I'm interested in these GPS trackers.

Would they work with a simple pay as you go sim, or would they require a contract?

Andy

Hi Andy,

Mine arrived yesterday off eBay, I popped an orange SIM card in it and when I first txted the unit it responded by Google maps placing me in the middle if the Atlantic Ocean.

However when I stepped outside my house and txted the unit again it was accurate to within a metre. I think it gets confused when inside a house but as soon as I was out in the open it was bang on the money.

Hey pal..glad you at least got some closure on this........the winner of the foc-u-csi issss........punkstig.....he did say some foccin half breed would be doing some red bull x fighter antics on it......bastards....i hope he gets a flesh eating bug while in hospital & of course i wish him a certain kind of recovery.......ie recovery position & gasping for his feeble life.

Now i reckon the bike will be a write off......so Heather will need to now source you a new bike...she is a member after all...but we will of course need some more pics to confirm that :b

All pervy jokes aside.........what you gonna get...exciting times........just make sure it is Red.......these gen 2 thous sure are going cheap at the moment ;)

Haha very funny Noggy as a matter of fact I think she was going to strike a few poses in the summer but not until she updates her bikini draw lol.

Anyway I have been thinking about getting another Fazer it was the bike I wanted since I was a 13 year old kid, but I am thinking it might be an opportunity to try something different. So I think I'll buy a Kawasaki Zrx 1100 or 1200 depends what I find within my budget. If I find it's too big or just not for me my intention would be to sell it and go back to a Fazer.

Just to let you know guys; the Police called me this morning to say they have recovered my bike! It turns out some scumbag was riding around on it, lost control of the bike, hit something and now he's in hospital with serious injuries (although I'm not sure how fucked up he is) anyway the cops are very interested in having a chat with him if he recovers.

The bike itself is for the most part okay, although I've not seen it myself. I know the front forks are a bit messed up but it's probably going to be classed as a write off. Anyway I'm glad I know what happened to it and if the thief dies from his injuries, well as far as I care it's just one less parasite out there  :lol

I just wanted to say a big thank you to all of you who have shown an interest and tried to help me out. I would hate the same thing to happen to anyone else, so I thought I'd share this product with you which I have bought today, a GPS Tracker! They are only £20 quid on ebay. The unit connects straight to your smartphone, laptop etc and alerts you instantly; should your bike be interfered with, without your consent.

If I had have thought to have one installed on my Fazer not only could I have reported the bike's location to the Police, I would also have had the pleasure of being at the scene and laughing my head off as the scum were nicked! You never know if my bike was found others may have been at the same location.

Anyway here's the link below as well as a demo video found on youtube.

All the Best

James.

There's a guy on Biker Booty on facebook selling some Fazer stuff inc a black fairing may just be a coincidence.

Good spot Karlo

Thanks for spotting it but it doesn't look like it's the fairing from my bike, thank you for your efforts mate, very nice of you.

Ive had a deek at it & the guys profile...he studied criminology so i hope it wasnt him :b

Seems to have a real facebook profile which lessens the chances of it being him although i cant see most of his pics.

Here's a pic of it for fzsreely to look at anyway.

Lets keep up the good work foccers.

                                                                LETS ALL DO OUR BIT

Imo - this bike will never be sold as a complete bike.....too much risk for so little return....such cheap bikes right now...yamaha fzs is hardly a stolen to order bike is it...this was opportune.

Parts will most likely end up on here....some indistinguishable ie not black.

Look out for the big bits....front black boxeye fairing undamaged.....rocking horse shite.....if one turns up then it is too good to be true & likely pinched...tank....front fender....rear plastics.....all suspicious if not damaged.

Lets look out for new members with zero posts selling bits for a mate.

Lets look out for folk who dont have a clue about fazers (actually scratch that one thats all of us but you get the point).

Lets look out for the above sellers not accepting pick up or being shadey about their location.

Come on guys...don't buy it if it seems suspect..regardless of how much you need it.....remember....we may give our personal details to these thieves so we can receive the bits, unwittingly or not......be careful....be alert......lets catch these bastards out.....lets show them not to foc with fazers.

thanks mate and yes I agree with you, the amount of times you see someone selling something on eBay with the quote "selling on behalf of a mate" It's the dodgiest sounding advertisement ever, and furthermore what idiot can't figure out how to sell their own stuff online these days?

Sorry to hear that james, after all the effort heather put in too find and buy the right bike only for some scumbag to swipe it.....many miles from you but will keep an eye open....not many 98 boxeyes about so will be easy to spot, really do hope you get it back...

Cheers mate, you never know it might turn up, but after my experience with police enquiries I think I'm more likely to solve the mystery myself! Thanks for your support Red98 :)

Hi Guys,

It is with great regret and rage that I have to report my beloved Yamaha Fazer600 as stolen !! The Registration is R782 NFW. Please spread this as far and wide as you can and should you or anyone see it please report it to the police. It is a pretty standard bike but there are a few distinctive marks:

1) The oil cap has broken and the bike was stolen before I could replace it with the new one I ordered, so it looks like a cracked mess.

2) Both rear brake lights failed at the weekend, again stolen before the replacements could be fitted. I know it's not much to go on but that's the best I can do.

3) Grey paint stripe on the side of the rear tyre (for exactly this reason)

The bike was taken from the Wortley area in Leeds, West Yorkshire. Some of you may recall that this was a bike bought for me by my wife as an anniversary gift, something she saved long and hard for, she is even more pissed off than me!

Anyway I've attached pictures of the bike below and also included a Facebook link, please share to as many people as you can.

Kind Regards

James (1 pissed off Focer)

+1 for all the above.

Also, go at your own pace - don't succumb to that macho bollocks of "must catch that one in front". Watch the other riders for their cornering lines and braking points and use it to help you learn the track, start slowly and build to a level that you're comfortable with. You don't have to hang your arse over the side either just to look good, that'll come in time IF you're comfy with it.

Give it a while then do the same track again and hone what you learnt first time round. You'll either love or hate it but it's a must do at least once.

Above all, relax and enjoy.

Have fun fella  :thumbup

:) Thanks I'll do my best to enjoy it. I had no interest in a track day previously. I enjoy watching racing but always figured I'd be better off, off the track.

Check everything is nipped up properly. Tyres in good condition, and adjust your pressure at the track (down slightly). Adjust chain if necessary. Check your brake pads, especially the front. Add a wee bit of pre-load to the front and rear suspension. And have a blast!!!

Thanks mate, I totally forgot about about the front suspension.

Tip 1. The most important tip. As pointed out by Punkstig. A track day is not a race.

Tip 2. If it's your first track day don't go in the fast group.

Tip 3. Learn the track at your own pace. and although you might learn lines and breaking points from other riders they themselves may have got it all wrong. If in dought enter slow and exit progressively, then work on entry speed.

Tip 3. Don't use your mirrors. Let others find a way around you. Usually, passing other riders should be done on the outside.

Tip 4. Check your bike thoroughly to make sure nothing is going to fall off, and that everything is working as it should.

Tip 5. Read Twist In The Wrist by Keith Code.

Tip 6. Relax and have fun.

Thanks mate, i'll have a look for that book you mentioned on Amazon. I'll take all the advice I can get.

Which track are you going to?

I'm waiting for my mate to decide; it's looking likely to be Oulton Park though. I've never been to that track but I've watched a few videos of the track and it looks pretty appealing.

Hey,

A mate of mine has talked me into trying a track day. Having never raced before I'm not sure what to expect. Have any of you guys tried it on a FZS600? Got any tips, such as bike preparation or how to get the best from the bike on the track? The bike handles beautifully on the road and hope it's even better on the track.

Cheers

Have you been watching Henry Cole's "Worlds Best Motorcycles Rides" on the Travel Channel 42 on Freeview. It's been on every weekday at 8pm and he has covered thousands of miles through the US of A.......it does look fantastic as does the rest of his worldly travels

Yeah I've been watching it. I do like the places he's been visiting but bloody hell he's boring. He makes watching paint dry seem like a high octane sport!

That looks like an awesome trip. I've never done a continental trip before, but I am thinking of a California trip next year! I found that the SV650 and Fazer 600 complimented each other very well. Both equally matched on the open roads.

I've bought a few things from Aldi before and I was very impressed. Particularly a wheel lock with built in alarm for 8 quid!

After finally becoming a Fazer owner last year, I can't express how much fun I have had on it. 2013 was full of camping trips, journeys to Scotland etc with my best pal, joined by his SV650; and man the Fazer can carry tons of luggage without effecting my comfort. Very impressed!!

With all that experience under my belt I can't wait to get to Spring 2014, throw my tent on the back seat and do it all over again!

It is a pretty rugged wilderness and is nothing like the rest of the UK. The highlands are as geographically north as south Alaska, which subjects the landscape (and people) to some fierce weather. That makes for some jaw dropping mountains (and rough faces  :lol ). The best of them are from 15 miles north of Fort William, mountains that is. If that is what you are really after, up the West coast is the way for you. You can PM me if you like, and let me know when you are thinking of doing it and I can tag along for an hour or two and show you a few roads.

Thanks for the offer. I might take you up on that mate. I'll spend some time this weekend piecing ideas together. :)

Steely, your bike will be safe. I stayed in Ullapool a few years back for 2 nights. Arrived at about 3/4pm and parked outside the B & B. Took the gear off the bike and headed in. Never touched the bike the whole time. When I was leaving, I cold not find my keys anywhere. Panic set in. I headed out to the bike to find they were in the seat lock  :o . Point is, nobody touched them. Good folks up in the heelins (Highlands to you I guess  :lol ) You can leave your bike by the side of the road for days mate, no one will touch it. Just take the keys with you.

That's good to know. I've always liked Scotland although I've only discovered a small part of it so far. (I was 23 when I first stayed there, I'm 27 now) I can't wait to take in the scenery really, sit by the tent, get a coffee going on a stove. Simply speaking I don't think there's anywhere else that can compare or offer that experience.

Well I'm very grateful for all the ideas guys, I didn't expect such a rapid response. I think what I will so is take all these suggestions and discuss them with my mate who will be joining me. It does sound tricky to truly wild camp with a bike but I do think it will be a hell of a great time anyway. I'll take plenty of pics!  :D
