I have been given an onboard camera with various brackets and straps to fasten it to the bike.I know there are some on this forum using them regularly and was wondering where is the best place to put it on the front of a gen1 1000 to get the best angle or footage.

If you want to buy a centre punch try an engineering supply shop, you need a very good quality one to smash out broken taps in holes, I know from the number of times i have had to do it at work over the years. Wear safety glasses when smashing the tap as you definitely do not want a piece of it in your eye!

Yesterday my yahoo email account was hacked from someone in Morroco, they have been sending random emails to people in my contacts list so if you receive any emails from me that look in any way suspicious please delete them immediately. One member has already received one so be careful. I have taken the recommended steps from Yahoo to re-secure my account but I would advise anyone to make sure their password is very secure and to change it on a regular basis. I know it is a ballache but my own complacency has resulted in my email being hacked so it could happen to you as well.

When I had my Kawasaki ZRX1100 I took every engine casing bolt out one at a time and measured the length and wrote the length down. I then went to my local nut and bolt shop and handed over the list and asked for stainless cap heads. Cheapest way to do it by far but not the easiest.

Keep the bike for fun. I am 55 years old and only now ride when I feel like it but I am still doing 3000 miles a year.

Don`t know if its true but my wife is sure she saw an article in a newspaper that said you will get the points on your licence even if you take the speed awareness course from sometime in 2013.

I am back at work wednesday so I am going to have a scrounge round. The painters use different size red caps to block off holes that have been threaded to prevent paint getting in and I remembered that when we do deep hole drilling the gun drills have blue caps on the end to protect them when not in use. These range in size from 3/16" to above 1" so I should be able find something. One more thing, when I put the cap heads in the exhaust ports I was just going to seal them with plenty of threadlock or instant gasket stuff, would this suffice to seal them ok?

Cap the #4 intake stub with another vacuum cap same as fitted to carbs 1 - 3, or cut the AIS pipe, leave it on the stub and plug it with a bolt.
Plenty of bottle tops are a similar size to the airbox stub. A dab of silicon and you're sorted. While you're looking for one to do the job, duct tape over the stub will do the trick temporarily.
Thanks for that, I was thinking along those lines but it is nice to have a bit of encouragement from someone who really knows what he is doing.

I am going to remove my ais system at long last. I have a new set of M8 taps and 4 stainless bolts to cap off the exhaust ports but I don`t know what size plastic caps I need for blocking off the other outlets. Does anyone know what size I need or is there another way of blocking them off neatly?

All insurance companies now do random checks on various databases. When I argued about it they said they said they could cancel my insurance which would effectively mean i had insurance refused.Once that happens it would make affordable insurance very difficult to find. They make the rules and if you don`t like them its tough is the message from insurance companies. If insurance was not a legal requirement and you just bought it because you wanted it how much cheaper and easier to get would it be?

my wife bumped another car in a minor prang ,all sorted out by insurance no problem. But when i got my renewal for my bike insurance from carole nash they had put it up by £25 because i was a named driver on my wifes car policy. insurance companies have got us by the balls and there is very little we can do about it.

Walk out of the garge with the lights on, "oh maybe it's the side stand" I do that on a regular basis still, even after owning my gen1 for over 4 years.

not a bike moment but a car moment.I serviced my old capri a few years back and could not get it to start afterwards,3 hours later after i had given up for the day i found the rotor arm in my pocket! A bike moment,my first ever bike back in 1973,a yamaha RD250 again i serviced at my girlfriends home, could not get it to start afterwards, pushed it 3 miles home and then found i had put the air filter in backwards. Senior moments can happen at any age.

I think you really need to get a decent solicitor on this as it could drag on and as well as being out of pocket you are already finding yourself inconvenienced. No one at the rac will admit fault if they can avoid it and you will probably find yourself dealing with different people all the time.

If police say it was dangerous and illegal, and you were hurt enough to be hospitalised, don`t they automatically prosecute? Its good that you can forgive your friend but the consequences could have been a lot worse.

I was thinking about selling my gen1 last year, had test rides on a few bikes including the gen2. I found the seat to be a plank, less low down grunt but more top end grunt. Get a decent long test ride on one if you can and then decide, everybody is different and what one person dislikes another person does not even notice.

Its just another job for the boys, not needed and not wanted by the vast majority. The fact that candidates are affiliated to political parties says it all.I also would have expected the candidates to be time served experienced coppers, not people intent on furthering their political aspirations. I`m not voting and I do not know anyone who is and before anyone says you should always use your right to vote, there has to be someone worth voting for , not just picking the best of a bad bunch.

I have a non standard rad guard, don`t know the make, and it was also rubbing on the rad. I put some small squares of rubber at each corner and that did the trick.
