Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Hard luggage for 2002 Gen1
« on: 30 May 2017, 09:53:17 am »
Im planning for a big two up trip next summer (Ireland) and as a result I need some luggage capacity. I tried soft panniers previously but they are too much effort getting on and off the bike and my wife cant get her feet on the pegs :(

I looked at some Givi systems but they say suitable for 03-05 bikes, mines a 2002.

What have people used? is there a "best buy" set up that will do the trick?  Im thinking top box and side cases.

thanks for any help

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Coolant leak
« on: 27 April 2015, 09:15:33 pm »
Having replaced the chain and sprockets at the weekend I made a school boy error and omitted the cable tie that keeps the hoses out of the chain... Doh..  So now I need to replace the hose that goes into the back of the engine.

Does anyone know the part number? (2002)

Also, can I just top up the coolant through the top of the radiator? Will it flow into the expansion tank to get the level?

Any other good ideas accepted.

I had that same meta alarm on my previous bike and it went flat (internal battery) on its 10th birthday. I used a pinout diagram to wire it out and removed the unit. I wish I had done it earlier, no more flat batteries ever! Don't replace the alarm, it's not worth it.

I just bought a Gen1 last week. I wanted a standard bike. Yours has great mods but they are your thing,  new owners won't appreciate them or expect to pay for them. Sell the bits separately. IMHO.

It looks like it's an earth issue having read the very helpful link provided. The relay solution looks sensible particularly if it improves the fuel gauge. If the battery is on its last legs it will create the same problem. Thanks for all the help and suggestions.  :)

Thanks for the suggestion - it would make sense if it is related to volt drop. Its similar to what happens when you first switch the ignition on.

I will explain what's happening....

I start the bike with the headlight on (low), then I switch the lights (left handlebar) to main beam, the low fuel, engine temp and oil level lights all come on for a second or two. If I go back to low they immediately extinguish, if I then go back to main again  they don't reappear. Its a one off (but repeated regularly)

If I leave the light on low for a few minutes and then flick to main they may(sometimes) light up again

I'm not sure what this indicates? has anyone else seen this happen?

Introduction / Hello from Warrington

I expect mine is a tale that you hear again and again on this forum.... A fifty year old who has finally given up on sports bikes and bought himself a Fazer. In my case Gen1 FZS1000. I've only had the bike since yesterday and I must say I'm very impressed. Its so much easier to ride than my old R6. I reckon I'm actually faster (from a low base!) and certainly much smoother.

This forum seems to have a huge amount of information and very helpful members (I hope!)
