For me I love reading Lee Child books based on Jack Reacher. Most bikers could relate to his character in the books, he's a sort of wandering tough guy, hitch hiking across America aimlessly, he's a bit of a dark hero, but always does the right thing in the end and the action is awesome!

I bought some army Panniers a few years ago and they have served me very well. All I use is a couple of cable tidies and bungee cords, simple and cheap.

I agree with you completely about security FZSteely. .
My brother bought a crosser few years ago, nearly brand new .. 2 days later it was nicked out shed.
My dad upped the security on his garage pretty soon after as it stores a few bikes. Big steel gate inside garage, all alarmed and that ..
I know if my bikes there its safe as anything ... well safer than most.
My misis moans cos I store my bike there and not at home and it's a 15mins drive.  Got a few jobs to make it more secure at home before I move my bike! :/

Thanks mate, i'ts always good to have someone reading from the same page.

I know there's all sorts of statistics out there, so I apologise if this figure is incorrect. I heard somewhere that all bikes nicked with the intention of shipping to Europe makes the thief £500 quid "per unit". If correct then whether your bike is worth £1000 or £20,000, the thief gets only a fraction of the bike's true value! Not that they will give a toss, £500 to them is still a good pay day for a day's work.

After been the victim of bike theft myself, i've become paranoid about security. I'm in the process of moving house from a two bedroom house without a garage, to a three bed with a garage. At the moment i'm keeping my Fazer locked in my dad's garage, but when I make the move i'm going to be putting a ground anchor in, alarm, upgrading the garage door security, gps tracker etc. My dad thinks i'm being excessive spending all that money to secure a £1600 bike, but to me it is my pride and joy! I don't want to risk giving another thieving little shit the satisfaction of ripping me off, if anything I want any "would be" thief to take one look at the security set up and keep on walking!

I thought i'd share the good news, the idiot who stole my bike ended up with 4.5 years behind bars. I'm pretty jappy with that result!

Do I sense a shift in opinion here.

Trial by jury I am refering too

I have been on the receiving end of British justice system.

Nearly 40 years ago I was out for a Sunday stroll along the sea front with my then wife were we where living at the time. Our 4 year old son wanted to go to the toilet. Bad parenting on my part I let him go into the loo on his own. I thought I heard him cry out so I went in and caught this cunt trying to get him into a cubical. Long story short, I completely lost it and if it had not been for passers by I probably would have killed him. Only thing stopped me getting time was he was a known sex offender.
I was still done for GBH and was given a suspended 3 month sentence and bound over to keep the peace for 12 months.
About 8 months later I was standing at a bus stop and there was girl at the stop obviously pregnant. Two gobshites started giving her a hard time. I told them to behave and leave the lass alone. One of them fancied himself as a hard case and decided to take it to the next level. I should have walked away but being in my 20's at the time fuck it. Police got involved we all got done for disorderly behaviour. The girl gave her account of what happened and said I was looking out for her.
I was advised that I was going to be prosecuted. As I had previous I was advised by a solicitor to go via the courts and not a magistrates court. Court were advised that I had previous for GBH and was bound over to keep the peace for 12 months. At no time was my solicitor allowed to say why I was bound over or did the court advise the reasons for the order. I was found guilty of affray, fined £45.00 £200 costs and sent down for 3 months as this was my 3 months suspended sentence. Risely and Walton jails are not very nice places to spend any time in. I was out after a month. I had lost my job, could not get work, nearly lost my home. I decided to go back to sea as it was the only place I could get work and I had a family to keep and mortgage to pay. To say this put a strain on my marriage, well we split after 18 months.
Two silly decisions nearly ruined my life. I should have been a good parent and went into the loo with my son. In those days though there did not appear to be the wierdos around then as are now. How many on here though would have walked away from the bus stop and left the lass with the two gobshites.

I do not really have a lot of faith in the British justice system. I had never been in trouble with the police before or since apart from an SP30 3 years ago.

I certainly am not comparing myself to Ched Evans but he made an error of judgement has done his stretch and deserves a break.

Lew I couldn't agree with you more, any parent who encounters a nonce, trying to do god knows what to his or her child deserves every injury coming to them or worse, and I work in a Courtroom!! You should have had people lining up to shake your hands, not cuff them!

Wherever Evans goes in the footballing world in his search for employment, he will never get that monkey off his back. What he should do is go down the legal route and do things properly. No matter how much he pulls the puppy dog eyes, as it stands he is a convicted rapist, pure and simple. He shouldn't attempt to convince people of his innocence until he has gone down the proper appeal process. If he is exonerated then he has every right to walk around in the public eye as much as he wants, with his head held high!

Thanks guys, I was set on a black bike again but I found the Silver one and I couldn't resist and i'm pretty happy with the deal. I'm supposed to be going on a ride today, because my mates are keen for me to get back in the group with them but it's so windy it's putting me off.

Well It's been over 6 months since a piece of scum nicked my beautiful black FZS600, but i'm finally back on two wheels! I spent many hours looking at all sorts of options; Hondas, Kawasakis, Triumphs etc, but at the end of the day I just couldn't resist getting back on a Fazer. It's the bike I love, the bike I had wanted since I was 13 and I have no regrets with sticking to what I know.

It's a beauty with only 13K on the clock and in mint condition, most importantly it is living locked away in my dad's garage, until I get my own built which will be around 3 months time. It's great to be a Focer again!!  :D

Hi there,

Some of you may remember I had my Fazer 600 stolen, I have decided to go on the look out for a replacement, is anyone here looking to sell? Ideally I would like a box eye FZS600 in Black. Let me know if interested.

Thanks

James.

Might have missed where you said it but what sort of condition was the bike in when you got it back?

It was in an awful condition, totally written off after a head on smash. The rider was critically injured I think he bought the bike cheap off the thief.

Haha that's brilliant . Let's hope they lock him up longer this time ...

Yep, I hope so. He is facing 13 offences in total on top of the fact he was on probation. I have been advised that the cops are doing their best to throw the book at him. I wish they could throw away the key, he's just some dead beat bum who can't change his behaviour apparently!

So I got a call from the Police the other week. They have arrested a scum bag, for thieving my Fazer! He is denying everything but luckily for me he is the world's dumbest criminal. It turns out the idiot (who at the time was on probationary release from prison) was wearing a Police ankle bracelet. The fucking idiot thought the battery had run out and decided to go out and rob as many vehicles as he could. What he didn't realise is that the GPS tracker around his foot was fully functional and the cops have a complete record of his whereabouts from the moment he left his house!

To make things even worse for him I showed the Police a speeding fine to pile on the pressure, which when linked up with his ankle tracker showed him at the exact location and time of the speeding offence being commited!

See you in Court mate!!

Screaming at you....FAZER THOU....way better than a ZRX....my mate had one and my Fazer absolutely tanked it
Totally agree, I had a ZRX before I got my first fazer, the fazer is so much better in every way.
[/quote]

That surprises me. I like the way it looks retro 70's sort of thing, real sort of muscle bike. A mate of mine sold his SV650, bought a Bandit 1200, hated it, sold it and returned to an SV650. Which is what I'm thinking of doing with the Fazer if needs be. What makes the ZRX seem a poor choice to a FZS600 in your opinion?

ok I know this is unlikely but the bloke thats crashed the bike ! are we a bit quick to judge ?

for all we know at this point is he was riding it , he may have brought it in good faith ! or borrowed it with out knowing it was stolen ?

Buying it in good faith without the V5 document to back up a genuine sale? He would have to be pretty stupid to fall for that one! He knew it was stolen mate.
