Hi All, just wondering if there still exists a company to service upgrade the original rear shock, not really bothered where they are located in the UK, thanks in advance.

MCT down in Peterborough.
Darren there knows Gen 1 thous really well and did an awesome job on my front forks earlier this year.
He also said he takes rear shocks in the post, refurbs them and sends them back.
I have no reason to doubt he wouldn't do an outstanding job.
Take a deep breath, coz it all starts now, when you pull the foccin' pin

K-Tech serviced my original shock when I first bought my bike, cracking job at a good price. I promptly replaced it however, meaning that it was effectively (yet another) waste of money by me.
is it clean enough?

See what you mean, Brooks advised to stick a YSS on for less than £300 with 100N spring would be the same cost to service the old shock, yes they would say that but original parts are the issue.  Thing is I have a pukka Öhlins on it & selling the bike I’ll  get xxxx all for it if I leave it on. :eek

There's always original shocks on ebay for £50 or so, it would pay to fit one of them and sell the Ohlins separately.

I still have my newly (10 years ago) serviced original shock in the loft, it's done around 100 miles since the service. It would be interesting to know how it has held up over that time....
is it clean enough?
