For Sale & Wanted / FOR SALE: 2003, FZS600, 16k - £2100 (SOLD)
« on: 27 May 2021, 11:43:51 am »
For sale is my Yamaha FZS 600 Fazer, first registered on the 1st January 2003 -

The bike is in excellent condition, is very reliable with a "bullet proof" smooth well proven engine  and having carburettors has lovely smooth fuelling with non of the jerkiness some modern fuel injection bike have. It has 94bhp and can be ridden in a docile manner but if you rev it above 6k then hang on because it can really go.

  • MOT expiry date 5/3/2022.
  • Tyres are Bridgestone BT023 and were new last year.
  • Chain and both sprockets were renewed with quality DID gold chain and JT sprockets.
  • The front sprocket nut was also replaced with the newer updated and thicker Yamaha nut.
  • The bike has the benefit of Oxford Heated grips, a digital gear indicator and a recently purchased and installed Givi V47 top box and rack which alone
  • cost £234.
  • Yuasa battery is relatively new
  • the brake pads front and rear.
  • The front fork oil was changed last year.
  • New oil filter and semi synth oil change today 04/06/2021.
Being the "Foxeye" model, it has the uprated headlights with twin dipped and twin main beam. It also has the larger 22 liter fuel tank which no matter how hard you ride it, you always get 220+ miles to the tank. In some respects, these bikes are better than some of the more modern bikes on the market today. I took the bike on a road trip to Spain a couple of years ago and it was great, selling the bike as I have just bought a new Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX.

Currently have a deposit taken, so if it dosent sell then please enquire etc.

Selling an MRA Vario Screen as fitted to my 2002 FZS600. This is the light smoke grey version and was bought new about a year ago. In good condition but has a couple of tiniest of stone chips which to be honest you can only see in certain light, and when I say tiny, I really mean tiny!

The bog standard looks way better to my eyes but each to their own!

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Need tyres - Recommended ones from you guys?
« on: 15 August 2020, 08:10:29 am »
A very cost effective tyre that had a good tread life, multi compound on the rear is the Bridgestone Battlax 023. This is a sport touring tyre and I have had a set of these on my FZS600 for the last 7k miles and there is still a bit of life left in them.

A trip to the Picos, a few trips to Scotland with lots of "spirited" rides and they have been good. They have never given me cause for doubt about grip levels and although they are an old design, they are still a good tyre. I think I paid about £170 for a pair fitted to loose wheels.
Of course, there are always the latest models to choose from but they cost a lot more. Remember, the tyres of today that are lauded as being superb, don't become rubbish in a few years because some new design of tyre is launched. Click on the tiny print below for a video.

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Engine Noise
« on: 14 June 2020, 03:57:07 pm »
Try the long screwdriver or rod trick. One end to your ear and place the other end at various points on the engine. You will soon find out where it's coming from.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Tips for a FZ1S 2006 GEN 2
« on: 12 May 2020, 07:55:45 pm »
I did all those mods on my 2008 and buggered around with lots of custom maps then decided stock with just a Fuel titanium can was the most pleasant to ride. Got sick of the increased induction noise from the airbox mod so stuck the cut plastic back in.

It's plenty fast enough as standard. The only other mod was a Nitron rear shock which I then sold when I sold the bike. Also put Renthal bars on.

« on: 13 April 2020, 06:31:37 pm »
I did this mod when I had a Gen 2 Fazer 1000. I just used a long sharpened tapered punch. No drilling and the associated swarf etc. Easy peasy !

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Oil issue
« on: 05 February 2020, 12:56:00 pm »
I had the exact same problem on my 2002 FZS600 which had been stored for 9 years. Got it back on the road (new battery and tyres and oil and filter) and the red oil light would come on intermittently.
Went through the thought process of getting another sensor but in the end, gave it a good thrashing then changed the oil again and the light never came on again whilst riding.
Put it down to a sticky sensor float due to being not used as has been suggested.

Would this work and be compatible with a 2002 FZS 600 ?

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Clock Lights Dim
« on: 12 November 2019, 10:22:18 pm »
Screen off, remove multi wired plug, remove fairing infills, undo 3 nuts off studs, remove clock set, remove phillips screws and separate clock housing.

Change bulbs to LEDs and plug instrument clocks back in, ignition on to check LEDs illuminate. If not reverse bulb holder to change polarity. If all is well screw it all back together.

Job done.

"currently when hitting the starter on the bike it causes the dash to do a reboot"

I currently use a Samsung Galaxy A8 as a satnav powered from a USB port charger connected to the battery and strangely, the phone will do the same reboot when I press the starter button. If I connect the usb cable after the bike starts, then no problem.

Annoying !

Thanks for that. It started well, filmed in the daylight but at 2.45 it went a bit pear shaped as it is then filmed by torchlight and not very well. I'm not convinced the guy has connected to the correct wire for the crankshaft position sensor as in some written instruction I managed to find from Healtech say the connection is made to the grey wire in a two pole connector which is located behind the seat locking mechanism.

I bought mine from Aliexpress for 38 dollars and although not as advanced as the Healtech, which does cost a lot more, it works OK.

As per title. FZS 600 2002 Foxeye.

Does anyone know where the 2 pole connector is located so I can wire in green wire from the indicator and what are the colours of the wires in the connector?

A picture would be nice. I've looked for videos etc on you tube but cannot seem to find where it is situated.

Cheers.

Third picture down, engine cover with black goo sticking out of the joint. Has this been off for some reason and a new gasket not been used ?

"PFFT"

Educate me!

22
OK, thanks for taking the time to respond. :)

23
Yes, I am interested and am grateful for your offer but think your price is on the high side.Without wishing to sounding like a time waster, I can get the whole shebang for £95 brand new including free postage and was hoping to get a used one for approx half price ?

What part of the country are you in ?

24
Any bolts ?

25
Great, the protectors under the handle are no big deal, I could make some of them.

Thanks.
