For Sale & Wanted / Desperately required
« on: 29 June 2021, 09:30:27 pm »
Does anyone have a mirror fitting plate (or two) they can sell me.
I set about repairing my fairing and found one of them missing which could explain the damage to the fairing in the first place.

FZS600 Fazer / Exhaust retaining springs
« on: 14 October 2020, 10:23:53 pm »
Does anyone know what length the retaining springs are that secure the downpipes are. I appear to have lost one and the other three all appear to be stretched. I'd like to replace them with new ones but want to get the right ones.

FZS600 Fazer / Chain Oiler.
« on: 22 September 2020, 09:09:15 pm »
I decided to fit a chain oiler but wasn't prepared to part with the sort of money Scott and the likes wanted.
I designed by own and the cost was less than £20.
It comprises of a small brake fluid reservoir (mounted inside the fairing), a fuel tap and a primer bulb fitted to a piece of angular aluminium. This was then mounted on the horn bolt. The pipes were fitted using plastic sourced from a busted old top box I cut up for the project.
I'm using 15w40 engine oil at the moment and a couple of pushes of the primer bulb is more than adequate to lubricate the chain.
I might tidy up some of the fittings when I find the time.

FZS600 Fazer / Crash bars and belly pan together?
« on: 16 August 2020, 11:00:48 am »
I've just returned to the Fazer fold after buying a 2002 reg FZS600s and it has a factory fitted belly pan. Is it possible to fit crash bars and the belly pan at the same time. Thanks in advance.

For Sale & Wanted / Odd request
« on: 16 November 2015, 11:46:58 pm »
I am after a hero blob (don't know the correct name) to screw into my right footrest. I don't need the footrest but I'll buy it if it's the only way to get one. If anyone can supply me with one I'd be grateful.

FZS600 Fazer / Newer clocks for older boxeye
« on: 10 September 2015, 09:27:50 pm »
Does anyone know if the later clockset from 2003 foxeye (the one with the two separate LCD displays) fits the 2000 model year boxeye.

FZS600 Fazer / Anyone know the correct name for this?
« on: 30 August 2015, 12:27:24 pm »
I need to fit an aftermarket fairing after dropping my fazer and need a few extra clamps like those pictured below. Trouble is without the correct name I can't hunt any down. With all the knowledgeable bods on this forum someone should know.
Thanks in advance.

For Sale & Wanted / To streetfighter or not?
« on: 20 August 2015, 11:16:29 am »
After a recent low speed crash I need a fairing but have noticed they ae as rare as hen's teeth. I realise I may have to go down the streetfighter/naked route. That would at least solve the poor lighting issues but can anyone tell me how much this will affect my insurance premiums due to being "modified".
Does anyone have any recommendations for aftermarket nose fairings that have decent lights.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
All the best.

For Sale & Wanted / Required after accident.
« on: 20 August 2015, 11:09:30 am »
Feeling like a right tool after a fifteen mph crash on a diesel spillage.
I now need a boxeye fairing in either gold/black/silver, gold or black.
Also a right front indicator, a right side mirror fairing bracket and a some bar end weights.
I'm sitting here being nagged by the wife for still biking at 56.
"I told you so" isn't what you want to hear when you're in pain and about to be out of pocket. Any help will be gratefully appreciated as I want to back on the road as soon as possible.
All the best.

FZS600 Fazer / Mileage correction recommendation
« on: 26 July 2015, 02:51:46 am »
I've managed to get a new (to me anyway) set of UK clocks to replace the import ones. The trouble is they have 98,100 miles on them. Does anyone know any reliable company (preferably close to Cumbria) who can adjust them to the 25,700 miles that my bike has actually done. I have the MOT's to prove my bikes actual mileage.

FZS600 Fazer / How varied is your bike ownership history?I
« on: 03 July 2015, 08:09:28 pm »
I don't know if this has been done before but I thought it might be nice for some of us older farts to take a walk down memory lane by way of foccers previous bikes.
In order (as best as I can remember)
1976 Vespa PX200E in orange
1977 CZ 250DL in black
1980 Honda CB400NB (Superdream) in cherry red
1980 Suzuki GS1000E in blue
1982 Honda C90 in blue
1985 CZ 250DL in metallic blue
1982 Honda CB250NB (Superdream) in cherry red
1987 Jawa 350DL in red
1987 1986 CZ 350DL in orange
1987 Jawa 350DL in blue
1982 Honda CX500E (eurosport) in blue
1997 Honda CB500 in black
1997 Yamaha XJ600S Diversion in blue
2000 Yamaha FZS600SP Fazer (present) in gold/black/silver
Ironically the most fun I had was with the East European stuff and they taught me a lot about motorcycle maintenance. Not because they went wrong regularly but because it was impossible to get any technical information on them.
Apart from the CX500E which was an unreliable piece of shit, :'( (everyone's owned a pig of a bike at some time) I've enjoyed them all.
Motorcycling's a broad church and thankfully there's room for all of us.  :lol

FZS600 Fazer / Is this normal?
« on: 30 June 2015, 12:25:22 am »
I'm a bit perplexed. I pulled up next to another Fazer today and noticed it it had a different speedo to mine. Mine has a 260mph speedo. The other Fazer had a 260kph/160mph. Mine has no kph scale. Is this normal?

FZS600 Fazer / Has anyone encountered this?
« on: 26 June 2015, 10:15:40 pm »
I fitted a rack (brilliant bit of kit made by johnakay) and a top box. Before the fitment the rear of the bike was always clean. Now when I go out in the rain the number plate, top box rear, tail light and rear plastics are covered in road spray and dirt. Looks like I'll have to make a mudflap. I'm not keen on spoiling the look of the bike but I ride all year round so it's a must. Any suggestions or help gratefully received.

FZS600 Fazer / Looks too cheap?
« on: 01 June 2015, 06:18:49 pm »
I'm thinking of getting a better screen to provide a bit more protection for my 6 feet frame. Any thoughts on this:  http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=251833408568&alt=web A lack of  a relevant photo of the item doesn't help. Anyone had any experience of them?
All the best

FZS600 Fazer / Done to death........but
« on: 01 June 2015, 06:03:53 pm »
I haven't been out in the dark yet on my boxeye fsz600 yet and I know the lights are meant to be poor. The lights on my old divvie were nothing special with poor penetration and never too bright even with a night breaker bulb. Excuse my ignorance here but has anyone tried to use to H4's in both lamps by modifying the bulb holders or is this a waste of time. I ride all year round  :rolleyes and I'd appreciate the best lighting I can get. The projector set up looks good but at £180 ouch. Any suggestions as to how to improve them for a reasonable price would be appreciated. All the best.

Introduction / Hello from West Cumbria
« on: 30 May 2015, 03:08:20 am »
Hello to you all. I live in the wilds of cumbria where it only rains on a day with a Y in it.  I've been motorbike mad since I was seventeen, (38 years ago) it sometimes feels longer. I've been from a Vespa P200e to a Suzuki GS1000E with all sorts in between.  I've just pensioned off my old XJ600 divvy and bought a 2000 W FZS600  Fazer. I feel a little guilty but the Fazer is a revelation and I look forward to clocking up some enjoyable miles once I get it shod with new rubber. All the best to the lot of you.
