General / Re: Car Tyres« on: 07 January 2014, 06:01:18 pm »there's cheap and there's cheap. Part worns can be good value BUT you don't know the history of them. True, when you buy a second hand car you have the same concern but I would rather put a mid range tyre on and miss out on the meal out or whatever than put part worns on. Most part worns come from Germany etc where the legal limit is 3mm and it is law to have winter tyres in wintery conditions. Its pretty obvious when you go to fit them, if they are blistered, bulge etc, then reject them. Thats what I do. 29

I've had part worns on a 300bhp rwd car before and had no problems, even on track. I have part worns on the back of my E55, much better than any cheap stuff . 30

Thats what I read too, mine seems to be ok, its rattly for 30 seconds then quiets down. Must have been done as its done 86,000 miles. 31
General / Re: Picked up another bike« on: 07 January 2014, 12:11:16 pm »
Yeah mechanically its ok, did the 100 mile journey back without issues. Just needs service items, tyres, brake seals etc. Then I will get it tested and taxed and work on the cosmetics!

Buts It's not another fazer. Even though I was looking at some.
It's a 1990 cbr1000 f. Needs a bloody lot of work, but it was £150! Means I'll be able to keep up with you lot on the ride outs! 34

I would put some good condition part worns on. I put 2 new pirelli p zero 285/35/18 for £55 all in fitted and balanced.
They had 3.8mm of tread so 50% worn. 36

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Front Brakes Refurb - Still rubbing :(« on: 26 December 2013, 11:10:31 am »
When you say rub, do you mean that they actually slow the wheel down.
If you can spin the wheel in the air and it rotates more than twice under its own intertia, then I would say its fine. 38

FZS600 Fazer / Who has picked up my Fazer!?« on: 17 December 2013, 09:15:51 pm »
It was listed on ebay from JAX Motorcycles for £1795.
The cheeky bugger even told me the headlights where shit and needed changing, bastard! It was reg y297 nll. Hope the person who has bought it is on here, got a great deal! SP exhaust, cvieth ultraguage. led brake lights and led indicator boards, heated grips, alarm. Lovely bike! I do miss it! (considering the beamer has already had a new battery, regulator and stator, left heated grip and gear position sensor, all in 1 month)... 48

I have applied to beta test these. I doubt I will hear back.
I'm sure if they do go into production that they will be £1000 + 50
