Tried Roadsmarts but had problems with losing pressure despite changing valves, perhaps I just had a bad pair......but replaced them with Pirelli angel GTs no problems with good grip and neutral 'drop in' on turning and plenty grip also good 2 up in my experience if that helps...

Sideways so it acts as a lever to rotate it, that's the way I've had to do it!

« on: 16 February 2017, 11:57:17 am »
As a budget conscious (tight!) rider I found that a hagon Shock and front springs made a real difference to my gen1.  Much more compliant without sogginess and lm not the lightest of riders at 16 stone.....Christmas has a lot to answer for!........also improved the ride 2 up with luggage too.  I think you don't have to spend a fortune to improve suspension performance as a modest upgrade allied to properly setting up the suspension seems to deliver a really noticeable difference, well that's been my experience if that helps.

I look at it this way, if we weren't in the eu and the referendum was for joining it as it stands with what it's done to Greece, Cyprus, the HQ in Brussels moving to Strasbourg once a month for no valid reasons and giving the
EU lawmakers primacy over our own parliament would you vote to join it?  If you wouldn't vote to join it then why would you vote to stay in it?🤔

Went to mugello a few years ago (VR on  2 stroke honda then!!)  Brilliant circuit fast with close racing and Italy obviously has good vino and pasta.  Andrea Iannone rode his heart out duelling with MM in Le Mans with a duff shoulder - he may be even better  when he's riding at home and an improved shoulder - Looks like you'll have a great time - I'm envious!!

had a triumph gt1050 comfortable fast good value and frugal and you can pick early ones up for good value with panniers etc.  Lighter than the buses that pass for Tourers with good handling ....If I was going to do lots of 2 up touring again I'd have another.......

+1 on taking it back to the seller as the contract is between you & them not the manufacturer....Look up the sale of goods act (as amended ) where it defines what is 'merchantable quality' and 'fit for purpose' then you can talk from a position of knowledge and not be fobbed off....

Thanks for all the responses guys - appreciate it.

This is for PEASY.  I've measured the pannier DEPTH from the passenger grab rail downwards and I need 11" clearance from the top of the can for it to fit ok- do you have that clearance between top of the can to the passenger grab rail point?  if so it's game on!  Thanks.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Fuel exhaust can fitment
« on: 30 April 2015, 05:59:56 pm »
Hope there is someone out there who has fitted a fuel exhaust can either oval or round.  I'd like to fit one but need to know if they interfere with any panniers that are fitted.  The panniers I have fit ok with the standard exhaust can but Fuel couldn't tell me whether their can is higher/angled differently than the standard can.  They also said that they would only accept a return of goods if it hadn't been fitted so i can't get one & return it if it fouls the pannier. Not  particularly helpful.........

Anyone got one of these cans fitted to a gen1 fzs1000 with a pannier set?

Outliving some of the @£&!% you really didn't like!!  Then retiring and riding whenever you like or the weather lets you!
Going around to the daughters house turning the heating way up, leaving all her doors open and lights on all over the house....petty I know - but petty revenge is so much fun......

« on: 25 April 2015, 07:46:37 pm »
Just had my 2002 fazer Ivanised (slip on stage1 - not 'full monty') and a 4 deg ignition advancer in with K&N filter previously installed.  Hav to say the difference is really marked I can put it into 6th gear at 2000 rpm & accelerate away - and it feels smoother and more 'muscular' and sharper everywhere in the rev range - wish I'd had it done before.  Perhaps an aftermarket can next (cash permitting!) to liberate a bit more hp ......

Excellent installation job by Mike too - thanks and have a good trip home!

Hmm..... best part of 150 pounds for a couple of cables because they have yamaha on them and a pattern part for 10 pounds so 15 sets of pattern parts (just cables after all) for the same money  I think bik3rdude has a point....
