For Sale & Wanted / Fazer 1000 for sale
« on: 13 August 2016, 12:16:48 am »
Nice bike, but It's way over priced taking into account the below history .

Had an unfortunate accident in the garage...due to an old injury my right leg decided it was a good time to let go. The bike went over and smashed into the side of the garage wall. The fairing has been marked and has a gauge in it, mirror is buggered, screen smashed, grab handle is totally goosed and the previously mint tank isn't as mint as it was. Can anyone recommend a really good motorbike painter who could do a top job on the fairing and tank. I live in the Northwest, Stockport area but don't mind travelling a bit if its worth it. Any help greatfully received. Now I am gonna go down the pub and drown my sorrows, thanks David.

Nice looking bike.

Cheers.

I still have a soft spot for my gen 1 and wish I had not sold it mainly because I made it so special, but the latest crop of bikes are in a  different league when it comes to performance.

I could never understand the reluctance of buying a Cat C or D if it has been repaired properly :rolleyes

Maybe the PRICE was more to your liking ! however some owners think there still worth top dollar, there dreaming, start at 40% less for cat D, be careful with cat C some insurance co will not touch these. Cat D are insurance friendly but I'm very weary of any bike that Is registered as cat, one man makes the decision by a visual inspection and sometimes the damage details are past from the savage co to insurance bod and they tick either cat d or c but the reality is damage passes to frame and cannot be seen, bikes don't ride straight, you come to a bend and it tries to kill you rather than track perfectly.

Nah be careful if you buy any cat bike and only buy one that you can see before and after pictures to see that the damage is exactly as described because sellers are liars and always talk cat bikes down, dealers dont retail em because there not finance able and the history can be questionable.

For Sale & Wanted / Re: 2004 Fazer 1000. still for sale
« on: 02 May 2016, 07:10:43 am »

I'm that we clearly disagree. 2600 - 2700 would be about right on a 2004 with these mods. So 600 off that as cat c I fell is about right. Hence 2250 aiming for 2k.

Cat D are valued 40% less, not sure with cat C tho maybe the same but I do no some insurance co will not touch Cat C bikes whatsoever and even tho they don't ask you it's past when you insure failure to disclose means legally if things go tits up your insure is void and that's there get out of jail card, failure to disclose.

My Velocette, just moved a few feet so you can't see the oil leak.

Nice, I have one to, belonged to my father, it never ran after being restored some 10 years ago but I've since got it going.

I no it's frustrating but hold fire with complaining turn the negative into a positive ! your wife is in the best place she's getting better slowly, think how the opposite would have effected you and your family and remember everyone deserves the same treatment regardless if there needs are less, so I would not be complaining myself they do a brilliant job even if understaffed, it ain't a race !

3 bods on another forum have just received a fine each thro the post from Austria for 12km over the limit .

Seems tear arsing around Europe is looking risky now, the amount of times I've been flashed and just ignored it may be a thing of the past, I will deffo think about it for future trips.

General / STROKE.........advice and help needed
« on: 01 January 2016, 04:53:05 pm »
Your are correct no one can understand the effect of a stroke until you have seen one, my mother never came to the specialist meets shes partially deaf and old and not well herself so to come was probably asking to much, but that meant it was harder for her to understand my fathers needs and his rash remarks.

Questions: I probably asked hundreds but the one I'll not forget is will my father have another stroke ! Stroke victims are more vulnerable regarding having another stroke over say me or you so the medication is very important to them, I was told not to overdue asking my father questions because they are quick to snap and cause stress,  the pysio was very good and my father had 12 months but there's only so much they can do and age plays a massive part on recovery, your wife sounds young'ish so hopefully will make recovery but it ain't a race so will take time. We also brought my father a tens machine (it feels like getting a small electric shock) he puts his feet on it and it exercises his feet and puts feelings in his leg.

Don't worry about questions to ask they will give you all the info plus more and tell you what to expect .

Good luck .

I feel for you fella, I'll never forgot 23rd March 2012 as i pulled onto my parents drive I noticed all the lights on, the front door wide open, wtf is going on ! I enter to find my mother crying and in bits as my father has just had a stroke, it happened 5 mins after he parked his van outside, walked in and answered the telephone and suddenly crashed to the floor, by the time I had got there the ambulance had already rushed him to hospital, we rushed straight to the hospital and seeing him in intensive care was so upsetting it was like something had stolen his sole, they gave him 24hrs it was touch n go as my father had a serious stroke, he managed to pull through the night and spent the nxt 13wks in hospital I was at his bedside every day after work until they kicked me out in eve, it was very hard for me because my father had a business so I had to sort all that out and sell it as well as some property and still go to work myself, look after my mother and visit my father everyday and whilst I sat talking to him every eve it allowed me to read up on strokes and was very interesting and allowed me to understand, but all this came at a price after so long i ended up having a breakdown myself I was so drained. The stroke effected his left side of his body so it's the oppo side of the brain and my father was left handed so it caused complications with writing and banking so I have power of attorney and sort everything out. Eventually when he came home his speech was mumbled but 3 years later he talks fine, he cannot walk without aid and has a electric wheelchair, he is able to go toilet himself and that's important to him, he talks non stop now where as before you only got one line conversation. When he first came home I found my mum crying and she said it was all too much for her and she cannot cope and said he might have to go in a home, she had home help but she felt as tho they were invading and pushy, so we got shut of them and I now live around the corner and go there twice a day (morn & eve) everyday, go shopping, pay bills, do jobs and so now I live a double life, even when we have holidays I have to think whom will look in ! So my wifes family help with keeping an eye on them it's hard work but these are my parents and they wiped my shitty arse so I'm now repaying the favour. My father now says some awful things, swears calls me a cnunt (the effect of the stroke) but we have lots of great banter and talk shitte he looks forward to my vists everyday and talks non stop but I do miss not being able to ask him life questions and feel as tho ive lost my Dad and gained a Best mate but I'm thankful he is still around.

It's strange how I used to think they will live forever but that's not true, @70 still worked 6-days a week and was really fit being X-forces pt instructor and still muscular but that made no difference to the stroke.

So Maddog my deepest sympathies go out to you and your family, i no what your going through it will be a rough ride at times but there's light at the end of the tunnel even tho it seems like a long tunnel you will get there.

You said two bikes are going what's the other one?,

Sorry fellas did not see the reply's, yeah South of Derby 5 mins from Donington park, the other bike is a 2002 NON V-Tec vfr (rather rare being  last built) and it has a genuine 5k on the clock with fsh.

Still has all the original factory stickers intact and I have a LSL bar conversion for it as well (no mods required)

£2750 for the vfr but one bike at a time, I might keep the vfr yet.

Some better pictures of the sv also the bike is immaculate, a lot of bike for peanuts.

£1700 come and ride it away.

This is a BARGAIN they fetch more on ebay, however I cannot be bothered with evil bay at the mo and I'm accumulating more bikes then I have room and I need to make room for a new toy so 2 bikes have to go.

General / Where can i learn to brake in corners...
« on: 01 November 2015, 07:37:25 pm »
Ron Haslem  race school , they will teach you squaring off a corner, which involves standing the bike up , aim for the longest bit of road , braking hard , then turning tightly .

I've seen this in practise, I go away with one of there instructors and he's a very good rider and can ride the wheels off his bike, whilst we was in spain he misread a bend, apparently had man flu on this particular day, that's what he blames it on, I was in front and the guy behind him got it all on cam, the come-back was very impressive and I'm sure anyone with lesser experience would have binned it. However he never lived it down for the whole holiday.

Dealers are such lying bastards......after nearly agreeing a deal on the new 2016 Z1000sx....I have now been told the trade in price of £3,635 was against a pre-registered 2015 model not for the new 2016 model.......so back to selling my FZS1000 privately now.....will listen to sensible offers.

See there's the catch the dealer had made your trade in look good by putting £1k on it,  all he was doing is mixing the figures around so you thought you was getting a good deal when in essence you was probably paying over the top for the pre-reg 15 model.

This is what £3800 buys. Low miles as well and minta then a mint thing .

Good luck

had some silly offers of £2,500

I don't think that's a silly offer, I think your original price is £1k overpriced .

Did you try the quickshifters on either bike ! The XR shifter is the business up n down shifts with auto blipper, the RS shifter is not as good and takes some time to dial in.

The esa suspension on the XR is shite it only has 2 setting road and dynamic,  road is to harsh and kicks off every bump and dynamic is even stiffer. The Rs has several esa settings, so your able to find a setting that suits plus it has a soft option.

Vibes ! You don't mention the vibes in the bars on the XR in someways it follows the gen1 trait with engine vibes.

The XR comes in a low version for guys n girls that are not 7ft, it's 50mm lower then stock and looks right as some low bikes look daft.

I brought the low XR

However it wasn't for me, vibes-harsh suspension-lots of cheap looking black plastics, it's fast really really fast and the engine loves to rev but it's only when it's 7k upwards you understand this bike and it wants to rev like that all the time. I realised I wouldn't be able to live easily with this bike for touring etc @ 70 mph it's @ 6500rpm, like you pointed out it pulls in any gear from standstill, it's geared all wrong in my opinion, so what did I do ! i sold it privately after 80 miles.

I brought this instead.

General / Re: Quickshifters !!!
« on: 12 December 2014, 08:35:04 pm »

.
It's only really needed for racing as it reduces the time you're off the throttle by fractions of a second. Over the course of a race those fractions add up to faster lap times.

Not true, especially as new bikes of today have these "factory fitted" on one of the bikes i have, the quickshifter is factory fitted and it also alloys downshifts ! You roll off the throttle and as you tap the lever it blips the throttle and changes down a gear without the need to pull the clutch lever in ! the bike in question ain't a sport bike either.

Don't be fooled by bods whom say they can do the same by rolling off the throttle and quickly snapping up on the gear lever ! They can't, a quickshifter allows you to change gear 4x faster than a blink of the eye.

You might struggle to find something for a Fazer,

Nah you won't, i fitted a translogic to my gen1, you can just see the shifter on the linkage rod, easy peasy to wire up if your confident with a soldiering iron and your bikes loom, take ign cut to coils, positive and neutral to battery.

Sorted :)

I have them on every bike, even fitted one on my gs !!

Dare I ask, how is the k1600 for issues.

Don't no, I'm afraid i have no interest in the k16.

But the gs ws ! I speak from experience, not one but two lemons in 12 months second one went back for a refund after having a replacement engine, i should have kept the Fazer !
