Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Anyone had Ivan ECU reflash ?
« on: 27 February 2020, 06:45:44 pm »
Ive found out today that I’m due a small windfall in a few months  ( thank you Mr Khan ) so I’m going to get  Ivan to re flash my ECU,
However I’ve got a few questions and TBH don’t want to phone the US yet as it says on his web page contact only by phone I’d rather do it when I’m in a position to send it and that will be when I get the bonus which we haven’t got a date on yet.

What I’d like to know is how long does it take door to door ? What is the best way to send it ? Does it go through customs on its return and therefore incur import charges and sit in Coventry for a week?  as I’ve not purchased the physical item that’s being sent but is my property but I’ve paid for a service provided in the US it seems a bit grey
Any help greatly appreciated

« on: 26 February 2020, 08:17:41 pm »
Thanks Dudeofrude,
thats exactly the sort of thing I’m trying to avoid .
I’m now having a serious re think 🤔
At least with Ivan I know I’m getting the goods , I think I’ll start recommission on the old FZS while filling the piggy bank.

And CatalinU, I had my Gen 1 ivanised ( full monty ) and it turned it into a missile that to be honest made my Gen 2 a little disappointing at first but oddly I found the riding position more comfortable on the Gen 2 and I work inside what will become the new ULez so now I’ve got the best of both worlds or will have once I can afford for Ivan to sprinkle his magic on the Gen 2
Thanks all I think my mind is made up now  :)

Hi Mustang
Have you fitted back on yet , What work did he do and what did you think of it ? ( if youve fitted it of course )
Price wise that’s good compared to hilltop but downside for me is no bike for a week although I could get the old gen 1 out of mothballs but she’s sorned and not insured so it’s aggro and my last resort really plus if I’m gonna do that I might as well send it across the pond to Ivan ,money I know but there’s plenty to testify as to his abilities
There are places close ish to me but as IMO it’s the bike equivalent to brain surgery I’m not going to go anywhere unless I know of owners that are happy with work done which at the mo is pointing at hilltop

Hi all
I’ve got a 2013 gen2 and looking at getting a reflash not necessarily to add performance but improve the drive ability.
Does anyone know of somewhere good in the Essex, Herts, Suffolk or London areas that they could recommend, I’ve looked at hilltop in Leicester which is a possibility but it’s a bit further than I wanted to go and I don’t want to send it away for the work
It’s running standard headers ( not sure if front cat removed)  with an arrow can at the moment I’ve got a PCFC ( not fitted yet ) which I’d use along side the reflash which I feel allows me the flexibility to add/ remove mods as and when.

Introduction / It’s been a while
« on: 08 January 2020, 11:12:26 pm »
Hi foccers
It been a while since I last logged on so I thought I’d go for a re introduction
After a pedestrian thought it would be fun to run into the side of my Gen 1 while I was going through a set of lights, cue damaged fairing damaged carbon in fill panel , bent bars, dented tank , bent radiator , broken carbon rad guards, a broken tibia, chipped kneecap and 2 broken fingers I sadly parked the old girl up , once plod let me pay £250 8 weeks later to get it delivered back for the privilege of seizing it. I repaired the damage as much as I could but it was never the same so I parked her up again and went back to the wife’s 125 commuter But the Fazer bug didn’t go away and I decided on trying a 2013 Gen 2 which so far I’m quite pleased with.
I took a quick pic before leaving work as I know ya love a picture

I really don't get what pleasure wankers get from doing shit like that 😡😡 my wife's cars been scratched 6 times outside our house and my car about 4, it really pisses me off.

I would get another Yamaha decal, flatten the scratches down very carefully maybe 1200 wet and dry ?? Then use a touch up pen or paint on a toothpick or very fine paintbrush put the Yamaha decal over the original as most of the scratch is on the decal.
Then hope Karma does its job and the wankers get it back 4 fold

Time Rossi moved over and gave up the seat for  some young gun , been a great competitor and champion but time and tide waits for no man.

Trouble is that the "young gun" will end up being a Spanish robot, I don't agree with your view it's time for him to move over he's 4th in the championship with a win and podiums so far on a bike thats not the best M1 ever and  granted now with a broken tib/fib but that can happen to any age rider, would you say the same about Pedrosa ? And he's 5th or Cal Crutchlow. Also have you noticed the yellow in the stands at all the tracks around the world, who they gonna support when he goes ?

I have but .... it's missing clutch and it's got a broken exhaust stud ( taken off low mileage bike)  PM me if your interested, I'm in Essex but would consider putting it in the car boot and meet you half way

19
ive decided to sell my Givi panniers and side racks as my arthritic old knees don't like me touring anymore and with my fat arse the Mrs and the panniers it's a bit too much now.
Anyway they're used but in good condition, a few use scratches but not much, I'll take £130 for the lot.
if anyones interested I can get them out the cupboard and take some pics
It'll have to be collect from Essex, (5 mins from J26 on M25) as they're big and with the racks it'd probably cost a small fortune to send em although I'd consider it if you want to pay it
Send me a PM if you're interested

General / Re: Who wants some free tyres?
« on: 30 August 2017, 10:44:45 pm »
I wouldn't bother with this on the basis that if the 'testers' thought the tyres were lacking or less desirable than tyres they've used from other manufacturers the review wouldn't see the light of day.
Isn't a free set of tyres a bit if a bribe in the first place?

Not everyone's in a position to stick a finger up at free tyres saving £250 and some might actually like the idea of being the first to try a new product also it just said in return 3 posts which appears to seem posts on this forum and permission to use your post wording and/or pictures in advertising ,so the reviews would see the light of day on here, whether they would the appear in company advertising is different but instead of looking at it as a bribe look at it as a payment for the time and effort

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Bridgestone BT021 front tyres issue
« on: 11 July 2017, 11:31:59 am »
Hi Ricky , having similar to you but I'm on Z8 metzelers with hagon progressives and R6 shock.
The z8's were new on it when I got the bike last sept and I've not been impressed with them although others seem to rate them highly and it's got worse after doing the shock and springs to where it's like a soft or hard pogo stick at the front depending on the setting ( tried most of them ) with the feeling I'm going to tuck the front every slow corner , I'm now going to start going back a mod at a time to see if it improves any ( although I've got a nagging feeling the garage fitted the springs, oil or gap incorrectly ) oddly though on my 600 ive always had Bridgestones except once I put PR2's which I hated and gave ( to me ) no confidence but just changed to 023 Bridgestone and it's like night and day and has transformed the bike ( to me ) and have got the chicken strips down to about 2mm
Returning to the 1000 I spoke to MCT a while back about suspension and when I said I had the R6 shock and hagon progressives they asked why I did that and recommended linear front springs and standard shock (refurbished) on the rear but at that time I had a lot of expense coming up and the springs and set up without the shock refurb was around £450 so I declined and decided to start putting back to standard and work from there.

« on: 11 July 2017, 10:32:39 am »
Hi Tommy,Just ordered (last week) 4 litres of Motul semi with 1l extra free for £25 from Sportsbike shop.co.uk. For the 600 My local yam dealer wanted £31 for 4 litres of silkoline comp 4 fully synth but I use semi in the 600 and when I last serviced my 1000 I got 5l plus 1 free and k&n oil filter from M&P for £32That first price you got sounds astronomical but the worst I paid was from a shell garage about 4 years ago when I had to do an emergency oil change on the 600 on a Sunday and the only place open was a shell garage and paid £8 a litre x3 as they only had litre bottles although I dunno what that would be at today's prices

I dont disagree about the work, I was surprised at the money it was going for considering it's based around a 1998 bike
