FZ6 / Fazer / Thinking of buying one.. Until today..
« on: 29 August 2017, 07:14:10 pm »
Just sold my Fazer 1000 and already miss not having a bike. Took an hour..
Found a 2008 ABS FZ6 and went for a look. All okay I thought apart from the header clamps and nuts were falling apart! I know that part of the engine gets all the road crap, but this was well on the way to falling apart. Any attempt to undue any of the nuts would have resulted in a snapped stud. Poor bloke was not aware of how bad they were. Traveled 80 miles to see it so thought I would have a ride on it since the owner offered. Gutless! I was expecting a nice crisp acceleration but it was slower than my old KLE500. Now when I did a check on the bike it came back as having 79bhp. I thought these were 98?? Was a little puzzled.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Renthal 758 Bars.
« on: 29 July 2017, 05:08:38 pm »
After dropping my Fazer. Side stand malfunction down to me not fully extending it  :'( I was lucky enough not to damage too much. The bars bent and only just touched the tank. Tiny chip out of the paint and bent lever. Few scratches to the fairing and gen cover but no cracks. I should be able to fill and touch up.
I managed to get some 758 bars for £30 off fleebay. What a difference in the ride! Really feels tons better and not sure if it's the bars or the confidence it has given me but I swear the front end is lighter! That wheel likes to come up!

Hi All,
Has anybody fitted one of these? I had a Datatool one on my 600 and was a pain to set up and quite slow to register and got confused quite a bit!

Found this on Fleebay and would like thoughts please!

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Got bored!
« on: 21 March 2017, 08:47:48 pm »
I had a set of knackered legs off an FZS1000 with totally seized compression adjusters. One unscrewed fine, other left all it's threads in the leg. Got my hacksaw to work so I could see where they seize.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Front fork experiment
« on: 28 November 2015, 07:44:23 pm »
Hi all,
I know it's been covered many many times about how utter crap these standard forks are. I have not ridden her much due to the choppy ride so decided to experiment with a set of 2009 FZ6 forks I got hold of. The stanchions on both FZS1000 and FZ6 are 43mm diameter, but the FZ6 forks don't use any kind of adjustment. Here's what I have managed to do;
I used FZS1000 bottoms, FZ6 stanchions, FZ6 damper rods including cups. The only issue was the high speed compression valve protrudes on one side where the damper cup needs to sit flush. I made a 21mm x 9mm spacer with M10 hole so cup can sit flush. I had to use 60mm long allen bolts instead of the standard ones but all bolted down securely.  I used FZS1000 springs, FZ6 tubes and washers and FZ6 tops. Left 140mm air gap with no spring and stanchion compressed.
The sag is same as original fork but they feel like normal suspension.
Not been able to test ride yet  but all is looking promising!

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Fork Settings
« on: 28 April 2015, 08:10:18 pm »
Hi All,
I have finally upgraded to the litre and my god... What a difference! Love it.
Only problem, front forks... All three adjustments move but has anybody got a general starting point for an okay ride? At the moment it feels like Im riding over a cobbled road most of the time. Like the forks cant react quick enough.
Any ideas?

FZ6 / Fazer / FZ6 won't start
« on: 12 October 2014, 05:38:56 pm »
I wonder if anybody else has had this problem..
Fixed a wiring fault which caused hi temp and no fuel priming and thought all was well until it came to starting it. It does fire but only if you turn it over with fully open throttle for a few seconds then turn it over with throttle closed. It won't rev and won't start again. Its like the injectors are not getting the correct info about how much they should be fuelling the engine.
Throttle position sensor has been checked and set, crank sensor as well.
Any ideas?? Spend a day looking and testing but getting nowhere!
Cheers,
Steve.

FZ6 / Fazer / Hi temp and fuel pump not working fault
« on: 08 October 2014, 10:08:21 am »
I All,
Just sharing a little knowledge after working on a FZ6 where engine turns over but immobilizer won't turn off and hi temp reading on speedo.
After many hours scratching my head realised it could be a broken wire or circuit. I traced black/white wires to a small connector where 4 bk/w wires go in. Its taped onto loom near ECU. As soon as I moved it fuel pump primed! I took top off and it has a connector bar which pulls out and was corroded. Cleaned it up and hey presto, fixed.
Hope this info is useful and will save a fortune paying for mechanics to scratch heads and charge you for the privilege!
Steve.

Price aint an issue but sound it! Standard sounds a little quiet for me, front pipes are standard and in excellent condition so wont be changing them. Oh, needs to have removable baffle  :D
What do you think of Scorpion? Its about the only one that sounds okay but heard it on Youtube  :rolleyes

Steve.
