For Sale & Wanted / Selling 2008 Fazer 1000
« on: 26 December 2013, 07:58:17 am »
Offering for sale my 2008 Fazer 1000

27,000 miles, good condition. 6months tax + 12 months MOT

Service history from Mounts Motorcycles

Valentino Rossi Laguna Seca 2005 paint job

Official Yamaha fairing side panels, Akrapovic can, K+N filter, Nitron Sports shock, tail tidy and, if it fits your head, matching helmet. New chain + sprockets 2000 miles ago and new Michelin tyres around 1500 miles ago.

I have had this bike from new and it has taken me all over this country, France, Spain and Holland without ever missing a beat, but after 5 years I am fancying a change (have my eye on a KTM RC8  :eek  )

Located approx 12 miles west of Swansea, 1 mile off the M4, message me if you would like to view / test it.

All sensible offers considered, but please note that I know what it's worth, am NOT desperate to sell it and am not going to give it to you!!

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Gen 2 ABS Brakepad change
« on: 05 May 2013, 10:37:38 pm »
Never changed the front brake pads on an ABS bike (or car) before (2008 Fazer 1000)

Is there anything special I need to know or is it just as easy as non ABS?

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Flat Battery - ABS warning light on
« on: 10 April 2013, 02:18:14 pm »
Do you store the bike outside where it could have had damp start eating away at it ?

Bike lovingly kept in garage about 3 metres from central heating boiler, under a woolly blanket! Car kept outside where the damp HAS started eating away at it (who cares!!)

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Flat Battery - ABS warning light on
« on: 10 April 2013, 09:04:10 am »
After only riding my 2008 FZ1 a couple of times over the winter, I went to start it after having new tyres fitted and found the battery flat.   :'(

After bump starting it for the ride home I found the red ABS warning light had come on and stayed on until I switched the motor off at home.   :eek

Will be replacing the battery today and am wondering wether the ABS light came on as a result of a not fully charged battery or wether there actually is a fault with the ABS.   :(

Anyone got any idea please?

I am 55 today  and really pissed off 'cos it's pissing down and blowing a gale that means it's not really a sound plan to go for a spin on my "other bike", an Aprilia RSV-R.

The fact that it's probably the slowest ridden RSV in the UK does not bother me one little bit, because when I am out on it I truly am Max Biaggi (or at least a tall, fat, old version from South Wales, Dai Biaggi)

The point is, I can't imagine a time when I won't want to feel like Max Biaggi now and again.

For fecks sake don't sell it, keep it in the shed, go and sit on it and talk to it (we all do that don't we?!) now and again and go out on the days you feel like a spin and be your Max Biaggi.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Rear wheel nut size on Gen 2 FZ1
« on: 27 January 2012, 02:09:22 pm »
Believe its a 32mm.

Bought a 32mm socket after reading in "Hot Poop" that 32mm was the correct size for front sprocket nut removal.  Front sprocket nut turned out to be 36mm and the only thing I could find on the bike that a 32mm socket fitted was the rear axle nut.

Cheers

Put an Evotech tail tidy on my 2008 Fazer 1000 'cos it uses the original indicators and fittings

Yo Bro

Just been out the shed and put a tape over it (don't have micrometer) and, looking down on the top of the LH fork at about the nine o'clock position (kerbside) the top yoke measures 18mm (+/- 0.5mm) would be my best estimate.

General / Re: First Euro trip - Pointers / Advice
« on: 28 December 2011, 11:08:33 pm »
A few of obvious ones (having just got in from the pub!)

1. Make sure your AA/RAC cover will get the bike home if things should go shit shaped (took a Harley to Europe 3 times and only came back on it once!)

2. Europe is much bigger than the UK so expect places to be further than you think.

3. Pack your top box/panniers/haversack etc etc then take half the stuff out because you won't need it. (have toured abroad at least a dozen times and STILL pack too many pants/tee shirts/woolies!)

4. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy - roads are better, food is better, attitudes to bikers are MUCH better!

Have a brill trip!

Recomend registered cab from airport into town, the newish dual carraigeway into town appears to pass through one of the shanty townships on the way through.
