Think this is a very rare screen.... Great wind prevention because it diverts air to chest, not helmet.... Genuine Yamaha screen £50 plus post...

Been sitting in the loft for many years..... Very good condition

timbo.... if you find out anything it would be much appreciated..... my understanding ( and i may be wrong ) is that the mixture screws will only affect the idling circuit and it would need different jets to alter the normal fuelling..... i would like it to run a bit leaner as well.......

wish mike was still about to give an input.

cheers

it had a air filter about 4k miles ago...... if you all think its ok , thats good enough for me...... i just expected the plugs to be a bit more on the brown side of black....... the only reason i took them out to check was because the end can exit pipe looked a bit sooty....... its running ok though, all be it a bit juicy on the mpg ....

cheers

yep it was ivanised 15 years ago by mike gtx...... not full monty though....... is there any adjustment on carbs to lean it out a bit......end can exit looks a little bit sooty as well....... just come back from a 1400 mile 6 day trip to scotland on it...... it did run faultless though....

doesnt need any choke to cold start...... in fact i could do away with the choke all together..... i never use it, thats another clue maybe to suggest its running a bit rich ?

cheers

thanks everybody...... new battery it is then...... i use an optimate, but was recommended not to leave battery constantly connected to a charger/conditioner, although the manufacturers of these battery chargers say its ok to leave them connected, but thats another can of worms.

if 2ma is good then i'm happy that i've got no old wireing problems causing h/r short ccts anywhere in the loom

cheers

no heated grips...... no alarm...... no usb socket........ the only current draw should be the instrument cluster timekeeping function

doe anyone have a definitive answer to what this should be on a gen 1 with no alarm or usb port etc, ignition switched off...... the manual i saw says 1mA, but this may be a generic figure....... have searched forums for an answer to no avail

cheers

cant refit it cos i dont have the ais  anymore..... dont think contacting yam usa again would do any good...... does the uk coc give a nox value ??

If you need an ais i have one in the shed not doing any thing.it would need the gaskets that fit on the exhaust stubs.Malc

thanks for the offer malc..... very much appreciated......i dont use the bike currently in london, so not desperate for the exemption..... i just wanted it for future proofing so i think i'll wait and see if a block exemption of fzs1000 is likely

Mines a usa import and yamaha uk wont supply a coc  against my frame/engine number
Same here, hence having to possibly sell it. You and I have the option of taking a £175 punt of that bike shop in hackey - but I have lots of other things I can use £175 on...

Have you tried yamusa or probably Yamaha.com?

yes i contacted yamaha usa a few months ago.... they were very helpful on the phone and said they could supply a coc...great i thought... however what arrived is a letter stating bike conforms to all federal and state laws..... no mention of a nox level........obviously useless to present to tfl

i was hoping mag would get whole model range exempted, because mine shows fzs1000 on logbook not fz1

if i got it tested at that garage in hackney, it may not pass cos i have removed ais......

any thoughts on this ????

this must be a flawed system.....2 identical fazer 1000s in the ulez zone, one with a coc, the other without....... the one without the coc  gets a fine, but that must be contestable if you have an identical bike...... i think i'll wait for mag to see if they get block exemptions
