Nice BM but the top box looks massive on the bike.

Cheers.   It may look a little big in the ferry shot due to the distortion of the 7mm lens I used (14mm equiv in 135 format)
Here’s a more representative shot;

Last place I went to for immobiliser installation I had to catch a taxi back as they didn't have the insurance to lend me a bike.
Quote
They don't need insurance,  :groan as long as you have a policy that allows to you ride other bikes your good to go.

Most, but not all, insurance policies allow you to ride other private bikes that do not belong to you with the owners permission and as long as the bike has a valid private insurance policy on it.

The vast majority of policies (as far as I am aware) will not allow you to ride bikes owned by commercial businesses.

And if you are taking a courtesy bike, remember it is your legal responsibility to ensure that you are suitably insured.  Make sure their policy is comprehensive and check the excess.

I know it's been going on forever but drivers who snear at you as if you're a piece of shit as you filter past them.I noticed one wanker in his door mirror yesterday .
Most drivers are cool and give you room, but there’s always a handful of wankers and you gotta be careful with them.

Your lame attempt to feign chivalry doesn't fool me. That I can guarantee you ;) .

The 'Report to moderator facility' is open to all. Feel free to use it. I certainly have where you're concerned :) .

Well I will say no more.  I think your last couple of posts speak clearly of you.

Yeah I know. You don't need to tell me that. I've already had some of your previous posts deleted after reporting them to the admin in the past ;)

I’ve only ever contacted the mods once –  I was probably a bit hasty (sorry Ogri) but I was upfront and honest about it.  I expressed my displeasure (again perhaps in haste) and was 100% open and upfront about contacting the mods.

I’m not even aware of any of my posts being deleted.  I am aware that one post – that was not political – was altered on the back of an anonymous complaint.

I in turn complained that my post has been edited – something that should not, in my view, ever happen.

However I did caution the moderator, whom I have no doubt was trying to their level best, to be wary of potentially doing the bidding of others.

Your statement above demonstrates why we cannot have political discussion here – some people just cannot behave – it is not a discussion for you YamFazFan – it is a game and a competition.

Failing that can you just delete posts #3630 & #3631 as they're the most blatantly political.
You have to PM the moderator(s) if you are not happy.

Quote
Don't think that's political
But in any case, moderator mtread has declared discussing climate change not political.

Quote
Why doesn't one of you just start a political thread in 'the naughty corner'?
The naughty corner even exist?  It should be deleted.

As for this thread... what gets my Goat, when the fucking Council decide to dig up 10 different parts of a road at once instead of working on 1 at a time but still only have 3 blokes working on it 🙄
They have just resurfaced a couple of the streets I ride along to the centre of town.  Done a nice job too.  But that just means the gas/leccy/water company will be along to dig it up any day soon.

Well OK. :eek

Look the UK in terms of CO2 emissions per person is one of the biggest polluters and contributors to global warming.

But of course the biggest emitter of all, per person, is the USA.  But whilst the USA is currently on fire due to rising temperatures, their president Donald Trump is in denial of climate change and refuses to take any action, in fact he is on course to continue to increase CO2 emissions in the USA.

But the reality is that man made climate change is happening and we need to reduce our emissions.

There already is demand for solutions, that demand will increase rapidly over the next decade.  Many complain the cost of reducing emissions  is too high and will damage our economies – whereas the clear reality is that not doing anything will cost many times more.

Where there is demand there is opportunity.  The smart thing to do is to develop the solutions and implement them, in turn becoming world leaders in emission reduction on the road to a carbon neutral economy.  The big economic growth over the next two to three decades will be in the new energy and recycling markets.  Those who have the solutions will sell them round the globe.

Moderators', can we have every post back to and including #3619 removed due to infringement of the no politics ruling please?. That includes one by each of yourselves @Grahamm & @b1k3rdude BTW.
How do you figure that?

It is a discussion on speed limits.

But you have steered it onto a political discussion.  You seem to be claiming, not for the first time, that the UK need do nothing about climate change. I think your argument is that we are too small, whilst other bigger countries, who emit more, but less in terms of emissions per person, need to do more to reduce their emissions.

Obviously, we have been over this before, and it is clearly a political discussion, whereas speed limits and their effectiveness in reducing pollution/emissions need not be.

I disagree strongly with the point you are, not for the first, making, but to respond to it would be to engage in a political discussion.

So, if you would kindly delete your post number 3626, I will in turn delete my post 3627 pointing out your mistake.

Not being funny, but you always seem to have something wrong with you. I've lost count of the number of maladies you've reported and detailed on here.
If it helps you, I don't think I've seen or contacted my GP for over a year now.  And its only the common cold I've had in the last week, well I think it was/is.

India has some very serious figures right now.
Quote
Averaging 95,000 Positive tests a DAY, and in the last 3 days there have been 1000, 1100 & 1200+ deaths, so is still rising rapidly.
Obviously they have a massive population in comparison, but their curve is skyrocketing.
No its not good.  They do have a population of around 1.35 billion though.  At the moment in terms of deaths per 1 million they lie in 72th place in the world.

The graph I am looking at shows a steady rise, it is not spiking, though that doesn't mean it won't.  Same deaths.

It is the USA that I find interesting.  Yesterday almost 40,000 new cases recorded.  Plus they seem to be running at just short of a thousand deaths a day.  They sit 11th in the world for deaths per 1 million, but they are moving up the chart.  UK is in 7th place.

Not sure where this is all going.

Anyway I had a stinking cold last week.  How the heck did I catch a cold with social distancing, face masks, constant hand washing etc etc.  I'm still wheezing.

Second wave imminent.
Maybe yes, but what impact will it have?

I've been looking at the stats on worldometer.

Firstly new cases.  Remember all countries are most likely doing much more testing, and better testing, than they were back in march.  So we will see more cases, so its difficult to compare with march and april.

I just looked at a few Euro countries, you know countries that are similar (ish) to us.  Spain shows the biggest spike.  The number of cases they are detecting each day looks worrysome.

But then back in march they had almost 1000 deaths a day at one point.  The last few days they have ranged between 15 and 184.
There is a clear delay between infection increase and recorded deaths.  Spain is worth watching.  The thing that really counts over the next few weeks/couple of months, is hospital admissions and deaths.

Bear in mind in Scotland, around half our deaths were in care homes.  That was a fuck up.  That shouldn't happen again.  I think the same mistake was made in England.

It is probably the right thing to do to be cautious at this time, but could it be that this virus, for whatever reason has lost its bite?  Lets hope so.

Of course my worry is that we won't learn the lessons.  The world needs to figure out how it can minimise the possibility of another pandemic.

And oh to be young and foolish again. :\

Didn't realise when I saw it in the other thread that you had bought it back, thought you just had it in for a bit of work.
It sure looks like it has been looked after.   And those cans tidy it up nicely.  Definately a bike that makes an impression.
And foc me - look at that torque!  I thought my R150R was torquey, which it is, but that thing is taking the biscuit.

How low will it pull from?  I find with the Beemer, it is a bit lumpy below 2500 rpm.  So whereas with the thou I'll roll through towns at 30mph in 6th, with the boxer its not really 100% smooth and happy unless I pop it down to 3rd.

If you are that tight or desperate,

Yup you can bag em, but you might also find your local tyre fitting centre has a big pile of tyres sitting in their yard.  I wouldn't imagine they would notice an addition or two.  Bear in mind they will probably also have CCTV.

I've come across yet another average speed camera zone up here in bonnie Scotland.

A few weeks ago I discovered a stretch running fae Tyndrum doon tae Crianlarich.  And by the way, blink and you'll miss the warning sign and camera.

On Saturday I was up early and heading fae the hills.  I was heading for Glen Lyon, and I found another stretch running from Crianlarich to the junction for Killin.   Road was still quiet being still early when I reached that bit - so stuck at 60mph.
I get the feeling they are gonna end up all over the trunk road network.

I've already found with a DID ZVM chain and a Scottoiler that there is no need to adjust the chain between tyre changes (about 5500 mile fae me).  On a chain that has done over 20,000 miles I can't measure any wear.

So I'm not that surprised by BMW's claims.

The problem is you still have sprocket wear, in particular the front sprocket.  Mine was starting to look a little spent after 12,000 miles.  So I just popped in another (20 quid), I didn't bother fitting a new chain (170 quid) or rear sprocket (45 quid).
So have BMW also invented almost ever lasting sprocket, or are they advising you swap out the front sprocket now and again - and how many times?
