FZ6 / Fazer / Re: Model numbers
« on: 20 September 2011, 06:38:07 pm »
Some apparent "facts" about the FZ6 model revisions. What this suggests is the FZ6 S2 was supplied with 98bhp but the European FZ6 (non S2) only had 77bhp which is the engine used in the Divvy. Details below:
2006 revision
The FZ6 in 2006 has a revised engine, frame, subframe, grabhandle, rear swingarm and wheels are painted in black. It had a metal honeycomb type catalytic converter satisfies EU2 and CARB emissions standards, and optimized fuel injection (FI) system mapping to increase torque at lower engine speeds

2007 revision
The FZ6 received optimized fuel injection (FI) system mapping, redesigned fairing and windscreen, new instrument cluster with analog tachometer and digital speedometer (similar to the FZ1), new four-piston monoblock brake calipers for the front brake, alumite-finished front forks with revised damping, a three-way catalytic converter, a new seat design, a new rear swingarm, and new passenger footpegs.

European versions other than the S2 have reduced power of 78 hp (58 kW).

2008 revision
The 2008 model is technically unchanged from 2007. The only difference is in appearance of front cowling around the headlights, which is now black regardless of motorcycle colour. The European model 'FZ6 Fazer S2 ABS' has ABS and electronic immobilizer as standard. It is also 5 kg heavier (Dry Weight 191 kg).

2009 revision
The 2009 model (introduced on September 8, 2008) is technically unchanged from 2008/2007 except for the addition of the FZ6R. The European model 'FZ6 Fazer S2 ABS' has ABS and electronic immobilizer as standard. It is also 5 kg heavier (Dry Weight 191 kg).

2010 revision
For the 2010 model year, Yamaha continued to sell the FZ6 Fazer S2 (half-faired) and FZ6 S2 (naked) in Europe. Both have full power (98 PS) and ABS. Reduced power models have been discontinued and replaced with the XJ6 Diversion (half-faired) and XJ6 (naked); both have optional ABS.

In North America, the FZ6R replaces the FZ6. The FZ6R in North America is similar to the XJ6 Diversion, except it is fully faired.

Even if I wasn't skint I would not buy one.
A cross between a high reving poorly fueled FZ6 and a high reving poorly fueled FZ1......how appealing......and I own both of the fore-mentioned bikes  :\

Was not aware that there were differences between the '08 S2 and the '09 model?
Am I wrong on this?

Some tips on getting rid of "wives" in would be great.
I was tempted to try trading my one in for a younger more up to date model but realised the residuals were just to low so stuck with what I have.  ;)

I will do my best to be there, although maybe in the car if the weather is bad  :o . I commute in all weathers and would not fancy a 2nd run of the day in the wet.
Two Bridges would be good as I could get a cab  :lol

I will see if I can make it next Thursday, although I will be driving. What time you usually meet up?
The Neily thing .....it must be something in the name that does it. My mates (or folk I know as I like to call them) feel the same way about me as that's my name too. I have a reputation for inane chatter and gutter level humour. I also take pleasure in inflicting my "Neilyness" on others so this could be a challenge for me  :lol

Being a newbie to your meets where is "Greyskull". The last time I had anything to do with that was when I donned my plastic power armour as a kid and tried to mount the cat........in a nice way of course  ;)

You need to make a decision on how you are going to move forward as it's impractical, confusing and messy having the two boards running in tandem.
Does everyone who uses YUKU know of the proposed changes? To promote awareness of this site you could:
1. Stick a banner at the top of the current YUKU site with the new sites address
2. Have a "sticky" topic in the Featured Topics section on YUKU

Just to stick my tuppence worth in, this site is MUCH better that YUKU.
Better layout and feel. Much clearer. This makes YUKU feel very dated and slow.
It takes alot of time and effort to set up a new forum and this place is a credit to those of you that have done all the work.
Now just needs more people to post in it  ;)

Your Suggestions and How you can help / Re: Redirect URL linky winks
« on: 06 January 2011, 07:05:20 pm »
Had a brief look at IE and if you are using an earlier version (IE6 or below) then you can set links to open in a new window. Does not work with IE7 or above though.
