FZS600 Fazer / a year of fazer fun...
« on: 31 October 2014, 07:06:13 pm »
just realised that it was a year today that my lovely  :faz  was delivered from the shop i brought it off in Cardiff
it was bog standard apart from the rear hugger and the rack,it was meant to be a all year ride to work bike to get me back into the groove of biking again, but 2 things happened to change those plans......

firstly, the gales and floods hit and i discovered this bloody forum !!  :lol  ( best thing to happen to a new fazer owner who's been 'off scene' for about 9 years )

so,as a direct link to advice/tips/adverts on here,ive

changed all the brake lines to braided hoses
changed the exhaust to a lush sounding Boewulf can
K&N air filter/oil filter
double bubble dark screen
had the seat re done/upholstered
upgraded the rear brake caliper/torque arm
oil/coolant/brake fluid  changed
changed the front sprocket nut
ordered the r6 shock upgrade from kebab19 (due soon)

plans for next year, fit the shock, set it up for me,change the front fork oil and use it more often,im already planning my 9 day holiday from somerset to northumberland, scotland and the lake district in september !!

so,thanks for all the advice/tips/patience/sarcasm,roll on next spring  :thumbup
put 3.5k on the clock

General / bike cover
« on: 17 October 2014, 06:21:14 pm »
ive been planning on getting a 'lean to' built to cover the bike from the worse of the forthcoming weather, but the fella who was going to help me build it is flat out with work so is struggling to spare me a few hours,so ive just had a shufty on the WWW and found this, anyone have one? the beuty is,you can rawplug it to the ground as the wind last winter took the flimsy cover id brought right off the bike.ive brought a OXFORD STORM cover, but it still lets a bit of water in if its pissing down,so i'll use the cover and this together. and if ever i move i can take it with me.

FZS600 Fazer / indicator out of its hole.....how to replace....
« on: 27 July 2014, 09:35:19 pm »

ok,after the bike toppled over yesterday when it sunk into the hot tarmac off the main stand,my nearside indicator has popped out of its hole in the fairing and is obviously wobbling about....

having given it a quick shufty today,am i right in thinking that to replace it i need to undo that very soft looking philips head screw on the back of the indicator, seperate the back part, replace into its grove and re fit the back part to keep it in place?  advice please kind foccers !

also, does anyone know of any aftermarket brake/clutch levers for a 2001 boxeye?  was looking on the ASV website, and they dont seem to go that far back to my old girls era

cheers, pilgo  :thumbup

have to say a big  :thumbup  to Demon tweeks online service......

i ordered oil/air filters, and a 4 litre and a 1 litre bottle of oil yesterday at 16 45,got a email last night that it had been dispatched and found it on my bench at work at 14 00 today. the oils are wrapped in bubble wrap and its all snuggly packed into a tough box to stop it rolling around/splitting in transit.

bloody well impressed.

so if yer looking to order any consumables for your  :faz  i can recommend this lot.

unless you know otherwise...... ;)

FZS600 Fazer / fitting bar end sliders
« on: 02 January 2014, 07:22:58 pm »
ok,i tried to fit my bar end sliders from RG RACING (r&g) today,i undid the bolt holding the standard bar end in place, but the bung with the thread which the bolt screws into is well stuck in place within the handlebar and appears unremovable, where as the replacement bar ends need to be screwed into the end of the handlebars.
has anyone fitted after market bar ends, and did you have to remove the 'bung' from within the handle bars?
and if so,how,as the bungs have no shape to them to be removed by a spanner/socket set?
sorry to be stoopid, but im clearly missing something!!

(sorry, carnt add photo's as have no way of uploading them at the moment)

any tips chaps?

General / waterproof covers
« on: 10 November 2013, 08:38:52 pm »
anyone recommend a good WATERPROOF bike cover? theres a load of em on various sites but im guessing you guys will know whats best through hard experiance, as the cheap one i brought is shower  proof at best and it appears the garage (ok,shed!!) that i was offered seems to have fallen through so i need a more robust cover.

thanks in advance

Introduction / back to bikes on a fazer 600,
« on: 30 October 2013, 10:58:17 pm »
hi all,

well, after 8 years away from biking,i found myself in a position to get back on the road again,so being the cautious old git that i am,i did a 2 hour 'back to bikes' session with a local bike trainer, he provided the bike which was a 600 fazer and i instantley felt at home on it. my last bike was a thunderace 1000 so the fazer is a lot lighter and the sit up and beg riding position really suited me. so the plan to get a bandit/hornet went out the window as i knew i wanted a fazer,so after searching the web for a few days,i kept going back to one bike in particular,at a dealers in cardiff, which i brought last friday and is being dropped to my gaff in deep dark zummerset tomorow!! im like a kid waiting for christmas here  :)

being a complete PC numpty,im unable to put up a picture of it,but we all know what  a black 2001 fazer looks like. it has a rear hugger, rack, front fender extender thingy, and stainless down pipes on 14,500 miles.

things to do to it are braided front brake hoses, tank harness,Quill exhaust (the one that sounds sweet but is legal) and maybe a double bubble screen. oh,and ride it as much as possible!!  :lol

look forward to getting lots of tips off here,i already know that the front lights have candels in where the bulbs should be and ive not even riding in the dark yet,see how good you guys are to us newbie's?
