General / Secure Parking near Milan for van and trailer.

A small group of us are planning a motorcycle tour of Italy in september, we are going to take our bikes on a trailer over on the ferry from Dover and then drive over to Italy before leaving the van and trailer and touring round the coast.
We are trying to find some secure parking for a van and trailer for 2 weeks near Malpensa Airport as one of our party is flying in to meet us there.
Anyone have any idea where to start looking.

General / Gen 1 Cowling Graphics - Why so expensive

After my Fazer falling over and cracking the fairing I have been looking into getting it replaced.


The Cowling is approx £210 but the graphics to go on to it are about £90


Am i looking at the wrong thing or are they really that expensive.

Example Buy it now is £399 - what sort of best offer would you expect to be accepted.

General / Fazer Workshop Manual Bargain

I just bought  a Yamaha FZ1 FZS Fazer 1000 Service Repair Workshop Manual 2001-2012 on a disc from ebay.

The seller has lots more discs for lots of makes and models and my first impression is great value for money.

It is the whole service and repair workshop manual as pdf`s on a disc

This is not an advert but more of a heads up for anyone who may be interested.

General / Best Helmet for Glasses Wearer ?

As the title suggests, what is the best helmet for a glasses wearer.


Since getting back on a bike after a long time I bought a helmet which in hindsight is not the best one for me and I find it quite a pain and awkward getting my glasses on and off. Then after getting them on they never seem to sit right.


So I have been looking at alternative helmets to make life a little easier.


I quite like the look of the Shark Evoline 3 range (below) but am open to suggestions.


Any advice from glasses wearers would be useful and appreciated.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / FZS1000 - FZS600 How much longer is it ?

When I was buying a bike I had to bear in mind that the bike had to fit down an entry and into the yard at the back of my house. My FZS600 is just about manageable with a bit of manoeuvring to get down the alley and round a corner into my backyard. I now want to change my 600 for a 1000 but am unsure whether I will actually be able to get it into the yard. I have the dimensions for my 600 but cannot find the exact dimensions for the 1000.


I would appreciate it if anyone could tell me the exact dimensions so I can consider my options.

Introduction / Back to biking after 20 years...Its good to be back.

Hello to one and all

After a fairly bad crash just over 20 years ago I hung up my helmet and leathers and bought a car.


Recently however after chatting to a biker friend of mine I decided to dip my toe in the water and see if I really did want to get back on a bike.


My thought process was that I would buy a cheap bike and have a mess around on it for a while to get me back into the swing of things, my thinking was if it was cheap it would not matter if I dropped it etc.


So after a bit of research I decide to buy a fzs600 from ebay and managed to get a great deal on a 2001 black and gold fzs600.


The first ride was a little bit tentative but after about 1000 miles in four weeks I realised that I had made the right choice. I did not realise just how much I missed riding.


So here I am back in the swing of things and looking forward.
