Wanted to build something of a beast. My go-to Zombie Apocalypse bike. Almost put a rear wheel on the front but decided life was better than death.
Tools used:
- Angle Grinder
- Electrical tape
- Bloody fingers
- Youtube
Bike:
- '98 Fazer FZS600
- Sydney, Australia
- 100,000kms on the clock and still runs like a dream
- Bought for $2k, parts $1,300
- Self built in countless hours, on nights and weekends

That Second photo accomplishes the "Beast" image you were aiming for? MUCH attitude! :)
...isn't the Fazer such an adaptable machine! Plus very rewarding (for you) to see the end result, knowing you put all the blood sweat and tears into the project.
Did you need to do much engine / dyno work, after fitting those Cone filters?

Lots of people say it’s a no no.
Can you send me the tyre specs? Amazed that front tyre fits under the guard!

Looks good! Could you post a picture of how the clocks are mounted to the headlight brackets? I'd like to do something similar.

Yeah it feels good thats for sure!
I re-jetted the carbs with a stage 3 performance kit - it's an interesting mix with a slightly high idle but puts out well. No dyno but if I was serious I prob could in the future

Don't listen to other people unless they're helping you fix something is what I always say. You just have to re-jet you carbs. Takes like 30 min Wirth a kit on ebay then a bit to tune.
Tyres are Continental TKC80 Twinduro. Expensive, top of the line but really complete the look!

I just picked up a tkc 80 Rear tyre 150/70/17 for £11.50 with half tread.
Very curious what width and height your front tyre is??

Tyres are good.....off road.
Had them on a KMX once, not good at all for the road.
Just saying.....
I do like the look of the bike, i think it's wicked.

Hi, I'm new. This looks great. What did you do for the seat - did you need a new seat pan, or just take off the upper level of the existing one to flatten it?

Well all I can say is EPIC. Great build. I've a 2017 Yamaha MT-09 Tracer in the garage but I'm a bit precious about it sadly so I've just plumped for a '98 Fazer. The intention is of having a toy to play with and to make a project bike scrambler. Like Daryl's bike on TWD. I came across the reviews for the Fazer and I was instantly sold that this could be a great winter hack, a fun bike with a lower seat, a comfortable riding position and now your build as an idea of how I can fettle the machine into something rather stunning and a head turner. Can't wait.

There is something about the scrambler look I quite like. I wouldn't do it to my bike but if Yamaha sold one I could be tempted.

I can't actually remember - there is only one size that fit the standard fazer wheel if I can remember clearly - I took them in to a tyre shop and they cost a hell of a lot more than 11.50 :lol

Took an angle grinder to the top portion of the sub frame and then custom made a plywood seat (hot soak n bend). Waterproof vinyl and galvanized tin for the guard/battery box

thanks mate, I had a blast building it! The MT already looks sick so no need to chop that for around 10 years ;) . Fazers are just all round too good and too easy to play around with. 4 cyl make it more of a project than traditional 1or2 cyl scramblers but they are so much more fun

if anyone knows how he got the cone filters to work can you please reply to me here? or if the new owner would be so kind as to check the jets etc in the carb? im working on a project and already had the cones bought but it seems like a lot of hassel so ive decided to put the airbox back in, any insights would be gratefully appreciated
