Also could need new fuel lines.

Location: Coney Hall, near West Wickham and Bromley, Kent.

Opportunity: If you can get it going it can be sold for a good few hundred quid to someone outside ULEZ, or broken if not. Or use it yourself and take it over 100,000!

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Restarting bike after many years unused
« on: 21 July 2023, 03:19:44 pm »
Just to update this thread... that there's no update  :\

The bike's at my Mum's house and I only had a certain amount of time to dedicate to this. I've been back but there wasn't a moment to spare.

When I'm next there I'll have a go with the easy start - well I got some so I may as well (thanks robbo :) )

In the past I've balanced the carbs several times. Once it's been stripped to that level is it easy to 'drain the carbs off' and look at and clean or replace the pilot jets? Or am I only half-way there at that point?

One other point to mention, when I turned the key it clicked for a while - to be expected of course. But when I next turned the key it did the same. From memory it didn't get to the point where I'd turn the key and it just clicked once or twice. Problem? Clue?

Thanks for the reply. TBH my abilities won't stretch to being able to do that :lol  What's easy start?

I should have written in the first post that I want to sell it, and am assuming I'll get more for a runner than if someone has to come with a traler. Hense the desire to get it started. But if it's too expensive or time comsuming I doubt it's worth it.

FZS600 Fazer / Restarting bike after many years unused
« on: 24 June 2023, 08:56:26 am »

My 2003 Fazer has been unused since about 2015. For time it's been in a garage. This summer I've bought a new battery and changed the petrol. When I press the ignition button it turns over, and seems to want to start, but just won't.

Could it be because the petrol between the fuel tank and the carbs is still the old stuff? If so is it a question of trying and retrying until the new fuel reaches the engine? Or are there other likely causes?

Thanks for any help.

For Sale & Wanted / Train ticket London to York Thursday 5 May
« on: 01 May 2016, 09:22:38 pm »
Bought but no longer needed. Yours for my expenses i.e. cost of stamp or bus fare to hand deliver. It's a single ticket on the 13:08 from Kings Cross in the 'quiet' coach (although there's always free seats elsewhere on the train if you prefer).

Harry, are you part of the police or did you just notice these vans yourself? Because if the latter then surely it's better to get very unobservant drivers off the road for a few months (through points) than to slow them down for one afternoon?

Hello. You may not know this but foc-u changed boards a few years ago. All the old posts are at http://fazerowners.yuku.com/

There's a sprocket nut thread in its Archive board (near the bottom).

Actually, you could look through the archive to see if you find any of your old posts and therefore your username!

Anyone else get it?

:rollin Brilliant, can't believe that worked  :lol  Well done for figuring out my dodgy instructions for the keyboard site and blimey o'riley well done for recognising the tune.

Thanks for the videos :thumbup I trawled through loads of Girlschool videos yesterday but by luck not that one.

Good to hear it again after all these years - I was head banging but my hair hasn't lasted as well as theirs  :lol

One last question: is that Wayne Rooney in joebloggs' video at 14seconds??

Got a tune on my brain, from late 70s or early 80s. Not sure if it's really famous (like ACDC or something) and I'm being dense or someone obscure (like Girlschool, remember them?).

Anyway, seeing as a tune cannot be described in writing, here's the next best thing: an online keyboard  :eek

If you have a second (and are knocking on a bit) would you please copy this string of letters (i.e. highlight then then right-click copy):
reqlk  h h  reqlk  h h  reqlk kkkkl llllh

Then go to http://www.buttonbass.com/PlayerPiano.html

On that screen should be a keyboard. Above it is some buttons, click 'Clear' then paste into the box above that. Then click the green 'Play' button - it's the only bit of the song I can remember and I'm not sure about the third bit.

So... name that song!!!

Motorists killing and avoiding jail is more common than you'd think.

A driver has been found guilty of killing a biker down here

Hopefully the Judge will see fit to lock the idiot up...

Of course not.

Motorists killing and avoiding jail is more common than you'd think. This is from yesterday.

Then there are many many cases where drivers have ploughed into some poor sod but are cleared because of low sun / poor visibility / wet roads etc.

And then there are cases where a jury of drivers have cleared another driver even though the evidence so obviously points to death by dangerous driving.

Oh what's the point.

In all* other areas of crime there are under cover operations so why not speeding?

That's what really annoys me about it. If it's NOT about safety, don't say it is.

Yes fair enough. "Safety" was presumably some spin doc's invention, the dicks. I always thought the yellow gatsos should be called "Are you paying attention" cameras which nobody could argue with.

General / Getting money out of Spain
« on: 19 June 2015, 07:14:32 pm »
Seeing as a few of you have Spanish properties / live in Spain...

Someone I know has money in an account at a Spanish bank. He's now living in London and would like a UK bank account so that he can have a debit & credit card in GBP.

Today we went to Santander (the bank, not the place) and they said that money could be transferred from Santander in Spain but, like money transferred from any other bank in the world, there would be charges to pay.

So is there a way to get money transferred without or with minimal charges?

I've never really understood the argument that all cameras should be highly visible. If you go to the Notting Hill Carnival they have visible policemen which keeps people lawful within a certain radius of them, but you bet there are undercover cops around for when the uniforms are out of sight. And you wouldn't lower the mugging rate with only uniformed police - they would just rob people somewhere else; you need undercover police to actually catch them.

In all* other areas of crime there are under cover operations so why not speeding?

ps it's probably futile to say that I don't a fight I just want it explained, but there it is.

(*possibly)
