I nearly always used an Ibis hotel in St.Omer but also managed to get a good 120 miles into France on one occasion.  I just preferred to dine in France than on the ferry!

Done it once on the bikes,  and obviously never again,  but to me apart from being way more expensive,  you also lose two days biking abroad.  I usually went via Dover and enjoyed more time abroad.

I love how people who steered clear of Foc-u in favour of other sites, run by their pals, now preening about what it should be like.

I always thought it more of a social circle than purely a bike based site.  If you wanted technical help on a bike issue someone would give you it,  hopefully laden with sarcasm and piss taking from others.  The beauty of the net.  I liked the diversity of the site,  and would have quickly become bored of talking about bikes whenever I logged on.

I'm sure many people have made lasting friendships via Foc-u regardless of the title.

As for organising a meet,  Cleveland Point next Sunday anyone?

I think those who "run" the site and do all the work should decide a time when they feel is right to switch the old one off for want of a word and migrate to the new one.

Perhaps having a readily available link to this version prior and get people used to the new site would be an option?

Farjo,

I pop in from time to time still,  just busy sorting things out for the last year or so.  The new site seems just like the old one,  from what little I've seen,  so that can't be a bad thing.

Two boards is ideal for those of us with split personalities!
