Thanks to everyone who replied to my post, turns out it was the plug caps, changed to NGK SD05F and everything is again perfect, I have to say that this part of the forum (fzs600) is full of wise knowledgable bikers who offer simple straight advise and usually the first few posters are bang on the money, you are all a credit to bikers... no matter who you are... bikers help bikers, and in my book thats a real brotherhood.

It will be a real shame to sell my bike due to a lawyers fees, however everything happens for a reason and i have enjoyed being part of this with you guys.

What does it run like under 3000rpm, or at low speeds?
Do a quick TPS check and see if it's in the correct position, they gradually break down and a misfire at any speed is one symptom, but the main symptom would be rough or jerky running at low speeds where you'd need to use more clutch and throttle to compensate. It's something that will take a minute to check, and needs to be ruled out.

Also, when was the last time you changed/cleaned your air filter? A badly clogged paper air filter for example will eventually affect running. K&N filters tend to be a lot more forgiving as they let more air through but they can still get dirty as well.

It runs ok below 3k, idles fine.
New air filter 500 miles ago

Thanks for the advise from everyone i will do the TPS and fingers crossed it is this.

Thanks for the replies, i would say it is definitely an electrical issue.

I didn't add fuel stabiliser ... but at the time i last started and noticed the misfire the fuel was 2 weeks old, but i agree old fuel will not help the matter.

I need to go back to the garage and inspect the leads, caps etc, I have ruled out the plugs due to the fact they are only 1000 miles old, however i will still pull them and inspect.

ok so i guess it a case of starting at the plugs and working backwards, so i'm guessing the suppressor caps are screw on ones?? so is it just a case of chopping a bit off and winding them back on?
I'm hoping that i dont need new caps as money is tight right now.

Regarding the TPS it has those tamperproof screws on them is there away around this??

FZS600 Fazer / misfire @ 5k - 8k rpm
« on: 11 April 2021, 09:41:34 am »
The last time i rode my bike back in late september it ran sweet no problems, in mid october i decided to clean the bike it fired up ok but when i rode it a little bit i noticed there was a misfire around 5k - 8k.. i put this down to the fact i had not disconnected the battery and i needed charging that why it was misfiring.

The battery has been on the optimate for well over a month now, went back the garage yesterday hooked up the battery and tried to start it didnt start straight away, i left it 5 mins and it fired up and was ticking over without any problems once i had warmed it up i again had a little ride and the same thing is still there, bike has done 33k.

I changed the plugs back in the UK when i bought the bike to ngk iridium they have done maximum 1000 miles,
I need to get this fixed as a divorce bill means sadly my bike has to go, anyone any ideas.

Thanks in advance

Regarding wemoto seals.

I personally found splitting the caliper an easy job, and it gave me a much better view of what the actual problem was (oxidization where the piston & dust seals sit) i popped out both pistons and used a wire brush wheel on the end of a drill to clean out the shit in the recess where the seals go, red rubber grease all seals and pistons push them back in and reassemble caliper job done.

As far as i can remember if your going to split the caliper the wheel has to come off the get to the caliper mounting bracket bolts off.
But you can fit a new hose without taking anything off.

Remember to bleed the inner bleed nipple 1st then the outer 2nd

Yes they split in 2.
As above just get a braided line it will be cheaper.

The seals were completely focced in mine and lots of oxidization and slightly pitted pistons.
Best bet is to spray with penetrating oil then whip it to anywhere with an air compressor and blow them out.

Or spend £26 on genuine yamaha ones.

The ebay ones fitted perfect for me
New seals and lube up those pistons and seals.

Job done / job satifaction

If i were in your shoes i'd offer a lowball figure to your mate say £775 of course at 1st he might be a little miffed but sooner or later he will ponder the offer and may say £800 to which your still spending 1k once you get it all tidied up and the major points sorted.
If he doesnt move on price then jog on to the next one.... private sales are better for haggling.

Stealerships buy em cheap as a trade in say £5/600 give em a wash and a quick once over, a ride round the block and offer a token warranty but the price is now £15/1600

Go see as many as you can theres plenty around its a buyers market

The wires poke up some tubes and are connected right at the back near the tail light, just do what vinnyb said and take off the tailsection its 4 hex bolts if memory serves.

I have some genuine rear ones (and they are genuine rears) which i took off when fitting some bobby dazzler led ones.

I can send you pics of course, i live in lithuania postage shouldnt be that much

@ darrsi , it was just to see if anyone had done it to their 600 really and was it worth it... they do work, maybe not a lot of fazer owners know of this or care to know about it... i would give it a try but not for €179.

Has anyone on here fitted a Nikko G Pack / Timing Retard Eliminator to their FZS600?
I had a TRE fitted to a gsxr600 and it really worked.

Would like to known if anyone has tried this mod, they are available but quite a lot of cash for what is essentially a resistor in a box with some plugs on it.

Its been a while since i was last here, bikes been laid up since oct 1st and cannot come out to play till mar 1st
(winter tyre rules) anyway whilst generally looking and dreaming of spring/summer 2020 i've decided that i would like to update my original clocks and slim down the cockpit for a cleaner look.

My thoughts at this point are: find some yamaha lcd clocks (rpm 12k) and see if they can somehow be fashioned into the existing clock loom,

Or

Buy a set of koso copies / other lcd speedos off the bay around £40.

Is it possible to wire up the fuel guage from analogue to digital?
How do i wire up the speedo sensor (both options)

Can anyone help me in regards to this who has already done this??
What colour wires from yamaha original loom to new speedo, pics would be ideal.

Cheers foccers

I bought some flat drag bars along with some new braided lines which were the same length as the std lines and they fitted ok but my arms ached on a decent ride,i've now ditched the drag bars and gone back to the std bars, which again are no problem with the brake/clutch lines
I'm looking to buy some renthal mx style bars i think this will be for me will be a happy medium.hope this helps

Any decent key cutter should have no problem cutting a new one from your snapped key.
Your probably right, but trying to explain in a foreign language isnt easy, but i'll give it a shot.Just as a reference whats the going rate in the UK for a new cut key?

You get two keys when you buy the bike from new. Do you not have the 2nd spare...
I'm the 3rd owner and its 18 years old, probably in the back of someones wardrobe/garage or broken  :lol

Been out for a real blast today on some fantastic sweeping fast roads was awesome getting the engine singing upto to 140mph
(clocks not lying honest)  :lol

Sadly I put my key in the side bit to unlock the seat to get my glasses out out and forgot about it, ok me thinks i'll put it on the main stand and wang on some wd40 chain wax whilst it's warm i thought.
Being a bit challenged in the strength department due to my rhumatoid arthritis in my hands it's always a struggle to get it on the main stand without fear of dropping it, as i was pulling back for the 3rd time heard the keys fall on the floor...... aaahhh shyte thats buggered it now.

I managed to get the bit out but now have a key in 2 bits, I dont know how im gonna fix that,  other than trying superglue and hope miserable mick  in the key shop isnt in a rager that day when i try ask him if its possible to make a new one from a superglued old one. :wall
moral of the story is
ALWAYS TAKE OUT YOUR KEY BEFORE PUTTING IT ON THE MAINSTAND

Howdy all you filthy foccers, I was wondering what your opinions on Raximo short levers are, I'm looking to swap mine out but am wary of the cheaper Chinese ones on fleabag, these are what I'm looking at?

https://mtp-racing24.com/Brake-and-Clutch-Levers-shorty-TUeV-approved_61
£88  :eek

I hate to tell you this but the "pazzo" knock off levers i bought are excellent quality and fitted like a glove and were only £15.69 and look exactly like your Raximo ones (albeit with 3 holes drilled in them) but only yours are £72 more expensive  :oops

You can do it on the bike if your not changing the seals or oil.

I was changing both so it was easier off the bike, there's a video on youtube with a fellow foccer spraying his black on the bike did a good job.

I think silver and blue definately looks good

Yep just a rattle can job, someone had previously had a go at polishing (just the fronts  :\ ) and they looked tired, was putting new 15w oil and seals in as well, i wasnt sure at first that the silver/gold forks would go down well at 1st even i was unsure but ti seems that foccers like them.
