fuel system sorted.
« on: 06 September 2019, 07:36:44 pm »
So Joy has been having some problems with the fazer 6.
It kept stalling at lights or low revs. The rev would also hang for a second or to.
And when she got it going afterwards there was black smoke out of the exhaust.
So 2 weeks ago i bought a secondhand fuel system to swap over.
This afternoon i had time to take it all apart and see what was wrong.
As soon as i removed the fuel system i could see the problem.
Injector 2,3 & 4 were leaking as they were wet and Number 1 was bone dry.
The bike was in a very poor way when we going it and standing for some years.
I also pulled the plugs and they were black but not with soot. So i bought new plugs.
So i got the plugs and fuel system fitted and the bike started first time which was a good thing.
I got it up to temp and revved up the engine. there was no hanging of revs and it idle around 1200rpm.
So i just need to put the rest of it back together in the morning and take it for a test ride.
Will let you know if i have to call the AA or not lmao.

So i took the Fazer for a 25 miles run. A & B roads and a Duel.
The wife said the problem happend when she has been keeping a steady speed.
So i found local roads where i could keep the revs steady. 2k, 4k and 6k and a blast upto 8k for a miles.
The bike ran spot on, not a single hic-cup. Even pulling the clutch in from 6k the revs did not hang and they went down to 1200 as they should.
Rolling off the throttle and using engine braking the bike was fine. Pulling from 2k in 6th no problem.
stopping fast from speed, all ok.
So at the moment the bike is running good. Lets now see if the wife can break it again lol.
I will take it for another ride myself in a couple of week time to see if it still rides the same.
One thing i would like to ask. Is the throttle of these fazer 6 heavy as normal. It's not the cables or twist grip sticking. I've not been on anothe fazer 6 so i don't know if it's normal or not. it feels like the return spring on the side of the throttle bodys is to strong. My 2 zx9r have carbs, and the throttle is very light on them both.

No, I dont think its particularly heavy. Check the cables are routed correctly.

Good work with the bike
