Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Sold my Fazer
« on: 04 March 2013, 12:49:22 pm »
Well I spent all my spare time on the last couple of weekends doing those little jobs to the bike I wanted to and have just MOT'd and sold the bike.

It was riding bloody lovely, but I just couldn't adjust to the raised riding position.

I threw a lot of money at it really, BMW shock, braided lines and better tyres, but in the end, I am just not ready to sit upright on a bike.

It's gone to a nice chap who I did point in this direction, so you may hear from him aswell.

Thanks for all the advice that's been given while I've frequented the forum. You've been a good bunch.

If anyone wants some exup bolts as sent by ghostbiker recently, I will happily forward on to the first person to pm me.

Cheers all.

Set of nice silver bar clamps, with all hardware to fit a Gen 1 1000, probably fit all the others too.

They are Triumph Speed Triple / Tiger 1050 items.

Looking for £30 + P&P if anyone fancies, pm me I will email a few pics.

« on: 20 February 2013, 05:22:20 pm »
Well not being rude, but it's for me to worry about. I sold the Maxxis part worns because I didn't like them, someone bought them, I've had bikes with mis-matched tyres on when I've bought them - and sold one tyre on to buy a replacement and create a pair.

So there are a few reasons, I had the tyre tested & inspected and fitted by a professional. Would you change both tyres on a used bike, or all 4 tyres on a used car you buy too - you don;t know what's happened to them either.
Each to their own, anyway, back to the point of the thread people...

Yeah, I replaced with a nearly new, part-worn front and a new rear Pirelli, ...
Why?

Why would you put a tyre on your bike that someone else had a good reason to take off theirs? How much money could you possibly have saved when a brand new front can be had for under a ton?
£30 fitted cheers..!  :D

Ha ha, yeah seemed odd. My mate was looking for a new bike, come May he will have the cash, but it won;t be going their way for sure.

On the way up I said to him about the new Triumph Tiger Sport, he bloody loved it, so did I, could have spent his money for him.

I fell in love with the BMW K1300S, liked them already but sitting on it had me!

Yeah, I replaced with a nearly new, part-worn front and a new rear Pirelli, loads more confidence.

I sold the Maxxis on ebay to different people.

I want to paint / powder coat my frame covers the same colour as the frame, can you use the bike with them off, I am at work and can't get to see the bike.

Are they just cosmetic.?

Joe - BIN THEM ASAP....!

I have skim-read your post, but it seems to echo my previous feelings / thought on these tyres. My bike wore them when I bought it in September / October, they felt fine in the dry and rolled beautifully from side to side, really encouraged you to lean at low speeds in the dry, but in the wet, WHOAH, any sniff of power out of a roundabout taken gingerly and the back would let go, I even had a couple of 2-wheeled slides on it.

I guess as summer commuting tyres they'd be fine, but in mixed conditions they are not nice. I have replaced with a front Diablo / Rear Diablo Strada, MUCH better. I did get a nice 2nd gear wheelspin at about 75-80 off a roundabout provoking it though, but the Maxxis would have spat me off!

If I could afford it, I would try the Metzeler Roadtec Z8s mate... or the PR3s.

What Renthal are they? They look pretty similar or higher than the original, were you wanting higher bars or just something newer. Silver looks good, I have black.

15
I would have thought someone had done this before to the Gen 1 and would know of a swap item?

16
Was thinking this last time I rode the bike, seems to have a lot of rotation, so wondered if one from an R1 or similar would fit and make any difference?

« on: 07 February 2013, 03:01:23 pm »
Cheers, could do them together, but not a problem really, can't be messing about with tapping swingarm. I use centre stand at work and every time I clean the bike or do any work on it at all, so want to keep it, just tidy it up PO let the whole bike get a bit scabby.

Is the centre stand a sod to remove & replace?

Some spring cleaning and general improving will be taking place soon, centre stand is a bit rusty, so want to remove and have it blasted and powder coated, same for side stand, but one at a time.

Furry muff, just go for a normal Diablo rear then and put a Sport on the front next time...

Cool nice one. Black with black engine looks great, if it's the one thing I don't like about mine and the early ones it is the silver engine.
I've never done an exup valve myself, had a YZF750 where the servo failed and it was done under warranty.
Mine on the Fazer is all well and good, but I must look and learn how to do it, so it stays that way.
Good luck. Get some more pics up now she's yours.

tragic, very sad news. A regular MCN and  Bike mag contributor and columnist. He will be missed.

Thing is it can happen to anyone, anytime at a micro seconds notice. We should not place any blame at all on him by inferring he was " pissing about" ...FFS we know nothing !

Think you mis-read or mis-interpreted Steeeve666's comment.

It is a sad loss indeed, is there any more about the incident yet?

There is Diablo, Diablo Sport, Diablo Corsa etc, used to also be a Diablo Strada (harder then the normal Diablo) which they've replaced with the Angels.
I have a Diablo front and just fitted a new old-stock Diablo Strada rear, bike feels bloody awesome now, plus the Strada (same as a Metzeler Roadtec Z6 bar pattern) have extra deep tread from new, an extra 2mm I think it is, so they last ages , plus added ride height as a bonus.
I will find you a link to where I got mine from if you want it, as they are old stock they were cheap, like £75 delivered...  :D

Rocking horse shit mate....!

I've fitted some Triumph Tiger 1050 ones, drops the bars down a good inch. I think also Speed Triple 1050 ones are the same too.

You just need some M8 or M10 bolts - I can check at home which they are.

ebay might help you with the risers.
