MOTORCYCLE SHOW NEC
« on: 18 October 2012, 11:57:33 pm »
£16 a ticket, £4 a programme and £10 to park!!!!  :eek
How can the NEC justify these charges?  I've just been to the caravan show last Tuesday which is massive and entry was £5, with free programme AND free parking!!
What makes the NEC think that bikers can afford this rip off!!
IF IT AIN'T BROKE, FIX IT 'TILL IT IS.

The same thing that makes Yamaha it's reasonable to pay nearly £9grand for a new bike, they know that we'll just complain for a while and pay anyway.

just thinking about this, not got the full details but....,
cars that tow caravans must take up twice if not three times as much space as a bike so that means that as more people will go to bike show on bikes than they did for caravans they could make upto £30 / space!!!

yeah bikers will still go no matter what the cost as they always will but how many will only go every 2 or 3 years rather than every year at this rate!!

short sighted money grabbers!!!

So who sets ticket and car parking prices, is it the venue or the show organiser?

IMO this is because motorcycling has been turned into a hobby rather than what it is - a mode of transport which is cheaper and quicker than the alternatives like cars and public transport.

It also helps that it makes you look double hard and chicks dig bikers and bikes, especially when you've just turned 16 and you've got your own wheels for the first time.

Because of the hobby bikers that infest the countryside at weekends either riding beyond their talent or causing havoc on the roads with  inappropriate stunting, the image is that motorcycling is a dispensable luxury, hence the rising cost to attend the NEC Bike Show.

Well not for me it ain't, it never has been, I have always had a bike to get me from A to B and I for one resent the image that hobby bikers have given motorcycling.

You want a hobby? Take up fishing, I've heard it's very relaxing.

Bought 1 piece BKS silverstone suit last year for 200 notes & AGV S-4 Stealth for 110. I park at the train station & walk down. 5 mins from there & fair bit cheaper if I remember right.  Skint as a bone this year so will just be going to look at the totty & maybe 1 or 2 bikes.  :D

This might help, motorcycle parking is free but only what is available ( no worries if its raining).

I always drive, i find if you can get 4 or more to share cost of fuel and parking its cheaper than the train. also if you buy lots of goodies you have a boot for them  :D

Hey streetbudgie, im a hobby biker, but i ride on weekdays too, does that count, im sad to hear your views on people riding just for fun, perhaps you should stop typing for fun and leave it to the real writers,

You dont work for the government do you, politicians would love it if nobody had any fun and the roads were completely clear just for them to get from a to b,

I knock my pan in to save some cash and go out for a bit of fun on a sunday and dont kill anyone, besides its up to me if i wanna travel 200 miles for a pint o milk and my mode of transport happens to be a bike,

The only ones at fault are the manufacturers or sellers who fill their pockets.

Sorry if my hobby puts the show ticket price up.
Started fishing and biking as hobbies when I was sixteen, the fishing didn't last long though!

In which case just make sure you do it mid-week so as not to clutter up the pavement at the weekend & spoil it for everyday walkers on their way to Tescos for a loaf & a pint of milk...   :)

was at the show last year and got a few bargains.

Wont be there this year though - expensive day out.

Hotel room £44
Evening "Beverages" - £?
Ticket : £16
Parking £10
Petrol. £100ish

even the biggest discount on stuff I dont need still means its expensive.
