Yep. I got the carbon one as well. Cracking exhaust & excellent quality as Mivv used to supply HRC GP bikes.

Any buyer won't be disappointed.

« on: 29 April 2020, 10:44:16 am »
When I bought my 2010 FZ1S the seller also had a brand new black gloss Yamaha OE belly pan that he hadn't got round to fitting.

Paid £50-00 which was an absolute bargain as about £200+ & fits perfectly. As a previous poster said there's some serious stone chip damage so has really protected my bike.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Bonamici Rear Sets
« on: 28 January 2017, 04:37:12 pm »
Thinking of getting a set of these. Anyone fitted them or got experience of them?

https://www.speedycom.co.uk/shop/product.php?productid=17618&cat=1241&page=2

My bikes an FZ1S ABS - is there anything special required when fitting rearsets to an ABS bike - pressure switch / rear brake light lever etc?

Rizoma are beautiful as is the price & the Gilles is a bit too fancy for me. LSL are on the list but not a lot out there as FZ1's seem to be a forgotten bike these days :\

Thanks in advance

« on: 28 January 2017, 04:26:51 pm »
As many replies above - fitted a GiproX last year.  Absolutely fantastic piece of kit & couldn't live without a Gear indicator now.

Only downside for me is that it's extremely bright at night & initially was quite distracting  - but like car headlights I don't focus on it.

I chose the red ( as advised was the best under all light conditions) - but I would have liked to try the blue (or any colour except white?) to compare them

Means one less thing to think about so i can concentrate on riding rather than constantly trying to remember what gear I'm in as well as everything else when approaching a bend / mythical 7th gear etc.

Hope this helps. :)

Thanks for the replies everyone

Dude -

The Rizoma stuff does look good - Do you need to buy the bar risers as well or can you use the original clamps?

DID Chain / Sprockets - Don't mind paying the extra for tried & tested kit - bit like tyres

Do you you know if the OEM sprocket is the best as I read somewhere that it has a rubber cushioning washer or something to prevent vibration?

Pilninggas  - May consider another season out of the chain & spend the cash on something else

Robbo - 25% discount. Made my day. Many thanks for that. It's paid for them to be fitted.

Slappy - Like you no problem changing them myself normally, but as ABS I think that you have to have the power on in order to open the valves /pump or something....?

Because it's the brakes , because I don't know &  because I can't find enough useful information to remove any doubt after trawling the net - I have no hesitation at all taking it to Yamaha.

- Not worth taking the risk & I think £60 is reasonable for a dealers

Thanks Everyone :)

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Gen 2 Modification Advice Please
« on: 16 January 2017, 11:33:32 am »
Going to do a few upgrades & would like to ask if anyone has any recent experience / advice of the following:

1) Rear shock - Nitron NTR R1 Mono shock

 - Is it worth paying the extra to add the hydraulic preload adjuster?  I sometimes take the mrs on the back but as I've removed the rear foot pegs.......:-)

2) Braided Hoses

HEL or Goodridge?

- purely cosmetic but as it's due a fluid change I want to change them. Quite a significant price hike from standard price as well.
Unfortunately it's ABS model & it's not straightforward - if I supply them my local Yamaha dealer has agreed to fit them for £60 inc fluid which I think is reasonable.

Levers  - ASV /Brake & Clutch

Already bought these ready to fit - just wondering wether to change handlebars at same time - Any recommendations?

Final Drive - Thinking of changing chain & Sprockets as just below 15k miles. Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance

Has your bike got ABS? That makes it a lot more expensive as there are 8 lines to change. Think it ramps the price up from about £95-00 to £240-00.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Mt10 test ride
« on: 18 June 2016, 08:21:43 am »
Had a look at the MT10 & although it's touted as a £10k bike you'll definitely need a Radiator guard & Oil cooler guard, Tail tidy & like most of us a slip on end can.

If you go for the official Yamaha parts from the MT10 accessory catalogue thats another £800-00 - Want to turn it into a long distance machine - add luggage for a further £700-00.

Like on of the earlier posts, I haven't booked a test ride yet as it will make my Gen2 Fazer feel slow & heavy - like it did after I took the GSXR1000R naked for a test.  >:

The looks are subjective - it does look better in the metal - but what puts me off the bike, is the overall build quality finish.

Without doubt the engine is the star of the show but Yamaha have had to compromise on the finish to get it under the magic £10k. The welding seams on the swing arm, the placement of the breather pipes & cables that are exposed, look like an afterthought & unfinished. I don't like the plain plastic finish on a lot of the bike - mudguards, rear hugger etc.

Without doubt a cracking machine but (unfortunately) for me, I couldn't spend that amount of money on a bike that needs more money spending on it.

(As a matter of interest re: the MT-10 test ride video made in France in earlier post - has the 100bhp restriction now been lifted / abolished as voted for in the EU Parliament?)

If you cover your bathroom mirror with shaving foam & clean it off it prevents it misting up (It actually works)

Maybe it could work on your glasses? Not abrasive either.

You remove the exup cables to the motor, remove the monstrosity of a standard end exhaust, then slip on your new, erm , slip-on!

There's a couple of good clips on YouTube that show you how to do it.

It's NOT necessary to remove the cat with most aftermarket slip-ons or have it re-mapped!

You can if you want obviously... :)

BTW - good looking bike.

Went out with my mate the other week on his new S1R. He left me dead in the water on my Gen2. :(

The torque on thebike is awesome!! So much grunt right from the start.

His bike is also limited to 7K revs until the 1st service on saturday!! - Akra zorst being fitted at same time -it should be absolutely bonkers with full power available. 8)

Probably the best naked on the market for quite a while to come. Hope you paid the extra & got it specced up? Enjoy!!!! :)

Have managed to have a couple of decent rides recently & the BT023's seem to be performing quite well. Still got about 25mm of chicken strip as 1) the rear is a 190. 2) I'm a chicken :)

At the end of the day - it's not as if the Gen2 is a new bike. It's been around since 2006 via a few upgrades i.e the shitty fuel mapping.

I reckon it's getting to be a bit of a Bandit bike:

Suzuki  - 1200 /1250 (Mk1 /Mk2 /etc)

Yamaha - FZFazer - FZ1 Fazer (Gen1 / Gen2)

I have only ever ridden the Gen2 & I think it's a brilliant bike.

Just my opinion - which is like an arsehole - everbodys got one!  :)

IMO - These days you can't say jack shit without having to contemplate the fall out.

A spade is a spade yes? Nothing racist about the is there? Or is there?

When I was a kid all this racist crap never existed.  (What I mean is walking on eggshells all the time.- as someone said 'cringing when asking for a black coffee - its Americano now?'

Also.. none of the people I went to school with had ADHD or whatever it's called - I believe that 1 in 10 kids now have it (10%)!

WTF? :wall
