I got one of these, connects direct to battery with its own reverse polarity protection, current and voltage management (so the bike battery won't go flat) extending cover so can be used in wet and fits in 5 mins. And now at £9.99.

I think its more to do with the alarm removal, Im not too sure about the box eye but the foxeye has an ancillary connector at the rear under the seat for an alarm to connect to, without an alarm fitted this connector needs 2 shorting links in it to allow the bike to actually fire.
I cant remember off the top of my head which pins need to be connected but I can check tonight for you

Yep def the rucksack,  I've had to pack to go away for work n had a 55ltr rucksack loaded with steel toecap boots, overalls and enough clothes n wash bag for a week weighed in at 20kg!! No probs as weight is on seat make sure shoulder straps are pulled tight once seated onthe bike and mine also had a waist band that I could pull tight...... It was rock solid and barely effected the geometry of the bike..... Only down side was high winds..... Me + rucksack made for a very good sail :(

I fitted Hel's a few months ago. very happy with them!!! a good fit and top quality.
give them a ring and say you are a forum member and they will give you a discount code to enter when you order online, I think the code gave 20 or 25% off so well worth making the call.

Sounds like a compression problem to me if the engine can't rev under strain??

Are you using a wireless mouse??  I know it sounds daft but I had similar issues when my mouse power was low....... The mouse still appeared to work fine apart from drop downs, a new battery in the mouse fixed it!! (please don'task why cos I have no foccing idea)

I'm now actually thinking about getting the z3 compact, seems to do everything I want and it appears they have sorted most of the bugs from the bigger z3.

General / Re: visor replacement
« on: 20 June 2015, 07:51:24 pm »
Depends on the overall cost of the helmet.  There is no treatment that will remove scratches enough without affecting transparency!! I replaced my box helmet visor after 2 years from race visors . Co . uk for about £20 pin lock ready......... Great visor n will hopefully give me another 2 years out the helmet then I don't mind spending £100 ish on a good fitting helmet

I do have one on my FZ6 and it not only takes out the "hole" in the power curve between 5 and 6000 RPM where Yamaha de-tuned the engine map to meet emissions regulations, I can also switch to the "fun mode" map which gives a nice power boost (ok, and I lose about 25% fuel efficiency, but you can't have everything!)
[/quote]

Agreed, these things can/do change the mapping on most fuel injected bikes (as you say at a cost)....... But I've seen them advertised for the fzs which as a carb bike can make sweet fa difference!!

I fitted mine 3 years ago using black silicone sealant. I roughed up both mating surfaces with very course sand paper, cleaned both faces with some IPA and covered with sealant. I made sure of a nice continuous bead all around the edges and let cure for 48hrs using a couple of clamps to hold together. It is still absolutely rock solid!! And I use the bike all year round.
I wouldn't over think it.

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Clutch slipping?
« on: 05 June 2015, 04:37:38 pm »
Increase in revs without increase in speed all points to clutch slip. Presumably you can hear the increase in revs as well and not just trusting the gauge? What mileage is on the bike? But it sounds like time for a new set of plates
