Went for a first longer ride on my 2001 FZS600. I saw my right foot and the right side of the engine were all greasy. A thin layer of oil. After some 400 kilometres, the amount of oil spilt was about 1mm lower on the leve checking window (from full, to full - 1mm leverl). So still well over half. Tried to see where the leak was. Seems to be near the bottom right part of the engine. Either at the bolts, or at the seal. Hasn't happened before. Has anyone experienced similar problems? I've marked the general area where the leak seems to be coming from. All the bolts in that area look suspicious. Though it could be some sealant between the engine and the engine side cover. Any ideas?

Anyone tried and can tell me the difference?
Roads are very slippery in my country. Tyres last LONG, but they skid easily, so I'm looking for a sporty tyre for the FZS600. 16 pro seem perfect, but don't come in 110/70 dimension.
Any other recommendation? Metzeler M5 Sportec Interact seem nice, though pricey.

A mate asked me to race for their club. He used to be a good racer, veteran now. Day before yesterday. He saw me ride, saw my one (and only so far) track day and said I could do OK. It's old-timer bikes race. Sad he'd give me a 100bhp bike, with good brakes. "We don't expect you to win, just finish the race". I did ask him about racing, but wanted to go for 125, or 250 cc. Really don't think I'm up for it after just one bloody track day.... but I'd rather die than miss a chance like this. Hope it turns out for the best. First race end of april, then one race every month. Medical exam is due in the next few weeks. I get to ride a proper (25 year old) sportsbike, YAY!

Anyone tried these tyres? How well do they behave on dry pavement, how long do they last? The thread doesn't promise grip in the rain, but I don't ride faster than a wounded snail in the rain so no problems.

Tommorrow I'm going to Hungary, Keckemet, for my first track day. Going with a friend who's experienced. Packing two bikes in a van. I'm a bit worried I might get too excited and crash bike/bones. A bit scared. But still can't wait. Feel as happy as a small kid, if you know what I mean. Anyway, just wanted to share this with foccers. Will see how old FZS600 handles with stock shock.

Always felt sorry Giggs hasn't got anyone to play football with in Euro or World Cup. Now without Giggs... disaster. 6-1 against not very strong or united Serbian team. Been teasing my friend, a Honda owner, that Honda is for pensioners, it's dull, etc... Then, yesterday, I gave her sister my fazar for a spin. So far, the sis has been learning on the friend's CBF600s. Sis came back with a big grin and said something like: "this bike is so much better!" Just thought I should share it.

Did it. Finaly. Some country dusty road, had a hidden hole, front wheel in, down in no time. Fucked up fairings. All the medal holders bent, while fairings themselves are just scratched. Plastic thingies that hold fairings to the metal are almost all broken.
Managed to lift it up by myself. Now I know it's not too heavy for me. Managed to get it fixed, started and going home. Since fairings were already fucked up, I was so relaxed and managed to finally scrub the rer tyre to the end (no more chicken stripes). Serbian roads are very slippery (tyres last long, but bad for cornering stability).
Oh, knee took most of the fall, but nothing broken. Running, riding bicycle.
Now I'm just pissed for it's a bother to find spare parts and good grease monkeys round these parts for things I can't do myself. Fuck!

Took the bike for the sea last few weeks. Lots of nice twistyes. No problems at all, except occasionally speed and revs "needles" would drop down to zero, simultaneously. Stay down for a second-two. Then go back to where they should be. Such things happened when I was holding steady throttle usually, or slowing down just slightly. It would usually happen twice, then not appear for a while. Is it some speedo breakdown, electrical problem, or an malfunction code?
The bike is 2001 FZS600. KN air filter, open end can, dyno jet kit.

Just wanted to say, after 2nd year of owning a Fazer and reading this forum/site: it is an excellent place. Loads of useful tips, advice, manuals, experience etc. Been looking for similar forums for helping with my mate's Honda CBF600 and SWMBO's Peugeot 106, and couldn't find anything nearly as good. Only then did I fully realise how good FOC is. Cheers!

Here I am. THE king of bed speling and a black 2001 FZS600 rider from Serbia (the country of sunshine, cheap beer and coppers amazed if you stop at their signals when on a bike).
