Broken TPS
« on: 21 October 2020, 07:03:07 pm »
Hi all,
Riding home the other day, noticed the tacho going to 3k. Nothing too dodgy on bike, felt a bit boggy at steady speed, like running out of petrol as I went to accelerate.
TPS.
Got Haynes out, Check the resistance accross the terminals - black/blue to blue = 5.5 (should be between 0 and 5 (+-1)) - blue to yellow = no resistance (should be 0-5 (+-1))
I've tried adjusting it, but just get the 3k error.
So broken!(?)

My questions are, do I need a new new one, can I get a second hand one? Are there any cheaper options?I saw a comment on a thread on here saying T-Max one fits but having had a look I can't see how - T-Max connects on the unit, FZS1000 one connects along the cable.

Where do people buy their Throttle position sensors? Can't find it on Wemoto, Ebay has one for £160...

Thank you!
Tom

Never had an issue with the tps on a bike but the one on the Audi is just starting to play up. Had to reset it 3 times in the last 2 weeks.

Thanks TeeCee,
I did see some stuff on that, but currently best price I can find on the suzuki one is £120 so for that I might as well just get the yam one!
Celtic yeah I was surprised too, bikes only done ~20k!

The Suzuki one is just another option if you can find one at a reasonable price. I think there is one on Ebay for about £80 but coming direct from Japan.....
