reposted as something hapenned to all the sizes as you think its the battery then just start with looking at that (lights etc off) 1:- do you have a electrical tester - get bike running on bike batt and test your voltage is 14-14.8 volts while running.(bet its low) -infact what was it reading before and after running 2:- take a battery from a mates bike or use jump leads to a car battery (not a running car and do not have your bike battery in the setup as you are only using the car battery as a bike battery) while running test voltage on car battery -if voltages seem ok then test your lighting system
let us know the results if you read anything above 15v across the battery kill engine and instantly disconnect battery (reg/rec gone) battery cooked if you read well below 14v then its not creating enough juice and is likely a reg/rec gone battery might be savable if all is reading as it should then you know the issue is elsewhere in the system (i hate electrics for fault finding)

true - but i find getting that extra piece is normally only a couple quid extra if you buy the kit wheel bearings are a piece of piss to replace anyhow - more work in getting the wheel out -that is if you have the right tools for the job - just did a seat alhambra and i definatly didnt have the right tools lol (big press needed for that one) freeze your new bearings and they will go in easy enough as they have shrunk

Everyone loves changing wheel bearings “as a precaution” but it’s unnecessary unless the bearing actually exhibits roughness or free play. I would change the dust seals though.
got to love that -no need to change bearings but get new dust seals -where the hell you get dust seals on there own ??? -ebay is awash with bearing kits - go all out and get the lot replaced if your getting the seals done - if you think bearings are fine and dont want to replace, rubber can be revitalised to give it a bit of extra life by giving a soak in a silicone spray as it contains plasticisers, wd can work aswell i think but might not be to same effect i get with silicone
(edit) - dont allow to soak in wd for too long though 10-20 mins max

someone has already mentioned this but it just happened this morning kickstand up, in gear so clutch in, press start and nothing but lights on the dash instantly remembered this thread so took notice of what i did instead of just doing and forget kill switch off, kill switch on, press button and off she went my guess is that the contacts in the kill switch are showing there age (i know that feeling) if you have an electrical tester you can check for continuity changes over the wires which i think are red and red with black tracer just remember to unplug the connector so you are only checking the switch

i would definatly chance the £20 for new plugs and caps before attempting to remove the carbs for cleaning honestly the ball ache is unbelievable and there is nothing wrong with new plugs now and again and redex does not constitute a carb clean. - even redex themselves dont mention carbs but so many fall for it

side stand switch and clutch switch seem the likely culprits

pretty much - paypal is currently holding the original payment but as it was put as 'unautherised payment' it may have been a hacked account so i will never see that as it stands at the moment is the bike is being held at ransom and i am without the money i needed to pay the fees for a house i needed to rent and move too, this means i cant start my new job and im sure you can see how the world tumbles from there. i have tried every thing i can think of to try and get this back and its not looking good
i have text him this morning saying that if the bike shows up here with a certain courier i will pay the courier and will inform police the bike is no longer stolen but god knows what is happening. hopefully a bike will show up here in the next few days otherwise im making a few calls and taking a little trip

ok just been hit badly by this one sold my chop on ebay had some communication before hand and sent a video of bike running etc (but after winning) Buyer never came to view just emailed, after winning i thought buyer would come up and collect paypal payment in different name and a courior came (i hold nothing against courior he is mearly caught up in this) phonecall saying bike wouldnt start battery had died -ok no problem will pay for a new battery as i kept it on an optimate and never noticed (i thought) nothing heard for a few days then suddenly money on paypal was marked as unautherised payment contacted buyer and said he didnt want bike anymore make a refund and collect bike ok at least i get the bike back as i had regretted selling it but needed cash but hang on paypal has taken money back so i have no cash - buyer will not return bike untill i pay £1000 refund (thats 2k total) reported to police fraud team but cant tell you to much about that told him police informed bike now reported 'stolen by fraud' said i will even pay for same logistics guy to return it (so i can warn him) im taking a big hit without that bike back and a smaller one paying for the return. so looks like my streetfighter build is now on hold as will have to tear down the chop to see if any malicious damage has been done. if i ever get it back that is - this is why i like to do deals with a viewing and a handshake i always view a bike buy even travveling 200 miles to do so

before removing the carbs as it is a ball ache with the airbox are you able to do a compression check it can give you ideas of what could be happening that can save a lot of time removing carbs refitting then figuring out its something different like a blown gasket or non seating valve and having to remove all over again i made this mistake once and wasted an entire day

DO NOT USE A TERMINAL BLOCK worst case scenario if cleaning it out wont work is to strip back a bit of wire either side of connector on damaged wire and solder on a new piece either side with a male and female connector inbetween - will look tidier will be easier to disconnect and will be less likely to break again than a terminal block -will have a look in my box of bits tommorow and see if i still have that bit there from my koso(ish) conversion

remember if you block the surrounding edge there is still a drain hole to blow through - unless you block aswell but then no drain holejust ordered a new link pipe and can from Black widow exhausts for a mere £118 its the best im likely to find at that kind of price with removable baffle / on ebay the link pipes are around £40 alone might slice open the OEM exhaust to show what is going on inside of there
