Posted the bar ends today. I bought aftermarket alloy ones and then noticed the bars buzzed. Would be a good addition to the Renthals. M16x1.5mm tap and about half inch lopping off the bars.

FZ6 / Fazer / Thinking of buying one.. Until today..
« on: 29 August 2017, 07:14:10 pm »
Just sold my Fazer 1000 and already miss not having a bike. Took an hour..
Found a 2008 ABS FZ6 and went for a look. All okay I thought apart from the header clamps and nuts were falling apart! I know that part of the engine gets all the road crap, but this was well on the way to falling apart. Any attempt to undue any of the nuts would have resulted in a snapped stud. Poor bloke was not aware of how bad they were. Traveled 80 miles to see it so thought I would have a ride on it since the owner offered. Gutless! I was expecting a nice crisp acceleration but it was slower than my old KLE500. Now when I did a check on the bike it came back as having 79bhp. I thought these were 98?? Was a little puzzled.

After dropping my Fazer. Side stand malfunction down to me not fully extending it  :'( I was lucky enough not to damage too much. The bars bent and only just touched the tank. Tiny chip out of the paint and bent lever. Few scratches to the fairing and gen cover but no cracks. I should be able to fill and touch up.
I managed to get some 758 bars for £30 off fleebay. What a difference in the ride! Really feels tons better and not sure if it's the bars or the confidence it has given me but I swear the front end is lighter! That wheel likes to come up!

It comes with wiring to plug into speedo sensor plug which is located behind right side cover where fuel pump is. Also need to connect to grey pickup wire also in same place and I used the rear brake switch positive for the switched live. Very easy job.

Check the charging voltage while its running. Batteries can go bad at any age. What charger are you using?

Bracket was made. Easy enough though. The gear indicator works very well. Almost instant. Only time it gets confused is if you coast a little with the clutch in and blip the throttle. Understandable though. Very happy with it.

Check for loose connections on the ignition system too. Coils in particular. Had similar problems on other bikes and can be hard to find cause.

Try this website. Used it when my car buggered up to get it to garage. https://www.shiply.com/

Their not the easiest carbs to remove. Let the garage sort them because if you don't fix them correctly you are back to square one and oil ain't cheap to keep replacing.

At least its had an engine flush! Its a dangerous condition and if you put a bike away for the winter then always best to drain the fuel. When I used to have my shop I used to offer a " Hibernation Service". Drain fuel, look after the battery and service the brakes, then get bike up and running at the first day of biking weather!

Cheers Robbo. I don't mind investing for the right bit of kit. Don't want one with the sensors that you have to attached like a door sensor on a house alarm!

I would be worried about the needle valves in the float chamber. Could be dumping fuel into the oil. If the oil level is going up then it's probably being diluted by petrol. Needs looking at properly.

Hi All,
Has anybody fitted one of these? I had a Datatool one on my 600 and was a pain to set up and quite slow to register and got confused quite a bit!

Found this on Fleebay and would like thoughts please!

I personally wouldn't try removing studs. Way too much hassle if they snap. Never goes right drilling out the broken studs. Get the old nuts off, clean the original studs and copper grease the new stainless steel flange nuts back on.

I would be very careful if you are taking the adjusters out. The threads are prone to staying in the fork leg. I would try sorting them when still in the fork leg.

They have an O ring seal but guess it doesn't do much!
