perth wa last week... now I need a little advice here.... my tyres are a bit borderline and the bike needs to go over the pits to be certified here, then I can apply for rego.

I'm trying to find tyres for the bike...  110/70/17 front seems to be a problem to source.

so, could I get away with 120/60/17 ? or 110/80/17? ... dunno if that would handle well?

or where to source tyres in wa or aus, either online or in store.

anyway... for the poms in the uk... its around 30c here and lovely and sunny... down side... cant use my bike yet. :( :(

« on: 06 November 2016, 10:03:11 am »

well that's it, in 7 days we emigrate to Australia, hence why ive not been on here... we have a list that each time we tick off it gets longer.
anyway the bike goes in the crate on Tuesday and wont see the light until some time in January.. that's if some pirate aint buzzing around on it.

are there any aussie members on here in the Perth area??

its been fun biking in the uk for the last 32 years on and off...now to do it in sunny climes.

FZS600 Fazer / i know its been asked before... but
« on: 27 July 2016, 06:51:37 pm »
its proberbley been covered a hundred times before.... but here we go..  Maxxis tyres, who uses them and whats you opinion of them ?
I was looking at the supermaxx touring 6029 tyres as they seem a good price from round n blacks.
I have bridgestones at the moment and they had give good levels of grip all round but have now been chewed to bits.. ive used dunlops in the past on my gsx1400 but they don't last long , but offer very good levels of grip.

so anyway... Maxxis... views, good and bad.

General / aches and pains
« on: 20 June 2015, 06:05:36 pm »
ok, so im 47years old and falling apart :eek :eek... 2 focced knees and a gammy hip :rolleyes... the knees because when your young you don't think to use knee pads :uhuh ( im  a heating engineer so on my knees most of the day some days ) the hip because of 3 offs on the right side 30 years ago,   so I can only ride for about an hour before I have to stop for a break... doesn't matter if im riding like a god :sun or just bumbling around. 8) 8) 8)

so who else suffers :rolleyes

FZS600 Fazer / cooling fan
« on: 09 May 2015, 01:24:56 pm »
how often do you guys hear your cooling fan kick in?
I had a bit of a enthusiastic ride the other day and when I pulled up at home and left the bike running while fluffing moving cars and opening the garage I never heard the fan kick in, infact ive never heard it. the red OMG light had never flashed either.

FZS600 Fazer / fitting kph clocks
« on: 03 March 2015, 06:51:23 pm »
ok here we go, this will be one for you.
I have a 2002 fazer obviously with mph clocks.... now at the end of next year my bike will be shoved into a container and lugged off halfway round the world to Australia  8), now since they got a little bit independent they now do things in kph.
so my question is...... will euro speck IE French, german or what clocks fit by just plugging in?? as I would like to be able to  read the kph instead of having to squint to read them. :rolleyes

FZS600 Fazer / strange idle
« on: 22 February 2015, 02:17:20 pm »
over the winter ive been tinkering ( read cocking up ) and tidying up my bike.
I had it running in the garage after a little run out this morning.
while ticking over the idle sits at about 1150 to 1200 rpm with the lights on... when I turned the lights off the idle went up to around 1600 rpm... so the burning question is why?, coz ive not got a clue.. :rolleyes

FZS600 Fazer / torque arm
« on: 19 February 2015, 05:30:15 pm »
where do you guys get these fancy torque arms?
I would like to replace mine with something a bit more blingy as I have that rusty old lump of pig iron on mine. :rolleyes

FZS600 Fazer / forks
« on: 27 June 2014, 06:34:42 pm »
hi guys, in my lame attempt to tidy up my fazer which isn't really happening as all I want to do is keep riding it :D
I have a list of things I ned / want to do, the one thing that bugging me is the front forks.
they are badly pitted on the chrome stations.   I could go down the re chroming route or just replace them with a good used pair.
ive poked around on fleabay and there doesn't seem to be any that are worth a toss.

my question is, would thundercat forks fit or what othe model would fit, but still using the fazers speedo pickup.
bikes a 2002 foxeye.

FZS600 Fazer / cam end caps
« on: 06 April 2014, 01:58:48 pm »
I want to take my cam end caps off to tidy them up.
do they have gaskets or  anything behind them that I will need to replace when I re fit them?

im bored, its raining and I have to mow the moss...but  I cant as its wet..if I stay indoors, er indoors will find me something to do.
so my plan is to hide in the garage.. :lol

FZS600 Fazer / what size socket.
« on: 17 March 2014, 07:51:40 pm »
had to order a new sprocket nut, seems none of the dealers around here keep it in stock.. :rolleyes

what size socket will I need to fit said nut ?...when it arrives :rolleyes

FZS600 Fazer / no nuts
« on: 16 March 2014, 05:46:01 pm »
yep, its happened to me...no sprocket nut!
took the cover off just to check as ive only had the bike a couple of weeks...no nut, just the tab washer laying in the sprocket cover.. the thread is fine and so is the sprocket... the thread is dirty as though its been missing a while.
ive only done around 40 miles on it so far, and its the 1st chance ive had to check it...glad I did..

they  are recent chain and sprockets sets, so im guessing they either fitted the old nut or the 9mm one and not tight enough???

anyway, guess il be trotting off to a dealers tomorrow for a new one. :rolleyes

FZS600 Fazer / Aint that bad?
« on: 01 March 2014, 06:59:20 pm »
just picked up my 600 fox eye.
after a 40 mile shake down ride home, all seems good, no real faults..it handles well goes pretty good for a 600.

so ive had a half arsed go with the polish when I got home, just to see how it would clean up.

it just needs a good clean :)

I have a list of jobs to do
the fairing is craked , so I will repair and paint that.
the tail  panels are a bit scratched so I will maybe look for some good used or paint them
the polished bits, foot rests etc need a good polish up again.
the gear linkage is very sloppy, I think the bush in the foot rest part is worn/ non existent...can the bush be replace or is it the whole thing?

other than that, im just looking forward to using it a lot.. :D

FZS600 Fazer / gawn and done it
« on: 26 February 2014, 07:17:57 pm »
well, after signing up here on boxing day.... ive gawn n done it.
in at the deep end with a fazer 600 2002 model in blue.
il post some pics up at the weekend if I get time, il be collecting it on Saturday.....its going to be a little project as its a little scruffy around the edges.
its done 70k but with full history rides and runs very well...just needs a bit of fettling.

il proberbly start another thread..".can you polish a turd" or something.. :rollin

this is what I used to bling up...

Introduction / hello
« on: 26 December 2013, 01:09:23 pm »
right, hi im steve and im getting old (46)
im looking at bying an early fazer600 to replace a zzr600.
I have a bit of biking history so im not a compleat numpty :rollin
in the past ive owner a bandit 600 and a gsx1400 as well as a few tiddlers and the kawakrappy that is going...too uncomfortable for my aches.
anyway the reason im he on this forum is to do my homework and find out the good and bad points of the 600.
I did ride one a few hundred miles, but that was around 12 years ago....I do recall it being a nice ride.
anyway, enough rambling...im going to poke about a bit,

cheers, steve.
