I always swore by ACF-50 but that XCP seems brilliant! I was going to do my bike for the winter with some ACF but will definately try a can of XCP.

Uncanny Coffee.
I was looking at that specific video myself last night.
XCP did protect his metal test plates really well but, apparently, it's a lot stickier, and gives a dull, matt finish to everything.
I ended up re-stocking with ACF50 and vowed to clean thoroughly and reapply every 2 - 3 months.
ACF50 looked to be absolutely fine for that sort of interval.
Take a deep breath, coz it all starts now, when you pull the foccin' pin

ACF I believe has a shelf life too. I got 2 tins on offer some 10 years ago and still have some left. It looks and smells the same but not sure if it’s as effective now! 😂

That's interesting I only use a tiny bit each year so it will last me many years. But if that were so there would be a date on the tin somewhere, haven't got my tin to hand right now to look.

Hmmmm, don't know now but seeing as I've got AC50 I'll probably use it.

I use acf 50 but maybe a bit more often than I should.
I wash the bike every week and reapply from a sprayer. 67000 miles in and she still looks like new after a wash.

I remember a few years back getting that pump thing and the 5ltr bottle of acf50 what a waste of time! a fair bit cheaper but you can't get the finesse like with the aerosol and you end up wasting some it was handy for brushing into some parts of the bike though .

Agreed. The little trigger bottle they give you is foccing useless, as it comes out in a stream rather than a mist. I use a cheap spray gun (£10) with my small compressor set to 5psi, warm the fluid up first in a bucket of hot water, then it comes out as a fine mist and I can get it everywhere on the bike. After covering up the brakes and tyres of course

Hi Agricola. Totally agree with you about that useless trigger bottle that is supplied with acf50, I have tried different types/makes of atomiser bottles, all useless.

I am interested to know, if you don’t mind me picking your brain. What type of spray gun do you use?
Would it be like a small paint spray gun?  I have seen on e bay a HVLP mini spray gun 0.8mm.  For £10.50. Is that the type of thing you use? Or could you point me in the right direction please if not.

Cheers mate.   :D

I found a good video on YouTube where a guy uses a 'Flairosol Mist Spray' bottle, which you can buy separately.
I think it's a bespoke hairdresser's hairspray bottle, and it looks like it works really well - here's the video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Sd45cWQatw

....and here's a link to the bottle on eBay:

I'll let you all know how it performs when I get a chance to give it a go.

Its this one. Cheap enough, I picked up at at my one the Stafford bike shows kmaybe 5 or 6 years ago now. I use it only for ACF50 application, then flush out with white spirit. Makes a fine mist so you can get it everywhere you want on the bike

Hi Agricola.  Yeah that’s the type I was looking at getting. A local paint shop has them on e bay for £10.50. So going to get one and use it solely for acf50.  Thank you very much for your input, much appreciated.

Cheers mate.   :D
