I’ve got a shitty shark s600. Cost me like £90, It’s 4 years old. I’ve done about 15k in it. It fkn stinks. It’s an absolute piece of shit and my ears ring from the wind noise

I’ll have an hjc rpha 70 this year, as it was absolutely sexual when I tried one on the other month

As stated in one of the earlier posts fix the rear first, anything over 20stone will need a spring change on the S1000rr shock.
Dropping the front will only make it turn in faster, the Fzs1000 has a tendency to run wide out of bends especially when giving it the beans and dropping the front won't fix that, it needs a lot of work to reduce/stop it.
It can be done with just upgrading the fork springs and increase the the fork oil to 7.5w minimum, playing around with the compression and rebound damping, but is a slow process
I have noticed over the years that oils from different companies do not work the same even if they have the same weight markings.

Running wide out of bends is exactly it ! I’ve wound the preload in to no rings showing and it still dives badly. Using 110mm of travel on spirited riding with some hard braking. It seems the first 2 inches of the spring are just pure sag and slop , maybe someone put progressive springs in at some point. Either way they’re pretty shagged, time for a rebuild

I have the s1000rr shock to fit when I can get around to it. I’ll probably get ktec or someone to redo the forks after that. Anyone decent in the midlands to do my forks ?

So I need to do some serious tweaking to sharpen up the front end on my gen 1.  What are the limits of raising the forks through clamps before it’s gets a bit slappy? I’m thinking I’ll go for 15mm straight away as it’s so slow to tip in. Loads of dive under braking and the preload is pretty much all the way out, I’m 23 stone lol so I’m going to need to wind it right in a fair bit me thinks ... any suggestions?

Angel st

Absolutely epic tyres

I’ve inherited angel gt on my new to me gen1 thou and they are fantastic tbh, but I had angel st on my last bike which was an mt09 tracer. The st are cheaper and some say, stickier. I’m a fat bastard and the GT Are supposed to be for touring and bigger bikes etc

I’d go with angel st. Absolutely mint and very sticky

I dare say this has been done to death on here and every where, but still ...

When I’m riding steady, commuting and in traffic etc I’ll always use the clutch. But when I’m hard on it up through the gears, I just get off the throttle and snick the next cog in, one after another

Is this likely to fk it up ?

There's the 'Fuzzyone' mod for the standard mirror setup which works very well, I've done it to my previous and current Gen1.

I had the same issue , I went and got a set of mirrors off a fz1n and a Yamaha clutch perch with the threaded collar off flea bay and removed the standard mirrors and blanked off with some dome head bolts ,happy days   :)

Any pics mate ?

all I can see is my shoulders ffs

Any mounts to move them out or mirror swaps ?

I saw some where cbr1000rr mirrors fit and they looked a bit wider ?

Don’t want bar end as they all seem to be that wide I’d have a nightmare filtering in traffic

Cheers mate. I found them very interesting, and I reckon I’ll be coming back to them many times in the future

I’ve put osram nightbreaker plus bulbs in mine, I must say they are excellent at night.

I read something saying the “night racer” were the bike ones as they are more rugged to vibrations...

Can’t see a bike suffering more vibration than a car. I had night breakers in my 4x4 off-roader a few years ago and that got absolutely rallied with no headlight issues

done a search and can’t see anything conclusive

‘04 first gen fzs1000

What should I do to make them a bit better ? Osram night breakers ? Looks like 2x h4 bulbs

I had this on mine. On the face book group loads of people did. I left it alone but lads on there sorted it by wrapping the hot side in insulation tape which apparently works

just found this, pretty epic  :D  this is the first video. Many videos of a complete strip and rebuild of the engine and box. Setting up the cams all sorts. Other vids on Ivan’s jet kit on his account. This is about as thorough as it gets  :eek

I cut mine down, bikes done 44k tho and I only paid £1500 for it, although it is pretty immaculate. It will get ridden  into the ground but well serviced, but it’s not likely to be a show queen

Jeez, your mate wouldn’t come round and do mine would he, I tried it and failed miserably even with cobalt bits.

Only took him an hour, he drilled it with a small one first then the right one before taping it with a shallow tap, then a bigger tap. Plenty of lube during the process. He’s a fabricator/welder tho and has access to a full engineering setup. I owe him one now lol, although I did dj at his daughters bday a couple of years back so maybe we’re quits lol. He’s a top lad anyhow and my main riding buddy  :)

« on: 06 January 2019, 07:21:03 pm »
so in my haste to give my new ‘04 thou a thorough going over I stripped the exup for a clean and regrease. Rear bolt snapped, this was well before Xmas   :rolleyes  So I left it alone as didn’t have any taps or easy outs etc, and it just sat there stripped in garage for a month :o  Anyway, Mate came over today and drilled it and retapped the thread for me :) so I’m a happy man. Just put it back together after giving the shaft a clean up with some emery, then a smear of copper grease on the moving parts and the new bolts I got. It is slightly out of adjustment with the ignition on, but functions fine and it goes like a bastard anyway as I just found out. I’ll have a go at adjusting the cables and center the fork thing over the hole after work one evening this Week.

Then it’s an oil change and pray for some dry days that ain’t so cold so I can use it a bit. It’s bogging a bit at low revs but it’s stood for a year prior to me buying it off its old owner. I’m thinking a couple of tanks of super through it and some serious rape should clear them carbs out

Here's mine with my missus' blue 600 Foxeye.

Lovely pair

Wish my mrs was into bikes. She loves coming out on pillion, but she’s shit at driving a car and can barely ride a bike lol
