Tony, from Leicester. Not owned a bike for 30 years, and that was a Honda CG125, was going to up to a 250 or 400 Superdream at the time, but had a company vehicle, so wasn't getting the use, so sold it instead.
Now, having just turned 50, have a couple of mates who recently bought bikes, I thought, go for it, so got me a FZ6s to play on! The comments are mainly "Going back to your youth Tony", but I reply, it's more of a mid life crisis.
Anyway, still getting used to the bike, been on a few long burn outs with the 2 biker mates, dropped it once, but getting there!

You won't regret it...I started on a CB125 in the late 70s got back into it on a 600 Hornet 9 years ago and about 3 years ago got my thou......happy days!

I'm only in my early 40's and having my crisis so don't worry about it :)
FZ6s this year, hoping for a CBR 600F next year is if all goes to plan, will probably keep the FZ6s as well though, the missus will be well chuffed :)

All your doing is enjoying something that was a great time in your life a few years ago, only now you don't need it for work or college it's just for fun,

Sold my Norton about 1972, waited until 2004 before buying a barn find BSA C12 to tinker with, mainly to have a hobby that would annoy my better half. Decided that I'd rather be be on the road than in the shed so went on to a GPZ500, ZZR600, GS500 (to run back and fore to work), then onto a XJR1300 before, at 65 getting a bit more sensible and getting a Fazer 600 S2. Enjoying my biking again more than ever, especially Sunday morning blasts. You have to grow old but you dont have to grow up

Exactly! :lol From the age of 14 to now(64) the most enduring thing in my life has been the love of two wheels(preferably with an engine!) It has lasted longer than my looks/hair/body shape&condition :'( , 2 wives, (other women :b , kids growing up). I have ridden mopeds,scooters,British bikes (old),Japanese esp Yamaha & Honda. If I had a mid-life crisis it probably started in my late 30s/early 40s. A lot of my contemporaries have hung up their helmets so I go out with a few younger riders now & again. Mate age 50 has just done his Module 1 & has Mod 2 next week after not riding since his 20s. The only other thing that has lasted is my love of music. I still like the ladies but understand the workings of a 20 valve DOHC in line 4 cylinder engine better than what goes on in the female brain!( what a sexist,politically incorrect statement-put it down to pre-senile dementia! :lol

Welcome mate. I now ride a little 600 Fzs but recently sold my last Suzuki Bandit 1200. She was too heavy in comparison with the FZS and unfortunately broke my leg under it! Love the weight of the Fazer!

I'm 59 i restarted around 53 . I wanted to put the urge to bed before I got to 60, I'm enjoying it more this time around "3rd"
Had 3 Fazers now !

Hi Tony - welcome. I'm 65 and got my FZ6 10 weeks ago after a break of 20 years due to lack of funds. Lovely bikes. I'v already dropped mine once too doing a low speed u turn in a dead end road. Hardly any damage though. First two tank fulls I got 40 mpg but on the 3rd. today it's up to 71 mpg now I'm getting used to it.

Hi and welcome, been riding since i was 17 and ridden everything under the sun, on my 3rd gen 1 fazer 1000 , all the bike you,ll ever need, to me theres no such thing as a mid life crisis, thats just a term from people who wish they were doing what you were doing :D :D enjoy, theres nothing better than two wheels on a nice sunny day :)

I'm wondering if there's a gap in my garage for a Fazer 1000,,,
That way I can use my 600 for work and the 1000 for play!! :D

Thanks for the replies everybody! Getting used to the bike now, fitted an alarm and heated grips so I can still joy ride when it's a bit nippy! Wife hasn't come round to it yet tho, still getting grief, but they don't like to see us enjoying ourselves do they?

After my 20 or more years away from biking ,it took me over twelve months to begin to really relax on the bike, My first reborn bike was an xj 900 which despite enjoying tinkering with , was terrible to ride, I sold it on thinking that was that . but after only a month the itch started again, Another mistake with a cbr 600f "To fast for my still rusty state" next bike was a 98 fazer , Its all been said great bike rapidly becoming a classic,
Now I need fazer therapy at least once a week!

After 10 months, still getting used to this bike, but now feel the need to push it further! Fastest I've been is 114 mph, and just want to ride further afield now. A mate of mine came off his FZ1 at low speed 2 months ago, £1600 to fix, which set my confidence back a bit, and his a lot!

There is no such thing as a mid life crises, my old manager told me it was when you stopped w+++king for a week. Anyway biking is biking no matter how long or little time you have ridden or the gaps between. Just ride and enjoy. :)

Your story very similar to mine I am 57 in February Had 125s back in the seventy's then 4 years ago brought a Yam YBR125 which was great fun then Last week I brought a 600 Fazer and love it. Also I tend to play a lot of Call of Duty Black ops now is this a mid life crisis or just childish lol good luck with your Bike mate.

Just short of 60 and married for 40 years started riding around 5 years ago when I lost my job as a hgv driver it seemed like a good way to get some peace and quiet and the groan of the engine sounds Oh so much better

Mid life Crisis or not , I rode dirt bikes, well anything that rode down the woods back then . Then onto 50cc, 125 at 16 and 17 , i was then given free car lessons from my uncle (driving instructor) passed then cars all the way . But i always had the itch to get back onto two wheels , money, kids and life got in the way until 4 years ago(age 35) when i just said fuck it and done my test . Must admit took a while to get used to riding again , esp motorways . Used to be so tense , but few months passed and chilled out when riding . Now loving riding whether its just commuting , ride outs , even down the shops .
