Did you buy a set from these people Jbizzle ? If so, what was it like, any good ?  I'm looking for a set for our 2003 600.

We have a set (TCP) on our 1000, which are fantastic, but they came with a complete fitting kit and perfectly colour matched (and cost more than twice as much).

Interested in the screen Stinch - is it in good nick; scratches etc?. If nothing untoward I'd be happy with the price.

I'll be travelling the M5 from Brum to Taunton and back Tues 28th (in the USA right now) - could meet to it pick up if that would OK probably on the Tues evening.

Just let me know  :)

Welcome Eric - hopefully you don't have to do too much work to the bike and can just get out riding - it's the perfect bike for it.

Once you're sure everything is as it should be, why not get it Ivanised (lots of info on here) - from all reports throttle response is crisper as well as the engine running stronger and more efficiently. It's on my list of things to get done before next spring.

Welcome to foc-u  :) . Hopefully the FJR and ZX will get used a lot less in the future. I use our Fazer 1000 a hell of a lot more than my Aprilia RSV or FJ1200 - it's just as much fun and comfortable as either of those (although my real love is the FJ).

Why the Foc is everything like this so far away from the shitty South East corner I inhabit :(

You having a laugh? Try living in the North East...... fuck all around at all let alone bike events haha

My nearest decent meet up is 30 miles away and that's just a car park in the woods. My nearest proper even is in Mcn Festival in Peterborough which is a 2 hour ride (at legal speeds)
I never had a bike when I lived down south but I had an American car and there was always event and meets on locally.

By the way this looks amaze balls!! I'd almost consider driving to Somerset for the night just to give it a go haha

I didn't really understand your post at first, as when I lived n the North East there was always somewhere to go and something to do on my bike........ then I realised you meant the north east of the Midlands 😂.

To me, the North East doesn't start until Helmsley and goes north after that....Cleethorpes is definitely in the Midlands - and I agree with you, not as much do on the bikes down in the Midlands 👍

If your talking arrogant twats Carl Fogarty seems to be the gold medal holder. I've spoken to several people who've met him and they all say what an ignorant, arrogant bloke he is. Anyone else had any dealings with him?

Met him twice, once at a dealer open day in Durham many years ago - where my missus told him that he looked much taller on the telly - and once at Brands Hatch after a WSB round. Both times he was genuinely nice and pleasant to talk to, even if it was only for a few minutes, happy to have a laugh and really down to earth. But, I can understand why people think him arrogant if they just watch the snapshots of him when he's competing and animated.

I must say that the only time I've ever watched any of the Celebrity reality programs was when Foggy was in one and I wanted to see how he was - and I wasn't surprised at all that he won - totally matter of fact, fearless and not afraid to have the piss taken out of him, just as you'd expect from a bike racer.

Had Pilot Road's (2's I think) on Liz's 1000 for a long time now. Just replaced the rear with a PR4 (couldn't get a PR2 or 3 there and then) - so far, so good, love it, stable but with a nice smooth lean-in, very confidence inspiring after riding on a well worn tyre for a few miles.

Those TCP fairing lowers look great on the 600. We have them on Liz's Fazer 1000....must track down a set for the 600  :)  !!

It looks from the photo's like there's damage on the left side - engine casing and petrol tank (garage scuffing?).

Overall, it doesn't look like it's worth that money though to me.

General / Re: what did you do with your fazer today ?
« on: 19 July 2017, 09:03:20 PM »
Prepped Liz's Thou for its MOT - new Pilot Road 4 for the rear, brake overhaul (all 3 calipers), took apart, cleaned & greased all shock linkages, fitted R6 shock and dog bones (with temp 2.5mm spacers for the too mount), cleaned lubed and adjusted the chain and lubed everything in sight (and out of sight). Then decided to change the oil and filter while I was on with cleaning the engine - and finally gave the whole bike a clean and polish.

She looks good for a 16yr old bike.

Hi Luke,

I have (what I believe is) one of your R6 shocks and dog bones that I bought from another member on here, but have a quick question.

I'll send you a pm with the details - could you also please send me a link for the Help the Heroes Donation Page so I make a payment.

Hi All. Over the weekend of 27th-29th May, my wife and I have organised (for the 10th consecutive time) an annual 150 mile Cycle Ride across the UK from "Coast to Coast", to raise money for a very deserving cause - Macmillan Cancer Support. Many here know this, but for those who don't, Macmillan provide free care and support, both at hospital and in-home, for cancer sufferers (and where necessary, their families) which is only made possible by people making donations and carrying out fundraising activities.Liz and I have both lost our father's to Cancer, in both cases their suffering lasted a period of years, rather than weeks - and we have a number of other family members and friends who have also suffered and who benefited tremendously from the support that the Macmillan Nurses provided. We have somehow managed once again to get another 25 riders to take up the challenge with us (most of whom have links to someone who has been supported by Macmillan) and we're looking forward to a great challenge, as well as great fun (over 13,000ft of ascent).I've attached a link below to our "Just Giving" donations page and while thanking those who donated last year , we hope that there are plenty of members here who will feel inclined to help us in the cause and make a donation (or "another donation", for those who have supported us in previous years) no matter how small, or large, everything will be greatly appreciated. So here's a "thank you" in advance and the link to our donations page.

That's a difficult one Brett - a lot of recently developed Industrial areas between those two places. Outside of visiting Bruges for a few hours, and  some well known Military cemeteries, there's nothing else that I'm aware of, but I'd bet you'll find lots from some of the WW1 & WW2 historical societies. That's the best I can offer, sorry.

There are a whole load of old "Dogs" (BMW R45, Yam XS 250 & 400, Kwak Z400 twin to name just a few) on evilbay right now, all listed as "cafe racers" at STUPID prices. Almost all are unfinished, badly engineered tat that's about as far away from a cafe racer as you can get (some even have knobbly tyres ffs) but idiot Hipsters seem to want to pay for them in their droves.

I don't know if anyone else remembers this - and he didn't tout it as a cafe racer - but Henry Cole picked up (IMHO) a half assed, half finished, botch job of an old Z400, cleaned it up and then proclaimed it to be worth £1,600 (on something like She'd & Buried). I wasn't surprised when he didn't sell it (decided he liked it so much he was going to keep it) at that price. I'm no expert, and Henry is, but I wouldn't pay that much for a Z400 unless it was functionally perfect and looked like it had been really looked after (almost concours condition).

Maybe I'm just a boring old fart !

Super Unleaded petrol - or the (Shell) V-Power type diesel.

All the cost for no measurable benefit.

The original battery on Liz's Fazer 1000 lasted 14 years. Replaced it with a Yuasa.

Bike is  always on an Optimate type of charger when not in daily use.

I'm a believer in these things - similar treatment with my Aprilia RSV and it's original battery lasted 10 years.

Our 2003 Fazer 600 hasn't had it battery changed yet (also has Optimate connected whenever it's not running).

But, even with the same treatment, my FJ 1200 seems to need a new battery every 5 years or so - no matter what type.

Always wondered why my electricity bill was a bit high (nothing to do with the 400 watt security lights that are constantly going on overnight due to all the bloody cats, squirrels, foxes etc that come into in the garden (or run along the fence).

What make of belly pan was it ? Looks nice - might get one for our 600.

Hi Tom, welcome to the mad-house.

Looks like your baby hasn't had a "pampered" life, but it's all there and I'm sure it'll not be too difficult to bring it back to prime condition.

Hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoy our Fazer's.

Good colour choice for your first Fazer 👍 - Impressive luggage and liking the screen, what brand is it? Puig, Skidmarx etc ?

Went to Rother Valley and did a 42 mile cycle ride (mostly off-road) to, and around, Clumber Park, and back to Rother valley.

15 of us, mostly in the 55-79 yr old range, with one teenager - bloody marvellous day. Would have been out on Fazer's (and my RSV), but youngest is in a wheelchair for 6-8 weeks (Kung Fu training injury) so he can't ride his Fazer and Liz and I have a 150 mile Charity cycle ride to train for.

Jealous of everyone out on a "real" bike last weekend !
